R-beta: How do I dyn.load in R for Windows95?
I am currently running R under Windows95.
I am entirely new to R in any environment, with no prior experience of S
or S-Plus
either.
I want to run some functions written for S-plus and residing in a file
"cat.s". The
fuctions also call some Fortran routines residing in a compiled fortran
file "cat.obj"
In S-Plus as I understand it I am supposed to first

R-beta: unix failure in windows R ?
I installed the RApril with all the warnings of a pre-beta version, but
had it quickly produce some beautiful graphs etc. Then, since I'm
interested in regression, I downloaded the S-plus package for Aalen's
additive regression model, and I got a fixed version for Windows/R
already by the next day, but when I tried
library(addreg) I got the error below.
Error in system(call, intern) :

R-beta: more R for Windows (rjune)
I've just put up (12:00 noon NZ) yet another tmp.zip with the fixes
for Peter Dalgaards two bugs. Niels reports that the 3.51 problems
are now different but not solved. I'm trying to locate a 3.51 machine
and will post another fix.
Can I get some feedback on how people want these "patches" delivered?
Should I be numbering them and keeping the old patches? I don't
want to

R-beta: cran
Hi, the contributed section of CRAN has source code in C, etc. I am
using RApril in Win95, How should one compile these programs?
- with Watcom C10?
- is 'lcc' the free 32 bit compiler usable?
- Is 'load.dll' available?
- If load.dll works, does it works with 16 bit dll's or it needs 32
bit dll's?
Thanks.

R-beta: auto save
I'm just about to put an autosave feature into R as per
requests by Peter and Kurt.
My current thinking is that it should be an option so that it
is setable (in the profile if you want). One simply specifies the
number of commands that are executed between calls to save.
It won't be incremental; I'll just dump the output of ls().
I think that the file name should not be .RData but

Attached is a snapshot of the new version of the FAQ. What is still
missing is something on eval and .Options versus options(). As always,
feedback is greatly appreciated.

R-alpha: Re: Extensions .R and .Rd (in base/funs/ and base/man/ )
Whatever extensions are decided on for any of the R stuff it is important
to realize that Windows (3.11) only lets you have one dot (.) and then
only 3 characters. The base name should be only 8 characters long as well.
Since I'm worrying about it a little these days I just want to put my 2 cents
worth in on this topic.
It is looking like a real pain to translate the current set of html files

Windows95 client does not get list of domain users
I have a Slackware 8.1 with Samba 2.2.4 configured as PDC on my network.
I have a Windows95 client (OSR2, USB supplement) that can't get the list
of domain users for defining a share, I get the message:"You cannot view
the list of users at this time. Please again later"
Windows98 clients can get the list of users on the domain with no
problem, also WindowsNT workstations get the

Icons in Windows95
Hi.
I don't know much about samba, so I thought someone could help me on
this one:
I'm using a Sun with Samba server to store all the applications used on
the network. The problem is that icons for those applications will not
show up in Windows95.
If I make a shortcut form a .exe file on the samba-server, the shortcut
will show on the desktop with windows standard icon, and not the

Windows95 ARPing like crazy
Hi again,
I realize this is generally not the place for this question but this is
always where the answers are so here goes. We have a couple of win95 Pcs that
regularly go nuts and arp foreach IP address on their subnet. The resulting
broadcast storm is make even worse because of the inability of our net. admin.
to 1) explain it 2) contain it 3) fix it (not too bright).
I checked the registry

R-beta: R on Windows 3.1
My attempt to get R running in Windows 3.11 didn't go
very far. I have read the FAQ and install.tex carefully.
What am I missing? Here is the step:
1. From statlib I got rexe.zip (and rbeta.zip, but this one
seems for windows 95 only?).
2. On unzipping I got 8 files, including rb1.exe, and a sub-
dir win32s, which I copied to windows/system.
(There is no setup.exe,

R-alpha: .Options$digits do not (always) work.
I am sorry that this IS an old topic.
Yet another task
I think the bug is somewhere in hidden in src/main/options.c ..
##-- The following does not work as it should in R (0.50-a1, but I think
also earlier)
tst <- function(x=pi, dig =3) {.Options$digits <- as.integer(dig); print(x);x}
tst()
tst(dig = 12)
##-- This should do the same; it works as expected in R & S :
