loggin of sql statements
Is there a way to have rails log the sql statement that it runs. It
would be much easier for me to debug my code if I could actually see the
sql that active record is using.

Uninstalling RUBYGEMS
Hi,
does anyone know how to uninstall rubygem?
I installed and it had the notorious hanging problem that no one seems
to have an answer to.
So I am going to attempt to install Rails without gems.
Could someone point me in the right direction if you would not answer
me? =)
Regards,
Edmund

Scaffold NoMethodError on Mac
Hello All:
I am still somewhat new to Rails but have created a successful app on a
Windows box and am venturing out for my first Mac Rails app. Being
relatively new to Macs as well, I believe I have a good install of the
latest versions (ruby, rails, mysql, webrick) but have hit two snags.
First - when I try to scaffold one of the controllers (i.e.
localhost:3000/mycontroller/new) just to

RJS Templates & Safari?
Hello,
I tried Cody Fauser RJS tutorial
(http://www.codyfauser.com/articles/2005/11/20/rails-rjs-templates)
on my railsplayground dev site and got it to work when using Firefox,
but when I tried it on Safari, nothing happens.
Then I tried this tutorial -
http://rewrite.rickbradley.com/articles/2006/02/06/rjs-templates
Similarly, it works fine on Firefox... but with Safari the list is not

PostgreSQL, templates, and test databases
Hi everyone.
I''m having a bit of a problem with an application I''m currently
developing with Rails 1.2.3 and PostgreSQL, attempting to use test-first
development. Here''s the scenario:
* I have the usual three databases, with migrations. Testing has been
working beautifully.
* I need to store geographic data, so I add PostGIS to all three
databases (along with

Strange message in fastcgi.crash.log
Hi,
I just installed Ruby 1.8.4 and Rails using the HiveLogic instructions
(I had been using Locomotive, and decided to make the big leap).
Everything seems to go well, I set up a simple test app and it does
run using script/server (using a sqlite3 database).
I am noticing that when I use Control-C to stop the server, I''m seeing
this message in the fastcgi.crash.log file:

RoR - Mac OS 10.4.4 on Intel
I got a new 20 inch iMac dual core today and am busy getting it all
setup. A couple of issues though:
1. Is the Ruby 1.8.2 install by Apple still botched or has that been
fixed? I recall someone had fixed the rbconfig.rb to get it working.
Is this something I still have to do?
2. Does anyone know if Locomotive is using the uniersal binaries, or is
it targetting PPC yet? I couldn''t

rails is extremely hard to install
I''m on Mac OSX and I''m about to rip my hair out over how hard it is to
install rails. I''ve installed rubygems and am typing "ruby setup.rb" in
the command line and get "No such file or directory."
I''ve never had to use command lines before so this is alien to me. Can''t
they just make installation GUI-based for non-geeks like

hivelogic lighttpd install
Hey group,
I went through the Hivelogic install and it works great. Now I''d like
to run lighttpd as a daemon, but when I go into the /usr/local folder
where everything was installed, I don''t see a lighttpd directory where
the config files would be.
If I try "lighttpd start" from the command line, I get an error that
says "No configuration file available".

Rails 1.1 and Rails 1.0 gems
Firstly, Congrats to the Rails team for the 1.1 release!
I installed Rails using the package created by Tony Arnold, referenced here:
<http://tonyarnold.com/articles/2005/08/10/rolling-with-ruby-on-rails-on-mac-os-x-tiger-for-beginners>
I did the upgrade to Rails 1.1 and all went well. Now, however, I seem
to have two sets of gems installed. Doing a ''gems list'', I see:

Model Structure Advise
Hi,
I''m starting to build a simple (?!) FAQ system, and I''d like some
advice on setting up the model relationships.
I was going to go with a simple system of a Category table and a FAQ
table (holding questions and answers) - where one FAQ belongs to one
category.
That''s all nice - a simple has_many / belongs_to relationship. Then I
decided to add another level - Area.

Installation on OSX...
Hi,
Just got my first Mac. I''m trying to install rails on it, using the
instructions in the rails wiki:
http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/HowtoInstallOnOSXTigerUsingDarwinPorts
I go to install mysql, and the version of mysql supported by
DarwinPorts appears to be 4.1.18. But all the sites appear to only
have 4.1.19 or 4.1.20. So it looks like DarwinPorts is over a month

Apache 1.3 OSX Tiger(intel) mod_fastcgi
Hi,
I''m new to RoR and am trying to get it up and running on my iMac Tiger
(intel).
I was able to get it working with the built in server and am now trying to
get it working with apache 1.3
I''m stuck on getting a universal binary for mod_fastcgi.so. or source code
to compile it myself.
Has anyone been able to get RoR to run successfully with this configuration?
