Rails 3 "RAILS_ENV not defined by config/boot" error
I''m running unicorn and unicorn-rails 0.96.1 and the latest Rails 3
beta gem. ?Firing up unicorn_rails spews "RAILS_ENV not defined by
config/boot". ?I know this is likely a result of RAILS_ROOT being
deprecated?in Rails 3 but I can''t seem to config my way around it.
I''m sure other people must have run into this before. ?Is there a
quick fix?
Thanks

Include with two references of one model of the same table
Hey guys,
I just came across this oddity, not sure what to make of it yet, but
I think it might be incorrect behavior. When doing a @inst.find(:all,
:include => ["hometeam", "awayteam"] ...) hometeam and awayteam are two
references from a belongs_to that is of the same model and of the same
table. I will get a pgerror stating that "matches", which is

NewBie question
Hi,
I m very new to Ruby.
I bought a book "Ruby on Rails" and I think I understand some concepts.
My question is :
Is there a way to not use "Cookies" or "Sessions Variables" to keep some
information about the user.
I ask this question because I would like to prevent some cases where the
user browser won''t accept cookies.
I m from Asp 3.0, and I

'puppet storeconfigs export' killed
Hi,
I currently have a MySQL database containing all Puppet storeconfigs. My
intention is to migrate to PuppetDB on a PostgreSQL server, so the first
step is to use the ''storeconfigs'' face to export all the DB to a file
PuppetDB can later consume. But the ''puppet storeconfigs export'' command
always ends up being killed, I suspect due to some sort of OOM

New to Mocha
Hi all
I am new to Mocha. I am trying to use it for my pet rails project.
I seem to be getting loads of errors when I add mocha as a plugin. It
seems to be conflicting with TinyMCE plugin http://johnwulff.com/

I am getting the following errors

Component Question
It appears that in Rails''s initializer.rb, the $LOAD_PATH is initialized
with the paths for all the components included in the app before the
models. This has the effect that if there is Foo class in your models
directory and a Foo class in a component you''ve included, the Rails
loader loads the component and not the model from your models directory.
While you could

puts b # returns decimal value ( 13 )

WYSIWYG Editors and Rails
Hi everyone,
I''m currently investigating re-writing our School CMS application in
Rails and the only drawback I can see is there isn''t an ample supply (if
any) of WYSIWYG In-browser editors written with a raw Ruby backend. We
currently use KTML4 which is written with PHP as a base. I''m interested
to hear from anyone who''s integrated a PHP based editor into

I am attempting to use find_or_create on a foreign table with a
has_and_belongs_to_many relationship with my current table. I am doing
the following:
term = school.terms.find_or_create_by_code("FALL06")
the queries in the log show the expected SELECT statement to query if
there is a join table record between the school and term with code

Assessing interaction effects in GLMMs
Dear R gurus
I am running a GLMM that looks at whether chimpanzees spend time in shade
more than sun (response variable 'y': used cbind() on counts in the sun and
shade) based on the time of day (Time) and the availability of shade
(Tertile). I've included some random factors too which are the chimpanzee
in question (Individual) and where they are in a given area (Zone). There

Validation Reflection plugin
The validation reflection plugin adds three things
(1) Reflective access to validations
- ModelClass.reflect_on_all_validations
- ModelClass.reflect_on_validations_for(:property)
(2) It provides "declarative" methods for defining
validations based on database metadata
- validates_presence_of_mandatory_content_columns
- validates_lengths_of_string_attributes
