plotrix 2.8-3
Hi all,
I'm announcing this version of plotrix because I have made a couple of
changes that will affect users. Although the function that used to be
known as hierobarp is fairly new, there may be some users who are
surprised when they find that it has changed its name to barNest. I will
probably rename the two functions hierobarp.svymean and
hierobarp.svyprop in the next version to

Updates to plotrix and clinsig
Hi everybody,
An update to plotrix (2.5-3) is now on CRAN. Apart from the usual
polishing, this includes an interesting new function (hierobarp) that
was suggested on this very list a few weeks ago. This function will plot
nested breakdowns of numeric values by one or more factors. It seems
quite useful for visualizing the deviations in successively finer
divisions of the data. Comments are

plotrix and prettyR
Hi folks,
Both plotrix and prettyR have been updated. plotrix now has the "Matlab"
style dotplot that was requested not long ago on the list, provided by
that intrepid duo, Barry Rowlingson and Rolf Turner. Mike Cheetham has
contributed an implementation of the Piper diagram, also in response to
a request. prettyR has finally learned how to display SPSS value labels
in the xtab and

a question about taylor.diagram in plotrix package
Hi. I have a question about the taylor.diagram() in plotrix package. How can
I control the label "correlation"? In the embedded figure you can see the
label "correlation" is too close to the ticks. How can I move it and make it
larger?
Another problem is the labels "0.95" and "0.99" are too close to the
plotting area. I do not find any method to control

Labeling barplot bars by multiple factors
I want to plot quantitative data as a function of three two-level factors.
How do I group the bars on a barplot by level through labeling and spacing?
Here <http://www.thomaslevine.org/sample_multiple-factor_barplot.png>'s what
I'm thinking of. Also, I'm pretty sure that I want a barplot, but there may
be something better.

plotrix update
I've run across what I think is a small bug in the plotrix package.
I've tried to contact the maintainer (Jim Lemon) directly but email is
returned 'undeliverable' at the provided address.
What is the best method to push a patch to a CRAN package in this case?
Thank you,
Jesse

package "plotrix"
I installed package plotrix because reading its vignette it looks like it can help me solve a "legend" problem.
The package instaleed correctly on my Mac OS/X 10.5.8
But I cannot reproduce the examples centered on function "lgendg".

Axis manipulation in Stackpoly (Plotrix)
Have made a stacked area plot, but now want to manipulate the x axis: make in even increments (50) in order to suppress the tick marks (forming solid bar under plot). However, the plot functions do not seem to work, and I cannot find documentation for use of xat in stackpoly.
This is a time series of data covering 579 years, and has been successfully converted from zoo to matrix. Data plotting

break axis using plotrix
Dear all,
I am trying to plot some data with differing range in y-values with
type="b", adding error bars and break the y-axis into two parts, one
lower part from 12 to 20, and one upper part from 34 to 40.
I have tried to follow the basic ideas from the script provided here by
Jim Lemon:

trouble with plotrix package
Hello list,
I wrote a simple program to plot data on polar axes, taking advantage of
the plotrix package and its function radial.plot. The basic plot works
fine, but I am having difficulties with the formatting. There are three
problems, but I thought I would attack them one at a time. Here is the
first:
If my data set contains values with all vector lengths between 0 and 100

[LLVMdev] MSVC iterator debugging exception and RegReductionPriorityQueue V2.6
We are having a strange issue with LLVM 2.6 running on MSVC in debug mode.
When compiling in debug mode, iterator debugging is turned on. In the case of std::priority_queue, iterator debugging checks to make sure that the queue is in proper order and will abort if it isn't.
Recently, we have started to see this error in the DAG.

font.lab and font.axis
Hi all,
In the course of ongoing improvement of plotrix, I was alerted to the
fact that setting, e.g.:
par(font.lab=3, font.axis=3)
only seems to work for "plot" (and maybe other functions), but not for
"axis".
par(font=3)
works for everything (except the title, which is probably specified
separately), but there are probably situations in which someone doesn't
want

vertical kites in KiteChart (plotrix)
Dear everyone,
I would like to create a kite chart in which I plot densities (width of the
vertical kites) in relation to sediment depth (on reversed y-axis) for 6
different locations (Distances from seep site, on x-axis on top of the
plot). The dataset I would like to use is:
Distance_from_seep_site Sedimentdepth Density
1100 0 107.8
1100 1 264.6
1100 2 284.2

add a color band
Hi all,
I would like to ask your help to add a color band (Ι am not sure regarding the right term, this color band at the right of the plot "describing" values with their corresponding color.
For now I have only this code
test<-matrix(data=runif(10000),nrow=100)
plot(test,axes="FALSE")
axis(1,at=c(0,1),labels=c("a","b")) #

break.axis all range of data
Hello R users,
I have a plot type=b with x axis at=(1:36),
I would like to increase the distance between x tick-marks 8 and 9, and not
connect the points x=8 and x=9.
I can do the second thing, setting type="p" and then drawing the lines, but
I don't know how to do the first.
Plus, I was wondering if there was a function that allows to insert a gap
without covering data point

Here is the type of plot I would like to draw:

VirtualBox 4.1.x can reproduce bug 45
Short summary:
I think bug #45
http://bugzilla.syslinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45
"Regression in Syslinux 6.xx. Doesn't 'hand over' to linux kernel"
can be reproduced using VirtualBox 4.1.x while trying to boot a
relatively-newish Linux kernel.
Now, for more details...
Under VBox 4.1.x and using ISOLINUX 4.xx, a newish Linux kernel boots
correctly.

I'm having problems installing plotrix. I tried installing it through install.packages, and from the unix command line, but each time it seems to stall when it is installing the help indices.
has anyone had this same problem, is this package still maintained ?
any help?
