Warnings printed to console causes error if console closed on Linux
I had a statement that was generating a warning about parenthesise
argument for future version. The interesting thing was it would crash
the page with an input/output error on my production linux server, but
worked fine in webbrick/windows. I finally tracked it down to it crashed
when trying to print the warning to the console. If I kept the terminal
open that I started the server on it would

Error 500
Hi,
I''ve got a weird 500 error that I can''t fix. I''m using scgi with Apache2 on
Fedora core 2.
Status: 500 Internal Server Error
Even when I launch dispatch.cgi from the command line, I get the 500 error.
I don''t have any log entry written so I''m completely blind. I know that the
app is fine because I can run it in the console and get my records from

Instant Rails 1.3
Instant Rails 1.3 upgrades Ruby on Rails to its newly released version
1.1.2 and adds the native C MySQL/Ruby driver. There were no other
changes over Instant Rails 1.1
-----------
Instant Rails is a one-stop Rails runtime solution containing Ruby, Rails,
Apache, and MySQL, all preconfigured and ready to run. No installer, you
simply drop it into the directory of your choice and run it. It does

Instant Rails 1.3a -- bug fix release
It turns out the native C MySQL driver is causing segfaults (at least on
Windows 2000), so this is a minor maintenance release that removes this
driver. Rails will automatically use the pure Ruby driver, instead.
If you already have Instant Rails 1.3 installed, you don''t need to download
this, just delete the file:
InstantRails\ruby\lib\ruby\site_ruby\1.8\i386-msvcrt\mysql.so

When I click on the DepotServer and try to start it WEBbrick is not starting.
I can cd to the base directory and run script/server and it works.
Any idea what I''m doing wrong?
Thanks

G4-400mhz enough for CentOS 4.3?
It's that time again. I'm stuck with a bunch of older Powermac G4's
that I either need to repurpose or give the heave ho. I've not tried
CentOS on Mac hardware before. Would the following config be suitable
for a (somewhat slow) workstation?
PowerMac G4
400mhz
256mb RAM
40gig ATA disk
Some sort of dual-head ATI video setup with 64mb VRAM (I've forgotten

Hi everyone,
I have a rails project that I''ve been serving via WebBrick at work,
and its been working fine (low traffic). For the last few days I''ve
been trying to deploy it under Apache which already serves our groups
static and PHP pages. I have the dynamic rails part working now, but
am having problems with stylesheet references in static pages. My URL
using WebBrick was (and

Hi,
When I do:
logger.info "hello?"
I would expect it to output something from the webbrick output but it doesn''t
seem to. Am I doing something wrong? or is there another way of outputting
on the webbrick output?
Thanks,

rails won''t cache my action
I''ve decided to dive into page caching for my rails app. I''m doing my
testing with webbrick and it refuses to display the cached page for a
particular action. I''ve modified my paginator helper to put the page
parameter in the url so that the paginated page can be used with
caching. This works perfectly when the page parameter is in the url (ie

X100P fails to initialize
So I took a chance with an X100P knock-off on eBay. I'm running Asterisk +
FreePBX on a PowerMac G3 (beige desktop) using Slackintosh 10.2 and kernel
2.6.16.16. Everything has been fine up until now.
I compile the 1.2.5 Zaptel drivers without a problem, get the udev
configuration in, modprobe zaptel, and finally modprobe wcfxo. At this
point, I get the message:

What does /favicon.ico (which doesnt seem to exist in my source) do for
Rails?
