package check fail on Windows-release only?
I mistakenly left a write in "/tmp" in the rockchalk package (version 1.8.109) that I uploaded last Friday. Kurt H wrote and asked me to fix today. While uploading a new one, I became aware of a problem I had not seen. The version I uploaded last Friday, 1.8.109, has OK status on all platforms except r-release-windows-ix86+x86_64. I get OK on oldrel-windows and also on devel-windows.

New versions of Matrix and lme4 packages for R-2.4.0
Versions 0.9975-1 of the Matrix and lme4 packages will soon be available on CRAN for use with R version 2.4.0 or later. Purpose of the packages: The Matrix package provides S4 classes and methods for sparse and dense matrices. The lme4 package provides functions for fitting and assessing linear or generalized linear mixed effects models (also called multilevel models). Like the Matrix package,

Problem with making Matrix
Hi R-help citizens, I'm having trouble making version 0.99-6 of Matrix on FreeBSD 6.0. The error message is: * Installing *source* package 'Matrix' ... ** libs gcc -I/usr/local/lib/R/include -I/usr/local/include -D__NO_MATH_INLINES -fPIC -g -O2 -c Csparse.c -o Csparse.o ... numerous lines deleted ... gcc -I/usr/local/lib/R/include -I/usr/local/include -D__NO_MATH_INLINES

always about positive definite matrix
1. Martin Maechler's comments should be taken as replacements for anything I wrote where appropriate. Any apparent conflict is a result of his superior knowledge. 2. 'eigen' returns the eigenvalue decomposition assuming the matrix is symmetric, ignoring anything in m[upper.tri(m)]. 3. The basic idea behind both posdefify and nearPD is to compute the

Compiling Matrix on Solaris 10 x86-64 Sun Studio 12
Hi all, I have trouble to compile Matrix packages on Solar10 x86-64 with Sun compilers. I saw some postings on this but am not sure how to solve this problem. It is becoming critical as I cannot install biocLite() because of its dependency on Matrix. Could you direct me how to resolve the issue? Thanks in advance! Install package 'Matrix' problem
64-bit R-2.12.0 was installed on Sun SPARC Solaris 10. Compiler used is solstudio12.2. Attached is the configure script. I then tried to install a recommended package called Matrix. The compilation failed with the following messages, ....... R-devel/Linux x64/Sun Studio 12: Problem with Matrix
Dear Developers, motivated by the new Sun Studio checks I compiled R-devel and several of our packages with Sun Studio 12 on Fedora x64. Everything worked fine and R-devel runs, with the exception of package Matrix where compilation crashes with the following message. The error occurs during building of the recommended packages and also if Matrix is compiled separately: [...] CC -G -lCstd

Multiple CHOLMOD errors when attempting poisson glmm
Hello, I have been attempting to run a poisson glmm using lme4 for some time now and have had a lot of trouble. linking C/C++ external libraries.
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to load some C++ code using dyn.load but I'm getting unresolved symbols associated with some external libraries (CSparse). I gather this is something to do with linking as the the code compiles fine. However, I've passed -L/home/jarrod/My_Programs/SuiteSparse/CSparse/Lib -lcsparse to the complier (g++), either directly using R CMD SHLIB or as

Is there any workaround to this?

Cholmod error `matrix not positive definite'
Dear R-users, I'm new to R, so my apologies if this question doesn't make sense. I've tried the following model in lmer, and it works perfectly: model<-lmer(aphids~densroot+zone+(1|zone/site), family=quasipoisson) But if I try the exact same model with a different variable, totmas, the model looks as follows: model<-lmer(aphids~totmas+zone+(1|zone/site), family=quasipoisson)
