the best open source OS for Rails?
I''m rigging up some virtual machines in VMware to test out a new
production configuration.
Up till now I''ve been using Ubuntu Breezy Server distribution pre-
installed on dedicated boxes by the hosting company, but in this
scenario I am free to choose whatever OS I want.
I''ve had some problems with Ubuntu Breezy (likes to call fastgi -
fcgid etc.) and a low

Net/Https & active_rbac & Debian Sarge
Hi,
I''m attempting an install of active_rbac but am having some troubles.
I''m running Debian 3.1 sarge and I am getting an error saying that I
need to have net/https installed.
I checked out my ruby lib and net/https.rb is nowhere to be found.
I''m running the default ruby for Sarge which is 1.8.2. Was https.rb not
included in this build?
How can I get around this? I

Object.isNumber() returns true on NaN??
Hi,
Object.isNumber() returns true on NaN. I don''t think that''s true....
NaN is Not a Number so it''s not a number... right?
By the way, I''m using Prototype 1.6.0.2.

I am a newbie and I would like some help deciding what operating system
I would like first to introduce my self to the community. I am Steve

system but I would like to get some advice on what operating system
you would recommend for a production server. I want to use Mongrel

Cannot access Samba shares after latest update
Yesterday (12/17/16), I updated my Centos 7 machine with the latest
updates. Prior to the updates both my Windows 10 and Centos 7 machines
were able to access Samba shares hosted on a Fedora 25 server.
After rebooting the Centos 7 machine, I get the dreaded "Unable to
access location --- Failed to receive share list from server ---
Connection refused" message when trying to mount the

Export variables into other classes
Hi all
I have been pondering this for a while, but not yet seen a clean way
to do it
I have a few puppet classes (apache/ntp/mysql/bacula/nagios/etc)
I would like to generate part of my bacula and nagios configs for each
host based on which other classes that host belongs to (or to put it
another way, I would like to export variables from classes which would
be used by my bacula and nagios

predict.glm predicted prob above 1?
I have a puzzle....
When I include an interaction in the model, many predicted probabilities are above 1. Is that a problem with my model? I thought the predicted prob can't be bigger than 1...
Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Difficulty understanding sem errors / failed confirmatory factor analysis
Hello,
I'm trying to fit a pretty simple confirmatory factor analysis using
the sem package. There's a CFA example in the examples, which is helpful,
but the output for my (failing) model is hard to understand. I'd be
interested in any other ways to do a CFA in R, if this proves troublesome.
The CFA is replicating a 5 uncorrelated-factor structure (for those
interested, it is a

Really? I thought the protocol only transmits seconds.
