Easiest way to deploy a ruby on rails site
Hi,
i am looking to deploy a ruby on rails site. I currently have some
asp.net 2.0 sites hosted using IIS. I have looked at some of the issues
with hosting a rails site on IIS and this looks more hassle than what it
is worth. I tried it and i couldn''t get it to work.
Can someone tell me what is the easiest way to get a rubyonrails site up
and running on a server running windows.

Rspec/Ruby to test software written in other languages?
Is anyone here using Rspec and Ruby to test software written in other
languages? I''m about to start an R language project, and may also be
doing some work in another language (I''m not sure which one yet, but
it''s one of the ones that''s part of the Axiom symbolic math package).
I''d dearly love a test framework that can handle all three languages,

sqlite3 and rspec_on_rails tests
As I think I previously mentioned, there is an incompatibility with
rails 1.2.1 and sqlite3 3.3.8.
see: http://weblog.rubyonrails.org/2007/1/29/using-sqlite3-with-rails
and: http://weblog.rubyonrails.org/2007/2/6/rails-1-2-2-sqlite3-gems-
singular-resources
Sqlite is now at 3.3.13.
Because of this, if a developer is trying to create a patch for
rspec_on_rails, he will have one of the

fun/flamebait: Java Web Devel Stacks
I''ll pose a question partly for fun, partly out of interest to see
what everyone else is doing to survive the pain of the day job. It''s
for the professional J2EE developer converts out there.
Let''s say someone hired you to write a Basecamp clone, but it has to
be done in Java, say on the Tomcat or JBoss platform. What does your
stack look like now that you''ve

2.0.1 countdown
We plan to a patch release on Nov.15 to fix up various problems that
cropped up after the release of R 2.0.0. Daily beta snapshots will be
made available until the day of release.
Please check if your favourite bugs have been fixed (but notice that
since we try hard to keep the patch versions stable, some items may
have to wait for the 2.1 release.)
Also, please help us with platform testing.

Instant Rails 1.0 Final has been released!
This release is unchanged from release candidate 1 other than to update the
version number in the Help>>About dialog.
Instant Rails is a one-stop Rails runtime solution containing Ruby, Rails,
Apache, and MySQL, all preconfigured and ready to run. No installer, you
simply drop it into the directory of your choice and run it. It does not
modify your system environment. This release of

TeXmacs and R 2.0.0
I have encountered an issue with TeXmacs and R 2.0.0, and I've found a
somewhat unsatisfying workaround. My apologies if this is old news to
the R-Devel list.
TeXmacs has the ability to start up an R session and copy the session
input and output into a working document. The way it does this involves
starting R and executing

Which mysql for a new project?
Hi all,
I am about to start a new RoR project. Which version of mysql is the
current best one to use? I will be using the soon-to-be-released RoR
1.0 for the project. I really don''t want to start a PostreSQL vs.
MySQL vs. Whatever war. I have all databases including Oracle at my
disposal. This project will be my testbed for using RoR with mysql. I
will be doing other tests with other dbs

PR#7718
R-devel 2005/03/07 is totally innocent. Uninstalling Atlas 3.6.0 fixed
this. You can close it out; once I figure out whether it's Gentoo's
packaging of Atlas or Atlas/Athlon itself, I'll post a bug on whichever
it turns out to be.

test for bimodality
Dear R users,
I'm looking for a test of bimodality in order to make some decisions about how to procede with an analysis algorithm. I have not come across any such tests in my readings and discussions apart from the Rao which appears to be applicable to cyclic data.
The data I'm interested in characterizing as uni- or bimodal are frequency x amplitude spectra of consonant speech sounds,

Formatting axis label numbers on plots
Is there any way to control the format of the axis label numbers on a
plot? More specifically, I have some plots that get axes with label
numbers in exponential format, and I'd like to change that to
non-exponential. Thanks!!

Image files in R
Does anyone have experience importing image files into R? I would like to be able to import such files, use R to analyze and compare and perhaps export again a modified file which can be displayed by the usual image display programs.

License for KernSmooth?
According to the CRAN contributed packages page, the license for "KernSmooth" is
*not* GPL. It is listed as "License: Unlimited distribution (from Dr Wand)."
Are there any restrictions on this of any kind? Is there some written license
document similar to the GPL license? The reason I'm asking is that the legal
beagles in the company I work for are extremely paranoid about

PR #927 -- R crash on huge CSV file (PR#928)
I tried to run the same dataset with R-1.2.3 on Linux, compiled from the
source tarball. After 7 hours, it was still grinding away and had not
crashed. I had to kill it. "gtop" was showing it with a real size around 160
MB, same as the peak on the Windows 2000 environment. This is on the same
hardware as the Windows run; my machine is dual-booted Windows 2000 and Red
Hat Linux 7.1. If I

save plot graph
Dear all,
I have a lot plot graphs and i would like to save them.
One solution is to use the grab function with xv.
But it is tedious....
So is there a R function that can save automatically
the result of a plot in a gif or ps or bmp file
Thanks

Modulus operator??
I'm trying to do a modulus operator in R-1.2.2 on Windows -- specific
version:
R : Copyright 2001, The R Development Core Team
Version 1.2.2 Patched (2001-03-22)
Here's what the R language manual says:
"R contains a number of operators. They are listed in the table below.

% Modulus, binary"
Here's what happens on the R console:
> records <- 100000
