Possible R graphics devices
Hello all,
I've been working on a new R Graphics device that targets Adobe's
Shockwave Flash format (SWF for short). It uses http://www.libming.org/
on the backend. Here are some example outputs so far:

url_for + :canvas => false weirdness for non resource controllers
I noticed something strange in my app today. It appears that the
extra canvas path appended in url_for is back but only for
controllers that are not resources. Here is an example I have in my
site:
campaigns is a resource
checkout is not

canvas url rewriting fails for templates loaded through ajax
I just encountered a bug that caused the links in my partials to be
generated as non-canvas routes when the partial was loaded via ajax.
This bug is due to facebooker url rewriting checking for fb_sig_in_canvas to
determine if the application is running in or outside a canvas, and
fb_sig_in_canvas is not sent for ajax requests.

Canvas Tag + Rails Ajax
Hi all,
Just looking for a quick sanity check. I was thinking of writing a
plugin for rails to give rails developers a good way of using the new
firefox 1.5/safari canvas tags. I was thinking of grabbing an
existing ruby graphics library and modifying it so that it renders
via the canvas tag..
So you could have link_to_remote pointing to controller actions that
instead of returning

Dynamic resize of drawing canvas and FXImage
How can I use the drawing canvas and its off-screen image buffer, say
FXImage, to dynamically resize or have its width and height attributes
changed in reply to user interaction with the main window (FXMainWindow)?
It seems that whem I put initial values to W and H of the canvas or FXImage,
they remain with its initial values no matter what I do whem resizing the
main window.

Cairo pdf canvas size
Hello,
I want to save a pdf plot using Cairo, but the canvas of the saved file
seems too large when compared to the actual plotted area.
Is there a way to control the relation between the canvas size and the size
of actual plotting area?

detecting if in the FB canvas
I have been checking the params for params[:fb_sig] to detect if the
client is in the Facebook canvas, but those don''t work at the
beginning of a controller when you''re calling before_filters.
I have a require_login in the before_filter, but I want to skip it if
the user is from Facebook. So are there any other ways to check that
the client is coming from the canvas?

x labels out of Quartz canvas
Hi R world,
I am such a newbie, with only 4-5 days of R experience. I did a search in
forum history but couldn't find a solution to my problem... Sorry if it's
obvious:
I managed to draw a barplot (yey!) with xlabels of 'long' names (filenames,
to be particular). To make them readable, I place them perpendicular to the
axis (las=2). When I do that, however, these names don't

dev.print and X11(canvas = "black")
In Splus, I often use graphics windows with a black background and white
foreground. The S print.graph() function sends the current plot to my
printer but with a white background and black foreground. I'd like to
be able to do something similar in R, but can't figure out how. I've
tried various permutations of dev.copy() and dev.print(), but it seems
that the foreground color is

Setting :canvas => false for URL generation doesn''t always work?
I generate a lot of URL''s in my Facebook related code that point to our main
site, not our FB app. My understanding was that the way to do this was to
use ":canvas => false" as a parameter to url_for and link_to and so on.

No graphics capability on fresh install of R2.11.0 on FreeBSD 8.0
G'day all,
I am working on a new FreeBSD 8.0 Server (remotely located), and have installed (now several times) R 2.11.0 but I cannot get any graphic outputs (everything else seems to be happening fine...)
During install I have noticed and checked that png, jpeg, cairo etc libraries are available - here is the build output :
R is now configured for amd64-portbld-freebsd8.0

Dragging images across the canvas
Hi wxRuby Gurus,
I''m trying to write a sample program which allows me to drag an image
(by left_mouse_button down) across the canvas.
I got it to work ... well, sort of. The problem is I can drag it only by
clicking on the left top corner of the image and nowhere else.
Besides, the dragging is not very smooth. How can I make it better?

Hide an image in show.html.erb

embed image in R-tcltk canvas
Hi,
I think that R-tcltk doesn't have the capacity to display an image stored in
memory on a tkcanvas object, am I right?
I have digged around everything I can find from Peter Dalgaard and tcltk
references and drew my conclusion.
Can you, Peter, or some other gurus on the list, give us a pointer or two on
how to proceed to solve this problem? I am afraid that it may involve

Difficulties with R.oo (static fields, etc.)
I would like to use R.oo and tcltk to implement a Turtle World. I have
encountered
many problems because:
1) I am not sure how to implement static fields with R.oo
2) I am not sure how to implement a constructor that would
call a function only for the first instance of a class (i.e., to
initialize
value of static fields only once)
3) I am not sure how to remove/delete cleanly existing

tcltk, X11 protocol error: Bug?
Hi,
I am having trouble debugging this one. The code is attached below, but
it seems to be a problem at the
C-tk interface. If I run this 1 time there are no problems if I run it
more than once I start to get warnings
that increase in multiples of 11 everytime I run it. Here is a sample

R-Forge > GitHub?
Henrik's advice is all good. I would say his idea of the final commit
of a README pointer is better than deleting things at R-forge; there is
likely old information out there somewhere pointing to R-forge as a
location for Ecdat development, and any bug reports or discussion on
R-forge will not have been copied over to Github.
