Plots: displaying mathematical symbols in specific fonts
Dear SavioRs, I am doing some research where characters in different microsoft fonts serve as experimental stimuli. Hence, in plot labels, I would like to display the characters in specific microsoft fonts. I have figured out how to display letters and numbers, but I am having trouble with symbols such as capital delta. Before I go further, I am using R 2.2.1 on Windows XP with everything

seeing/setting file or directory owners from win9x just like from nt/w2k
Hi All, Is there a way (speak command/wsh script) that allows a win9x workstation that is logged into a samba domain server (running onlinux for example) to see from the workstation what owner a certain file or directory has? Under win2k the "dir /q" command does this adequately. And if this is possible, is it then possible for someone to change the ownership of a file to another

NTLM HTTP Authentication - distinguishing between win9x and NT and 2000
Hello, I am trying to get the mod_ntlm Apache module running. I have been playing with the code and find that I cannot distinguish between a IE browser running on win98 and one running on Windows 2000. My Apache server is running on red hat 7.1 x86. The code does the following to distinguish: if ((strcmp(ntlmssp->host,"")==0) &&

samba and nt server logon scripts for win9x - running a program
Howdy folks, been playing with win9x domain logon scripts to ease my admin tasks with a few clients and having trouble with one item. Basically what I want to have happen is each monday at first logon, the script would run the latest antivirus definition updater, the user would click yes to run it once the dialogue popped up and be done in 15-30secs or so. Here is the problem, if I first map

Latin 2 encoding + fonts
Hi, In the FAQ I read about options to specify different fonts than the default ones for the console (in the file Rprofile) and for the graphical output (Rdevga). I would however like to replace Latin 1 with Latin 2 enconding for both (console and graphical) output in Windows and just graphical output in Linux. I guess it is possible but I did not find the way. How can I use the fonts

Ultime9 works - or wine more win9x compatible than NT :-)
Hi, When I was about 17 (4 years ago) I dreamed Ultima9 would run on Wine. No joke - I really dreamed about it. Maybe the many not very successful tries with WineX made my brain to rebell even when I slept ;) I thing with WineX 1.1 or 2.0 it worked but: - 3d sound was broken. - Colors were mixed up + some other rendering problems - I had to hack a bit, because it crashed when it attemped to

Fonts on Windows devices
Moi! I've spent a fun few hours trying to get a plot to look exactly the way I want it, and with a lot of help from Venables & Ripley (the book!) and the help pages, I've almost got it perfect. Only one problem now remains.... I'm using R1.2.2 on Windoze NT. I want to draw the graph as a Windows metafile (so at the moment I'm using the windows device, i.e. on the screen and

win.metafile use
Platform: Windows 95 Version : R0641 Problem : I wish to plot and save a large number of graphics files in windows metafont format. I have a very crude postscript printing function, which happily handles repeated calls: psf<-function(filename){ dev.print(postscript,file=paste(sep="",filename,".ps"),horizontal=F) return() } To produce metafont files, I

R-beta: R-0.61.3 for Win95/NT available
I have just put on ftp://sirio.stat.unipd.it/pub/R a new version of R for Win95/NT. The main difference concerns dynamic linking (see below). In addition, the binary distribution contains many of the available packages (all the ones that I have installed on my Unix machine). In the afternoon, I will upload the files on CRAN. g.m. This is the README file: rw0613b.zip is a new binary

RE: R 1.1.1 for Windows (NT/9x/2000)
Guido: Thank you so much for this, but I wonder, when there is a new release of R, how can I know which packages in contrib need to be re-compiled? I still have all the .zip files from 1.1.0 on my hard drive here, but I am unsure whether to install them under 1.1.1. Thanks for your help. Greek fonts
Dear all, I need Greek text in titles, axis labels, etc. for graphs. The Graphs are produced in png-format - to use them later on in HTML pages. As the output has to be multilingual they are produced in a loop (for each language). The strings for the titles, labels ... are stored in a text file (Greek, English, French...). The only way I found so far - for Greek - is: 1) change
