habtm :uniq causing duplicate inserts? How to update Rails?
Hello *Gem* experts,
Sorry for asking multiple questions in one post but they are both related to one problem.
So far I have the following code:
class Member < ActiveRecord::Base
has_and_belongs_to_many :blogs, :uniq=>true
.....
end
class Blog < ActiveRecord::Base
has_and_belongs_to_many :members, :uniq=>true
...
end
The issue is that

Publishing a Plugin via ./script/plugin
Hi
How do I publish a plugin so I can download it via ./script/plugin.
I''ve put my plugin (ActiveRBAC) on http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/

Logging Exceptions
Hi,
I am using Mongrel with my own XmlRpcHandler and I get sporadic "500"
errors from Mongrel. The handler wraps around the xmlrpc/server
module and I am pretty sure that the error is mine and neither in
mongrel or xmlrpc/server.
I catch all exceptions in my xmlrpc/server handler and do not send
out 500 http answers from there. Thus, I expect the problem is in my
handler.

habtm confusion
Hello friends!
I am trying to make a database that will have a group of people set to
committees, and a person can be in multiple committees, and a committee
obviously has multiple people. The people are senators at my
university. These are my current models:
senator.rb:

class Senator < ActiveRecord::Base

Multiple HABTM to one table
I have a class Player, and a class Game.
Game has two HABTM relationships to the Player table through seperate
relationship tables.
class Game < ActiveRecord::Base
has_and_belongs_to_many :players, :uniq => true
has_and_belongs_to_many :victors, :class_name => ''Player'', :uniq => true
end
When I add Player A to players, and Player B to victors, and save the

Dedicated Host Recommendations?
I currently have a dedicated server at ev1servers, but
it''s getting rather antiquated (Redhat 9) and am
looking to upgrade. I''m thinking about serverbeach.com
- one of their CentOS servers. Anybody have any
recommendations for dedicated servers on which to run
Rails? Hopefully less than $200/month.
Thanks!

Problem with has_many :through, :uniq => true with polymorph
Didn''t have quite enough space to describe it there...basically i''m
having a problem with the :uniq option in my tags.
I''m using acts_as_taggable_on_steroid which adds these associations to
my Resource class:
Resource
has_many :taggings, :as => :taggable, :dependent => :destroy, :include
=> :tag
has_many :tags, :through => :taggings, :uniq => true

uniq -c
Is there an R analog of the Unix command uniq -c:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniq
Given an array x, uniq -c replaces each contiguous subsequence of
identical numbers with a tuple (count, number). E.g.

Getting the through items from a has_many :through :uniq relationship
Getting the through items from a has_many :through :uniq relationship
In a nutshell, I have been using the has_many :through :uniq
relationship, and I want a DRY way to list the join model objects.
Currently, my objects include taxon objects, toxin objects,
data_object objects, and taxon_toxin_citation objects ("citation" is
another word for data_object). A taxon has many data objects,

Prevent duplicate HABTM associations
Hi,
I am trying to restrict duplicate has_and_belongs_to_many associations.
I tried to find support for a association validation for duplicates but
couldn''t find anything.
I understand I could use :uniq=>true on the model association but this
would only prevent it from displaying duplicates, I want to stop
duplicate associations being inserted in the first place.
I have a vague

Using through with habtm
I have two models with an habtm relationship:
Foo has_and_belongs_to_many Bars (and vice-versa, obviously).
Let''s say Bar has_many Bazs (how the heck do you pluralize Baz?).
It would be nice to be able to say that Foo has_many Bazs through =>
Bar, but this does not seem to work.
Am I right, or should it be possible to do this?
The best I have been able to do is this:
bazs =

ActiveRBAC 0.3.1 Released
Hi
I am happy to announce the 0.3.1 release of ActiveRBAC Engine. The
biggest improvement on the 0.3 release is that it runs with Rails 1.1
now.
Get your personal copy now from

There is a manual PDF with a tutorial available at

Am I misunderstanding "require_dependency"?
Hi
From what I understand about documentation about require_dependency,
this function will work like require but the file will be reloaded on
every request to the server when in development mode.
I have bootstrapped am minimal RoR project with 0.13.1 Rails. I have
created a minimal Controller and hooked up it''s "index" action at the
site root. I have also created a

habtm on an array (or object.habtm.habtm)
Hi,
I have three Models: User, Group and File.
User habtm groups
and
Group habtm Files
How can I find all files that a particular user has access to?
eg user.groups.files ?
As user.groups returns an array, the above doesn''t work.
Id like to find the files for all groups in that array, without adding
any code to the User model.
Thanks in advance

Optimizing grep, sort, uniq for speed
This snippet of code pulls an array of hostnames from some log files.
It has to parse around 3GB of log files, so I'm keen on making it as
efficient as possible. Can you think of any way to optimize this to
run faster?
HOSTS=()
for host in $(grep -h -o "[-\.0-9a-z][-\.0-9a-z]*.com" ${TMPDIR}/* |
sort | uniq); do
HOSTS+=("$host")

habtm relation and dependent => :destroy
Hi all ,
I have a habtm relation between 2 tables:
- users
- rights
If there a way to affect a destroy dependance on those 2 tables only for
the last instance? In my opinion, dependent => :destroy is not the
solution because this delete all the linked instance.
For example, if I have:
# in User model this:
- "Joooooo"
- "Jeannnn"
- "Tommmm"
# in Right
