CentOS-4 Xen kernel with low RAM and Badness in local_bh_enable at kernel/softirq.c:141
I have small xen VM running centos4 which acts as a router/firewall, and has been working fine for over 1.5 years with 32MB of RAM and a kernel I either got from xensource.org or built myself from their sources. (centos 4 didn't have a xen kernel back then) I lost the kernel to a corrupted disk and decided to use the centos provided xen kernel. All these months 32MB + 64MB Swap was more than

RE: Badness in softirq.c / no modules loaded / relatedtonetwork interface
Hello all ! I get the same effect when mounting nfs-exported directories from dom0 in domU. Every mount/umount/showmount command in domU produces the message in the dom0 syslog. I run 2.0.6 compiled from source, with 2.6 dom0 and 2.4 domU on a P4 HT 3.2Ghz. Perhaps this helps to track the problem down. Greetings, Martin ---------- The messages : (dom0 hostname is zen, domU hostname is ftp,

Badness in local_bh_enable at kernel/softirq.c:140
I''m getting subj trying to run linux-iscsi-4.0.2 on domain0. I tried xen-2.0.6, xen-2-test and xen-3-devel. The same results. I found similar complaints regarding this problem like below: http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0503.1/1622.html http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0503.1/1621.html Not sure if it is xen or linux-iscsi related bug. Any ideas how to cure it

Kernel panic (2.4.21-47)
Hi, We have a server which seems to panic once a while. I was wondering does the stack trace make any sense to you. The server usually runs a week or more and then crashes. Here is all what we had on the server screen when it crashed (hope I didn't make any typos): CPU: 0 EIP: 0060:[<c0168380>] Not tainted EFLAGS: 00010297 EIP: is at do_pollfd [kernel] 0x20

New firefox causing anyone else problems - CentOS 4.X?
Looks like Firefox may be getting another update soon, if my problem is not atypical. Prior to the latest, had NP for *months*. Anyone else seeing any problems? BTW, running the recent Java console from sun that was detailed in another thread a week or two back with Firefox. Had NP prior to the latest update, if that offers any useful info. Would like to test the openjdk for us if it's

Badness in i8042_panic_blink at drivers/input/serio/i8042.c: 992
Hey all, Just wanting to add my 2 cents here. I have a X/OS 4 Dev box running on a P3 550 and 512MB. Started getting this error when I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL.XOS. added the nmi_watchdog=0 to the grub boot line and all is fine now. A strange side effect seems to be the system load has dropped by 0.5 - 1.0 since the change. may only be noticable on my box because of the older arch

This is a native Linux bug. A patch has been submitted upstream, but is already in our 2.0-testing and unstable

PLC cpu performance badness
Hello all Firstly thanks to everyone involved for creating CELT. It is really very useful :-) One of my targets is current generation Apple iPod with the fixed point decoder (latest version from website, 0.9.1) Based on my simple time-stamp based profiling of my running app it looks like decoding a null buffer for PLC costs a lot more than decoding a normal buffer. For example a standard

Badness in interruptible_sleep_on_timeout
Seeing this strange error message when I start up the networking on my new firewall. I'm using three surplus 8139s as my network cards, and when the network links come up I get these error messages: It only seems to happen when the network comes up, and it works after that without error messages. TDMOE + kernel badness
Anybody have any issues running tdmoe on kernel 2.6+? I've got Suse 9.1 + 9.2 running 2.6.5 and 2.6.8 respectively, and when I enable dynamic spans between them, both boxes dump something similar to: Badness in local_bh_enable at kernel/softirq.c:141 [<c0120768>] local_bh_enable+0x48/0x60 [<c02952b0>] dev_queue_xmit+0x230/0x240 [<c02a0980>] eth_header+0x0/0x140

TDMOE Badness in kernel...
Has anyone succesfully used TDMoE on Fedora Core 2.6.12+ Kernel versions? I'm having the issue that is in the Mantis bug database with badness with the kernel. My Story: I can get the dynamic span to come up and show OK in the zttool on both machines. However i get errors every second (Warning: detected alarm on channel 1... then channel 2...) And then the next second, i get : alarm

what to do about [abrt] full crash report kernel taint?
I have a machine with a recent install of centos (2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.x86_64 kernel). It crashed 3 times this week, and sent emails like the one below complaining about kernel taint. I've gone back to a previous kernel to see if that helps, but otherwise I don't know how to investigate this. What should I do? Here's stuff from the log and one of the emails:

Page allocation failure and slow system
Hi all. Every few days I am getting a message that looks like the one I have cut and pasted below. It is accompanied by a severe slowdown of the system. In fact, it's practically locked. The machine runs gnome-desktops for 40 users plus about a hundred sessions of a curses based point of sale software, plus a few other functions, so it's a busy machine. Dual Xeon 3.2GHz processors.

Problem with CentOS 4.3 on kernel and ipvsadm
I have installed two CentOS 4.3 boxes with LVS (from http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/csgfs/ ) but all boxes died withe this error frequently: kernel panic - not syncing: fs/block_dev.c:396: spin_lock (fs/block_dev.c:c0361c0) already locked by fs/block_dev.c/287. I have read from this thread http://threebit.net/mail-archive/centos/msg00243.html that this is an unsolved problem. So i have
