recover data from linear raid
Hello, I had a scientific linux 3.0.4 system (rhel compatible), with 3 ide disks, one for / and two others in linear raid (250 gb and 300 gb each). This system was obsoleted so i move the raid disks to a new scientific linux 3.0.7 installation. However, the raid array was not detected ( I put the disks on the same channels and same master/lsave setup as in the previous setup). In fact

32E (64bit) VMX keyboard is out of control, if given an addition ''hde''
Hi, This issue only happens on my IA32E VMX domain. IA32 VMX domain is okay. I am trying VBD disk in IA32E VMX domain. I used following disk configuration to create an IA32E VMX domain. disk = [ ''file:/mnt/disk1.img,hda,w'', ''file:/mnt/disk2.img,hde,w'' ] After creating VMX, its keyboard can not be used properly. For example, if pressing

Problems with ext3 fs
Hi, Apologies, this is going to be quite long - I'm going to provide as much info as possible. I'm running a system with ext3 fs on software RAID. The RAID set-up is as shown below: jlm@nijinsky:~$ cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [linear] [raid0] [raid1] [raid5] read_ahead 1024 sectors md0 : active raid1 hdc1[1] hda1[0] 96256 blocks [2/2] [UU] md5 : active raid1 hdk1[1] hde1[0]

Promise Ultra133TX2?
Has anyone made the Promise Ultra133TX2 2-port PCI<->IDE card work with Solaris x86 11/06? I''ve seen some references to the Ultra100TX2, but it doesn''t seem to refer to the version that I''m using. How HVM domain distingush ioemu disk and VBD disk
Hi, From cset 10921, ioemu: prefix is removed from disk config in /etc/xen/xmexample.hvm. Now HVM VBD driver is available, this thus raises a question: how would HVM domain know if one disk is a qemu-dm disk or a VBD disk? From current implementation, qemu-dm will recognize disk had, hdb, hdc, hdd, and VBD drive can recognize all disk (had~hdd, hde, hdf ...) . So the result is: qemu-dm will

Re: Problems with ext3 fs
Hi, I have read this thread and want to say that I have expirienced the same problem. Once, when I was loged in, one of my filesystems ( root filesystem :( ) became read-only with the same symptoms. But results was more tragic. Almost in each directory avg. 10% of files had incorrect attributes, owner, links, etc. But filenames was correct. So, I was obliged to re-create root filesystem :(

xen: when devices go away...
Hi there, I''ve been experimenting with iscsi and xen and have found an interesting behavior. I''d reasoned that using iscsi volumes as devices in a software RAID1 configuration would be a Good Idea since when one of the iscsi servers goes away the filesystem is stable. I have a dom0 which has access to two iscsi volumes on two seperate iscsi target servers. I configure a domU

Compiling while * is running
I just fetched today's cvs (1/30/04 11:10:31). Compiles/installs on my test machine (ASUS A7V, 900 MHZ). However, If I try to compile on my production machine (Elite K7S5A, 2.4GHz, 512MB) while * is running the zaptel and asterisk compiles seg fault. I am assuming that they will compile correctly if I bring down * and rmmod the zaptel driver. 0.7.1 compiled and is now running. Is there

Unable to figure out extlinux
OK, been perusing the archives and Google, but can't find what I want. I'm building up a 512 MB compact flash using the CLFS directions to build the filesystem. That works great, but I would like to use extlinux to make the cflash bootable on my little SBC. However, to date, no dice. Attached is my extlinux.conf file and the steps I have used to make this work. Initially I tried to

[Bridge] recent crashes? Linux kernel 2.6.18-1.2239.fc5 (Linux Fedora Core 5)
At the risk of angering the crash Gods, my sustem has NOT crashed again since I downgraded the kernel from 2.6.18-1.2239.fc5 to 2.6.18-1.2200.fc5. Given that newfound stability, and my lack of time, I'm going to put on hold any further diagnostics, until the next kernel revision is released. I have submitted a report at bugzilla.redhat.com (bug 218128). (Ah, nuts; accidentally created a

Vista performance (uggh)
Issue: Vista reads slowly from a samba server. This appears to pop up periodically here and elsewhere. My samba.conf file has: [homes] ... vfs objects = readahead As suggested elsewhere. Writes are approximately 17-18MB/s which is acceptable. Reads are in the 8MB/s range which is appalingly slow. Using linux smbclient and windows XP clients I can read at 25+MB/s. I've enabled vfs

Alternative to laptop
I am considering buying a small, and therefore easily portable, computer as an alternative to the laptop I already have. Obviously it would not have battery, a screen, nor a keyboard etc. but more or less be an easily portable computing unit to move between offices where a keyboard and monitor(s) could then be connected. I want to run CentOS 7, later CentOS 8. The smaller, the better, however,
