Can''t set up rails: dispatch.cgi failed
Hi, I''m trying to setup RoR on OpenBSD 3.9 with Ruby 1.8.4 and Apache 1.3. I''ve setup Rails to run as a Virtual Host, and I can view the "Welcome Aboard" page. When I try to access http://<server>/category/ though, I get an "Application error...Rails application failed to start properly" message. Apache.log has this error: [error] (2)No such file or

Instiki and SQL Server??
Hello. I reeeeally want to get Instiki running at my day job, but they are Microsoft-heads. While I can probably sell them on trying Rails, they are definitely going to want the database to sit in our SQL Server instance with our other databases. I can''t get instiki to create the tables in sql server though (I''ve added ADO.rb, and gotten a connection). When I run the

eRuby & Rails: Not Compatible
I''m new to Ruby, Rails, and this list. I''ve tried searching for an answer but it all seems to be over my head. I have all the books but again they seem to leave me on my own to figure out the stuff that really matters. Where is the best place to find out the details? Exactly what are these much celebrated "naming conventions"; i.e. where do I find an exhaustive

Dead Call But Still Active
I'm having a strange issue, and not really sure where to even begin to troubleshoot it. First let me explain that I have all agents setup locally ( local/100 at agents/n) A call will come in and ring to the agent. When the agent answers the call, they just hear a dial tone. Agent hangs up. Asterisk still shows the agent as 'in use' in queue status. And 'show channels'

When I run this from the command line an email is sent, however when I access this .rb file through a browser nothing happens. ------------------------- #!/usr/bin/ruby require "rubygems" require "action_mailer" ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :smtp

Non standard rubygems location
Hi, Page 183 of Programming Ruby, talking about the $: load path variable, states: "You can always add additional directories to this array from within your running program". So why can''t I do this in environment.rb: $:.concat(Dir["/home/jhughes/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8"]) # path points at my install of rubygems and then have require ''rubygems''

Eruby.import -> "uninitialized constant" error
I''m working on porting a dynamic website done in PHP over to mod_ruby. I have everything set up and working nicely (I can make a .rhtml page, put ruby code between <% %> and it works etc), but when I try to use "Eruby.import" as a sort of analog to PHP''s "require_once()", I run into trouble. 1) eruby is in my cgi-bin 2) here''s a sample of

Trouble with Rails/Ri18n
Hi, I am new to Ruby/Rails but totally fall in love with :D Nonetheless, today I am totally stuck with Ri18n. I basically followed the 10 Steps to Make Your Rails Apps Multilingual. No errors are thrown, the english version works as before with the freshly added <%= _('''') %> Still, no translations are performed. Setting I18nService.instance.lang = ''de''

Problem installing rubygems-0.8.11
I''m having an issue installing rubygems-0.8.11 on 2 different boxes but get the same error on both. The first box is a host environment where I am cross-compiling things for the arm-linux architecture. It is a debian sarge box using the ruby1.8 package which is ruby-1.8.2. I successfully cross-compiled ruby 1.8.4 for the arm-linux architecture and it runs well on the embedded

Salted hash login generator (verification problem?)
Hi all, I hope someone can help with what is probably a simple newb installation mistake on my part. I''m having a couple of problems with the salted hash login generator. I installed it following the quickstart guide, and the unit tests work like a charm. There are two errors and a failure on the function tests, though; the verified field seems to be involved in at least one of

[PATCH server] Update app to work with rails 2.3.2
Note that this does not fix gettext for app, that will be done separately in another patch as F10/F11 require different setups for that. In the meantime gettext works if manually changed in environment.rb to gettext_rails instead of gettext/rails Signed-off-by: Jason Guiditta <jason.guiditt at gmail.com> --- src/app/controllers/application.rb | 200 --------

Premature end of script headers:....dispatch.cgi
Hi all, I have a working ruby app that I developed on Window and I am trying to deploy it on Linox with Apache. The hosting company generated for me an empty rails app and I just replaced the files that I modified in my app (only rb/rhtml/css/js files). Premature optimization in f_name_cmp()?
I appear to be hitting a case of premature optimization at my site - with rsync 2.6.4pre2: I backup a number of very large systems using rsync, and have been updating as I try and fix various weird problems. It appears that rsync 2.6.4pre2 fixes some of my other issues (timeouts in particular), but now I'm being bitten by very high loads and slow transfers. My current theory is that the

OT: clear error from premature disk removal from LVM
Hi all, This question is only slightly ontopic, in that the host system is a CentOS 5 box, but is otherwise a fairly generic question. I've looked in so many different places for an answer, but haven't had much luck, so I'm hoping someone here has some advice. (for the record: I posted this question to comp.os.linux.misc a few weeks ago) === I made a minor mistake recently, and
