[PATCH] patch to support super page (2M) with EPT
Attached are the patches to support super page with EPT. We only support 2M size. And shadow may still work fine with 4K pages. The patches can be split into 3 parts. Apply order is as attached. tool.diff To allocate 2M physical contiguous memory in guest except the first 2M and the last 2M. The first 2M covers special memory, and Xen use the last few pages in guest memory to do special

[PATCH] xen/p2m: Fix one by off error in checking the P2M tree directory.
We would the full P2M top directory from 0->MAX_DOMAIN_PAGES (inclusive). Which meant that if the kernel was compiled with MAX_DOMAIN_PAGES=512 we would try to use the 512th entry. Fortunately for us the p2m_top_index has a check for this: BUG_ON(pfn >= MAX_P2M_PFN); which we hit and saw this: (XEN) domain_crash_sync called from entry.S (XEN) Domain 0 (vcpu#0) crashed on cpu#0: (XEN)

[PATCH] x86/mm: fix invalid unlinking of nested p2m tables
Commit 90805dc (c/s 26387:4056e5a3d815) ("EPT: Make ept data stucture or operations neutral") makes nested p2m tables be unlinked from the host p2m table before their destruction (in p2m_teardown_nestedp2m). However, by this time the host p2m table has already been torn down, leading to a possible race condition where another allocation between the two kinds of table being torn down can

[PATCH][PAGING][P2M][1/1] Common Interface for P2M table
This patch worked on top of paging interface patches posted today. It create common interface for P2M table, which handles guest physical address to machine physical address translation. Tested on the following platforms: 1. AMD SVM boxes * 64-bit Xen: 32-bit WinXP SP2, 32-bit SUSE10, 32-bit SUSE 10 PAE BigSMP, and 64-bit RHEL4 * 32-bit PAE Xen: 32-bit WinXP SP2, 32-bit SUSE10, 32-bit SUSE 10

RFC: [0/2] Remove netloop by lazy copying in netback
Hi Keir: These two patches remove the need for netloop by performing the copying in netback and only if it is necessary. The rationale is that most packets will be processed without delay allowing them to be freed without copying at all. So instead of copying every packet destined to dom0 we''ll only copy those that linger longer than a specified amount of time (currently 0.5s). As it

[PATCH] xen/balloon: don't set P2M entry for auto translated guest
In commit cd9151e2: xen/balloon: set a mapping for ballooned out pages we have the ballooned out page''s mapping set to a scratch page. That commit also sets the P2M entry of ballooned out page to the scratch page''s MFN. This is necessary for PV guest but not for HVM guest. On the other hand, setting the P2M entry would trigger BUG_ON in __set_phys_to_machine. The correct thing

Backend device not found error
Hi, Sometimes when I mount a disk image, unmount it, and then try to create a domU using the disk image I get the following error: Error: Device 2049 (vbd) could not be connected. Backend device not found. Im using a FC4 image. Here is the config file: kernel = "/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.16-rc3-xenU" memory=256 name=Domain1 vif = [''bridge=xenbr0''] disk = [

odd gfn number checking in p2m.c
Hello, how can a gfn become 0x555555 as checked in p2m.c:guest_physmap_add_entry() and p2m_alloc_table()? Looking further in p2m.c, audit_p2m() checks only for a 32bit value. So where is that magic number set, and why is it not a define to simplify grepping for users of that value? [PATCH 0 of 5] v2: Nested-p2m cleanups and locking changes
This patch series tidies up a few bits ofthe nested p2m code. The main thing it does is reorganize the locking so that most of the changes to nested p2m tables happen only under the p2m lock, and the nestedp2m lock is only needed to reassign p2m tables to new cr3 values. Changes since v1: - a few minor fixes - more sensible flushing policy in p2m_get_nestedp2m() - smoke-tested this time!

performance counters
In order to be meaningful and usable together with other measuring methods, their use in my opinion should impose as little overhead as possible. With that, I wonder why per-cpu counters use atomic operations. [PATCH 00/11] Add virtual EPT support Xen.
From: Zhang Xiantao <xiantao.zhang@intel.com> With virtual EPT support, L1 hyerpvisor can use EPT hardware for L2 guest''s memory virtualization. In this way, L2 guest''s performance can be improved sharply. According to our testing, some benchmarks can show > 5x performance gain. question about memory auto-translate and paravirtual and no pseudophysical overlay
hi I try to understand the code of xen memory there are gmfn, gpfn and pfn in the xen and in the /xen/include/xen/mm.h there are some explanation about them as follows: * 1. gpfn/gpaddr: A guest-specific pseudo-physical frame number or address. * 2. gmfn/gmaddr: A machine address from the p.o.v. of a particular guest. * 3. mfn/maddr: A real machine frame number or address. * 4.

[PATCH] xen: arm: improve VMID allocation.
The VMID field is 8 bits. Rather than allowing only up to 256 VMs per host reboot before things start "acting strange" instead maintain a simple bitmap of used VMIDs and allocate them statically to guests upon creation. This limits us to 256 concurrent VMs which is a reasonable improvement. Eventually we will want a proper scheme to allocate VMIDs on context switch. The existing code

[PATCH 0 of 3] RFC Paging support for AMD NPT V2
There has been some progress, but still no joy. Definitely not intended for inclusion at this point. Tim, Wei, I added a Xen command line toggle to disable IOMMU and P2M table sharing. Tim, I verified that changes to p2m-pt.c don''t break shadow mode (64bit hypervisor and Win 7 guest). Hongkaixing, I incorporated your suggestion in patch 2, so I should add your Signed-off-by eventually.

Some problems about xenpaging
Hi, Olaf we have tested the xenpaging feature and found some problems. (1) the test case like this : when we start a VM with POD enable, the xenpaging is started at the same time. this case will cause many problems ,finally, we fixed the BUG, the patch is attached below. (2) there is a very serious problem. we have observed many VM crash examples, the error code is not always the same.
