Strange error. Index corrupt on production server
We''ve been running Ferret for a few months on our site with great result. But, just a monent ago the index suddenly became corrupt. It all started with this error message: :108250 is out of range [0..108183] for IndexWriter#[] /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ferret-0.10.9/lib/ferret/index.rb:382:in `[]'' And after that every search resulted in this error: A IOError

[ActsAsFerret] OpenSolaris (TextDrive) indexing issues
Gents, I successfully installed AAF on my TextDrive OpenSolaris Container, but I''m having some issues with indexing. I have a model called Blogs which has AAF enabled. The first time I tried to find_by_contents for a ''word'' I know was on the Database I got now results. Apparently the index was not ready yet. Then I waited a few hours and checked that the /index

Error using Ferret - ferret/index.rb:271:in `delete''
We are using Ferret on our site answeru.com. Today all of a sudden we started getting Ferret errors while users were trying to register or log into the system. I am not a Ferret techie - I apologize if a similar problem has already been asked or if it is not really a Ferret issue. Any ideas: IO Error occured at <except.c>:79 in xraise Error occured in fs_store.c:324 - fs_open_input

Ferret Locking issues
Dave and all, I run a medium RoR app using Ferret and acts_as_ferret. I get a lot of lock errors. Not always but around 5% of all searches (aspecially during peak periods). Here are the messages I get: A NameError occurred in szukaj#index: uninitialized constant Ferret::Index::Index::LockError [RAILS_ROOT]/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:478:in

Acts_as_ferret and auto-flush
Hi, I''m using acts_as_ferret in with a mongrel and I'' m getting locking errors that after a while result in a corrupt database. I know about the problem with different processes writing to the index but I haven''t been able to get the DRB server working properly yet. I read on this list that another solution is to set :auto_flush to true but I''m not

Polymorphic Association?
Hi there- I''m a newbie to this board, RoR, and web development in general. So please forgive me if this is in the wrong place or if the solution is really simple... I''m trying to conceptualize the relationships between a series of models for a page creation function. What I''d like is to have a Content Page which consists of a series of Content Blocks. Multiple servers for one index
Hi, I''m currently trying to set up a solution involving multiple servers using the same index over nfs. The problem is that from what I have seen, ferret doesn''t support multiple processes writing to the same index. Using a DRb service is not an option since this would create a single point of failure. I tried using Ferret::Store::FSDirectory to create a write lock on the the

Error with new ferret
Hello there. I get two different errors, after i installed the new ferret-version. I havn''t seen any comments about changing the API, so there should be no problem using acts_as_ferret as i did before: File Not Found Error occured at <except.c>:117 in xpop_context Error occured in fs_store.c:329 - fs_open_input tried to open

concurrency errors adding to a keyed index
Hi, I''m adding some news articles to a keyed Ferret 0.10.14 index and encountering quite serious instability when concurrently reading and writing to the index, even though with just 1 writer and 1 reader process. If I recreate the index without a key, concurrent reading and writing seem to work fine (and indexing is about 10 times quicker :) I''m testing by running my indexing

Hi, I noticed a 0.11.3 release and gave it a whirl. I''ve so far not been able to reproduce any segfaults with my ferret_killer[1] script, though I do get some errors. when the searching process is running and I start the indexing process, I immediately get: /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ferret-0.11.3/lib/ferret/index.rb:692:in `latest?'': File Not Found Error occured at
