I2O_EXT_ADAPTEC_DMA64
For about the past week (perhaps a bit longer) I have been unable to use an automated script to build xen-unstable on a 32 bit machine. The build continues to ask about the following build parameter: I2O_EXT_ADAPTEC_DMA64 Choosing the default (Y) allows the build to continue to completion. After a little research, it looks like this parameter was pulled out of linux-defconfig_xen_x86_32 in

[PATCH] Limit MCG Cap
Intercept guest reads of MSR_IA32_MCG_CAP and limit the number of memory banks reported to one. This prevents us from trying to read status of non-existent banks when migrated to a machine with fewer banks. Re: AW: PV- Drivers for Windows (XP, 2003 Server)
Most likely, yes. They should have a copy of the license agreement, and you can take a look at that and see what they have to say about using them apart from the VirtualIron product. The only open source PV drivers are the ones that James has released - search the list for "GPL PV drivers" and that should turn up some threads related to those. The drivers are still very much in the

[XCI] xci build issues
After a hiatus, I have made another attempt at getting the XCI code-base up-and-running, but have run into some issues that I am hoping someone can help me with. 1. I am finding that a large hurdle in getting this building is chasing down build dependencies, of which there are many. Since the wiki recommends that this be built on a 32bit Debian lenny system - does anyone have a list of necessary

3.1.1 RC4?
Keir, I noticed that a Shadow patch went into the 3.1.1 staging tree today. Does this mean that we should expect a 4th release candidate before the 3.1.1 release tag is official? If so - how much testing time are you going to give that release candidate before deciding whether a release tag, or another RC round is appropriate? samba on SLES 10: binding problem
Greets, samba-users, I try to find a solution for the following situation: We run samba on a SLES10 SP3 server (32bit). All the SLES-updates are in ... The server started to show problems with CUPS, cupsd just stopped working out of the blue and had to be restarted. No specific errors were logged. I wrote a small script to watchdog that daemon and restart it (people want to print ...) while

SLES 10 LDAP NSSWITCH
I am trying to run samba as a PDC on SLES10 with ldap backend for samba accounts and local users vi nss_ldap. I can get everything working. ldap backend is populated with smbldap-tools samba talks to ldap (pdbedit -L confirms) nss_ldap (getent passwd|group report correctly) but if i attempt to restart ldap it will not bind to ports to listen. If i remove ldap settings from /etc/nsswitch.conf

CONFIG_HUGETLB_PAGE in sles 10 domU?
We''re setting up a sles10 sp3 domU that needs hugepage support according to Oracle. Everything appears to be installed to support it except for the kernel module. The current config shows: # CONFIG_HUGETLB_PAGE is not set If I try to reconfigure the kernel I can''t find anything in the config for huge page support under: File Systems ---> Pseudo File Systems ---> I also

SLES kernel update
Hello CFS, I was wondering if the new SLES10 kernel will be part of the 1.6.4 release. It appears to be tracked by: https://bugzilla.lustre.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13874 As this contains a major security fix (privilege escalation), it is a mandatory upgrade in many places and it would be nice to not have to roll our own kernel. Thanks, Kit

domU''s on SLES 10.0b3 crashing dom0
Hi all, I installed SLES 10.0b3 with XEN on some test-systems and created a SLES 10.0b3-image for use with domU''s. The installation and booting of this domU was no problem, but on some systems the host dom0 restarts if I generate some IP-traffic from the guest. This happens on an old AMD Athlon 1,3GHz, an old Intel P3 and an Intel desktop with P4 HT/VT/EM64T but not on an Intel

Problem setting up VNC on SLES10 HVM DomU
I''ve just uneventfully installed SLES10 as an HVM DomU (after finding out, the hard way, that OpenSUSE 10.3 won''t install on Intel VT). This almost went without a hitch, but I''ve been banging my head against a brick wall for a few hours trying to get VNC working. I can get a remote desktop, but a few seconds after I log in to the remote desktop, the screen goes

[PATCH] Fix qemu-dm segfault when multiple HVM domains ---Was: qemu-dm segfault with multiple HVM domains?
Hi, John Can you try the attached patch ? This issue can be reproduced on SMP platform, while the domain 0 is UP. The reason is, after finishing a dma request, the dma thread will trigger the interrupt and then clear the call back function. When guest get the interrupt , it will try to check the call back function, if it is set, then it will trigger a dma request again. So if the checking for

Slow TCP performance between Windows Vista and Xen PV-on-HVM guest
I am running a Xen HVM guest with netfront PV drivers. This is running SLES10 SP3 inside the guest. The Dom0 is also SLES10 SP3. Now I am trying to communicate from that HVM guest to a Windows Visa or also Windows 7 machine and I am getting really poor TCP performance. When tracing on the network traffic, I can see that no packets are dropped or missing or anything, but what happens is that the

sles10: installing module-binaries: "error: Failed dependencies: ksym(panic) .."
Hi, After some hard trying to use lustre on our debian servers with an up2date kernel I decided to buy sles10 to make everything more comftable: I installed (rpm -i) the new kernelbinaries from 1.6.2/sles10-i686 to a sles10 test box (AMD64). When i try to install the modules form 1.6.2/sles10-i686 it says : sles2:/usr/src/lustre # rpm -i
