[PATCH 2/2] nv50/xv: add support for depth 30 xv output
Ostensibly it should probably be looking at the pixmap format. However it's always the window pixmap, so we can assume it's what we expect. X11 Device Driver
I have made some modifications to the X11 graphics driver so that it is more flexible about its use of colors. I have added a new parameter to the X11/x11 function which controls this. The parameter is currently called "colormodel" and works as follows: colormodel = 0 Monochrome graphics colormodel = 1 Grayscale (256 shades) colormodel = 2 Pseudocolor1 colormodel = 3

(PR#1065) X11 protocol errors after all x11 devices are
I've fixed the original report and Tom's first. Someone had incorrrectly arranged for most of the initialization to be done only once per session. I did ask before 1.3.0 what the intention was .... For pseudocolor devices at least this was biting since the palette was not re-initialized. I don't see point two on my system, and Martin's point about interruption was first shown

suggestion for example for base:naresid
Dear list: since it took me a little while to figure out how to make use of naresid, I thought that the below R code might be useful as an example on the help page. Regards, Markus # generate some data x1 <- runif(20) y <- 10 + 5*x1 + rnorm(20) summary(lm.0 <- lm(y ~ x1)) # append some NA's to y y <- c(y, rep(NA, 5)) # generate some further x1s x1 <- c(x1, runif(5)) #

weighted kernel density estimate
Dear R-users, I intend to do a spatial analysis on the genetic structuring within a population. For this I had thought to prepare a kernel density estimate map showing the spatial distribution of individuals, while incorporating the genetic distances among individuals. I have a dataset of locations of N unique individuals (XY-coordinates) and an NxN matrix with the genetic distances given as a

editing Sweave files in xemacs with ess (noweb), auctex and reftex
I am having some trouble getting reftex, in particular the bibtex related features, to work properly in xemacs when editing text in Sweave files. I have added (defun Rnw-mode () (noweb-mode) (if (fboundp 'R-mode) (setq noweb-default-code-mode 'R-mode))) (add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.Rnw\\'" . Rnw-mode)) (add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist

problems compiling R-0.63.3 and 0.64.0 on alpha
I have problems compiling R (both 0.63.3 and 0.64.0) on a DEC-UX 4.0E alpha (ev6) as illustrated in the enclosed log. I have tried adding the suggestions given in PLATFORMS, without any significant improvement... I have included the config.cache aswell. Any suggestions on how to solve this ? Thanx! Weighted median
Is there a weighted median function out there similar to weighted.mean() but for medians? If not, I'll try implement or port it myself. The need for a weighted median came from the following optimization problem: x* = arg_x min (a|x| + sum_{k=1}^n |x - b_k|) where a : is a *positive* real scalar x : is a real scalar n : is an integer b_k: are negative and positive scalars

using poly in a linear regression in the presence of NA f ails (despite subsetting them out)
This smells like a bug to me. The error is triggered by the line: variables <- eval(predvars, data, env) inside model.frame.default(). At that point, na.action has not been applied, so poly() ended being called on data that still contains missing values. The qr() that issued the error is for generating the orthogonal basis when evaluating poly(), not for fitting the linear model itself.

cut with infinite values -> NA
I am doing work on changes in establishment sizes and came across behavior that is quite understandable and easily worked around but a little surprising. On R 1.5.1 on Debian unstable (see below for R.version output): > cut.off <- c(-Inf, 0, Inf) > x <- c(-Inf, -10, 0, 10, Inf) > is.numeric(x) [1] TRUE > is.double(x) [1] TRUE > # but > cut(x, cut.off, include.lowest=T) [1]

x11 colortype problems ('gray' is broken?) (PR#512)
Hi, I occasionally run out of color in my X11 terminal. At this point, R will issue this error message: Error: X11 cannot allocate additional graphics colors. Consider using colortype="pseudo.cube" or "gray". An immediate x11(colortype="pseudo.cube") doesn't work as the colortype seems to be shared among the different x11 plotting windows. So I have

Using R-0.65.0 under ESS on Unix
There is a bug in the command-line handling of 0.65.0 under Unix that may affect some users of R-inferior-mode under ESS, as that sets --no-readline as the first argument, and any arguments after that are ignored. The fix is simple: delete line 448 of src/unix/sys-common.c (`break;') and re-compile. The most used arguments are (I'm told) --vsize and --nsize. I find it more convenient to

R-0.64 versions of packages
Versions of KernSmooth VR5.3pl037 boot gee rpart sm (delete src/Makefile: I'll get the version on CRAN changed) tree for R-0.64 are now on CRAN. Please note that spatial (in the VR bundle) and sm really do need 0.64 as we use the platform-independent file handling, and sm uses chull. This will be the last version of the VR5.x software for the second edition, as a new more `R
