help with ''error_messages_for''
Greetings,
I''m in the throws of deploying an app on site5, and I''m getting strange
errors. I think I might need to understand how error_messages_for
works.
I get a pretty standard looking error:
"
You have a nil object when you didn''t expect it!
You might have expected an instance of ActiveRecord::Base.
The error occured while evaluating nil.errors

errors_for
Been playing with merb.
One of the helpers I liked in rails was on form validations. Found
this was real easy to port over, so I thought I''d share.
It doesn''t highlight the field with the error, but it gives that same
nice little div on top.
Say I had an articles controller
def create
@article = Article.new(params[:article])
@article.save!

error_messages_for - Custom formating
Hi all,
I am trying to change the default formatting for the error_messages_for.
To quote from the ROR manual:
///////////
error_messages_for(object_name, options = {})
Returns a string with a div containing all the error messages for the
object located as an instance variable by the name of object_name. This
div can be tailored by the following options:

Stack level too deep on Cygwin and on Debian / Colinux with 0.5.0 - 0.8.5 Beta gems
Hi,
as it is not possible for me to use a sensible development environment
to start with I have to use emulations. I use Cygwin on windows and also
Colinux. (Colinux is really amazing cause it lets you run actual linux
binaries und Windows.) So here is my problem, which by the way exists
since Rails 0.5.0 I think. It was the reason I tried Colinux in the
first place, cause the error first

Salted hash login generator (verification problem?)
Hi all,
I hope someone can help with what is probably a simple newb
installation mistake on my part. I''m having a couple of problems with
the salted hash login generator. I installed it following the
quickstart guide, and the unit tests work like a charm. There are two
errors and a failure on the function tests, though; the verified field
seems to be involved in at least one of

Error message translation
I have a problem with translation of english phrase when an input error
occurs. When I put: error_messages_for("registratie") above my view. I
get the error: "xx errors prohibited this registratie from being saved".
The problem now is, the site is for dutch customers and I would like to
translate this to a dutch phrase. I know I can translate the individual

Inflector::pluralize("Agencies")=="Agency" ?
The result of Inflector::pluralize("Agency") is correctly "Agencies",
but pluralize again and it goes back to the singular ?
Is this as expected ?
Also, I have a need to know if a word is singular or plural, and to
convert it to one or the other regardless of it already being so.
Anyway, I''ve written these which seem to work. Do they already exist
somewhere ?

Multiple Model Validation
Hey All !
I have a form which contains two models. I would like both models to be
validated, but have their validations aggregated on the page.
If I do:
<%= error_messages_for(:model1) %>
<%= error_messages_for(:model2) %>
It puts two big validation blocks on the page. I would like all the errors
from both models, but only in one validation box.
Is this possible ? All my attempts

How to test views with Nested Resources and Partials
Hi everyone,
I am relatively new to rspec and I am running into a wall in testing my
views. I have a RESTful resource Contracts with a nested resource of
Line_items.
I am trying to figure out how to test the "edit" form of the Line_items.
What complicates this is the nested routing and how to account for it,
and that there is a partial form (_form.haml) that both the edit.haml

Edit method problem with a plural-named model
Hi, I recently made a model called ''news''. I realize that it''s plural

with:
map.resources :news, :singular => :news_article
everything works fine except the EDIT method. it gives me this error:
