New version of R-WinEdt (for Windows)
There was a user request to announce this new version (1.6-0) of
R-WinEdt (actually, the request was to announce version 1.5-1). It is
propagating through CRAN these days and (is|will be) available at
yourCRANmirror/contrib/extra/winedt/
For those who have not already noticed the changes since R-WinEdt 1.4-x,
I'd like to summarize the changes below. The most exciting one is the

R-WinEdt question - answer
The answer to my question was contained in
http://cran.r-project.org/contrib/extra/winedt/ReadMe ,
although it helped to receive the restatements that were emailed to me.
As mentioned by Uwe Ligges, Renuad Lancelot, Niels Waller, my mistake was
not starting R before
using R-WindEdt.
Below I will copy the instructions on using R-WinEdt by Renaud Lancelot

Problem when pasting from Winedit into Rgui
After upgrading to R 2.1.1, the usual paste-and-go from Winedit seems to
not work anymore.
I try installing the last 'RWinEdt_1.7-3' edition, but with no more result.
After selecting the program lines to submit, I click on the 'paste' icon
and nothing happens in the R gui (a subliminal, flashing move in the
edition menu...). Idem for 'source' and 'R-history'.

RGui maximized (followup)
Just a quick followup to the query I posted yesterday. The default screen
layout for the Windows version of R (1.5.1 currently) is MDI, which has the
RGUI itself maximized over the entire screen, while the R console is in a
smaller window inside the RGui. I asked whether there was some way at
startup to change the amount of screen real-estate occupied by the RGui
itself since this can be

RWinEdt Install issue
Dear RUsers,
I just upgraded from 2.6.0 to 2.6.2 and tried to reinstall the RWinEdt patch to work with WinEdt so that I can continue function as I always have but I have run into problems that I don't understand how to fix. Any help would be great. Essentially, I downloaded the latest RWinEdt zip folder from the CRAN website and tried calling the library. I tried re-installing it a bunch of

R: bug in windows GUI/script editor (PR#8288)
Hi Duncan,
I am running R in MDI mode (with localisation not installed because I need to use RWinEdt), on an Italian version of Windows 2000 Pro.
I just logged in today and tried to reproduce the bug: the first three times all was fine, the fourth one I got the bug, and finally noticed one detail: the bug appears when I open an R script (I tried several) which causes the "part of the

changing dir. to network drive crash Rgui on NT4 ( PR#282 8)
This is interesting: The crash does not happen if I run
Rgui in MDI mode. The crash seemed to only occur in SDI.

Pre-release of R-0.64.1 for Windows
A pre-release of R-0.64.1 for Windows is available at
CRAN/bin/windows/windows-NT/pre-0.64.1.
Since there are a lot of Windows specific changes (see below for a list),
we hope that many Windows users of R will test this version and make comments.
REMARK: I am posting this message on r-help hoping to reach a larger number
of Windows users. But, please, replay or directly to Brian D. Ripley

Memory leakage?
Hi, all:
I'm using R 1.7.0 on WinXP under SDI mode. However, very often after I
closed all R windows, my CPU usage was still 100%. By checking the task
manager, I found there are one or several "Rgui.exe" still running and took
all the CPU. I had to close them one by one manually. This happened to me
with R 1.6.1, R 1.6.2 also and also on Win2K. Rememeber there was a

Hi there,
I recently noticed some strange behaviour of the command "type.convert",
depending on the startup mode used. But there also seems to be different
behaviour on different PCs (all running the same OS and the same version of R).
On PC1:

When I resize the R-GUI console window by dragging an edge and drag for more

"Rgui.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.

RGui problem in Windows XP with demo() and help()
I just installed R-2.3.1pat under Windows XP as well as the associated
RWinEdt. If I start RGui from its shortcut (but do _not_ also start
RWinEdt) and then try to execute demo() or help(), I get a RWinEdt
