CampingConf?
Campers -- In a few weeks there will be a bunch of people in Portland, OR, for a conference. A long time ago some campers mentioned that might be a good time for us to get together and hold a mini CampingConf for a few hours. Is anyone interested? Does anyone want to organize it? I''m thinking Wednesday night, May 16. We could possibly get a spot at FreeGeek (not likely since they are

Dream Ledger
Hello Fellow Campers, I''m feeling crazy tonight and thought I''d go ahead and announce my new little project riding on the Camping framework: Dream Ledger (http://www.dreamledger.com). The app was written to scratch a personal itch, which is the simple fact that I wanted an easy way to record my nightly dreams and sleep experiences. Think about it as ''dream

Dropping Root
Hello Campers I''m not sure this is the right list to ask but: I''m using the junebug wiki (which is written in camping) for my own personal wiki. I''d like it to behave as a proper daemon, so it will start up at boot, get stopped properly at shutdown, keep a pid file in /var/run etc. This requires a little messing with the wiki script junebug makes in the wiki

Are we ready for a release ?
Hi campers, what do you think of releasing the current trunk as camping-1.6 ? Nothing much has moved since a while and apart from FastCGI, I believe most bugs where ironed out. After the gem release, I propose putting some effort on documentation and how to use Rack''s FastCGI. When that''s done, we''ll have a Rubyforge announcement and such. /me is waiting for community

Squatting
Hey Campers, I liked Camping so much that I had to "port" it to Perl. My framework is called Squatting (as in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squatting), and you can get it from the following places: http://search.cpan.org/dist/Squatting/ http://github.com/beppu/squatting/tree/master It''s not a straight port of the Camping code, because Camping uses some weird Ruby idioms that

point release?
Hello Esteemed Tent-pitchers, Can we get a point release of the current camping trunk? 1.5.1 maybe? I don''t know how stable trunk is, but there are lots of bugs that would be nice to get resolved. Particularly the ones involving the incorrect creation of the sessions table. Evan -- Evan Weaver Cloudburst, LLC

Railsy way to Export Database Schema?
Is there a nice way in rails to automatically extract an exising database schema from an existing app and then in a new app automatically create a database based on this schema? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. Weird validation issue
Hi, I''m having a weird validation issue. Validation isn''t working for certain attributes and, for some reason, it''s also affecting things outside of validation. For campers on certain camp types, we require some information about their school. I tried to validate the information this way: validates_presence_of :school_type, :if => Proc.new { |c| !c.booking.nil?

Apache Passenger and Reloader
Hi Guys, I just started playing with camping and so far it''s pretty awesomo. After much messing around I was finally able to get Apache Passenger, Camping and ActiveRecord to PostgreSQL working. One thing I was wondering about, can I use reloader with Apache Passenger? Always having to touch/rm a tmp/restart.txt to see changes or reloading apache altogether is kinda a pain and I was

obtainl survival curves for single strata
Dear useRs, What is the syntax to obtain survival curves for single strata on many subjects? I have a model based on Surv(time, response) object, so there is a single row per subject and no start, stop and no switching of strata. The newdata has many subjects and each subject has a strata and the survival based on the subject risk and the subject strata is needed. If I do newpred <-

Session cookies not passed on first redirect
Hello Campers! Is it just me or does Camping init the session twice on a redirect? If I have an app and when the user visits it for the first time, a session is generated. Afterwards I redirect the user in a service (that basically does auth) and he gets bounced to the login page - but when I arrive at the login page my SID somehow has changed :-( so there is a stale session dangling

Keeping Camping going
Hello all, I''m not sure who Camping''s steward is at this point(zimbatm? _why?), but I haven''t seen much activity in quite some time. I really like Camping, and I understand open source projects can fall by the wayside. So, I''d be willing to take over maintenance and releasing. I have experience maintaining my own open source projects, and a history of

[UHH] any blogs sprung from camping?
Hello, I just joined the camping list. I was trolling the archives when I saw this: -- The biggest problem in Camping is authentication. This is a problem I propose to solve by providing an extension. That little bit of code uses the path to allow/disallow urls. That way it is unobstrusive. In the future I would also like to make an OpenID client and server for Camping. -- I was wondering if

Campfire API
I''ve seen: http://habtm.com/articles/2006/04/14/meet-marshmallow-the-campfire-bot And it got me to wondering if anyone has heard that 37s will be releasing an API set for Campfire? Something along the lines where I can create my own UI, send messages to the chat, etc. --> Steve -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Campfire: Dissection
Campfire REALLY intrigues me... Its simple enough, yet the possibilities are endless once they get the API in place for it. I''m curious though, how are they handling they load with say 50 campfire sessions going and 20+ people in each session. There are a lot of AJAX.Requests going I''m assuming. Seems to me the server *should* be getting bogged down on the constant

9cays - A Rails app for Group Email
Even though it''s a little OT, I thought I''d announce the free public beta of a new Rails app that I''ve been working on for a while: http://9cays.com Think of it as mini-mailing list software. For a lot of smallish conversations, normal mailing list are too heavyweight (requiring setup, moderation, admin, etc.), but group email is a pain because messages

model mixin module madness
If I have several models which exhibit the same functionality, it seems makes sense to create a mixin, ''include'' it in each model and save myself some work and repeated code. Where can I define a module which will be available to all models? I can''t seem to find a documented place for them. Alternatively, is there a Rails-standard way of achieving the effect? Ben

Auditing mixin for model classes. Small problem
I want to include common auditing functionality in my models. This involves storing the changes made to a model in a seperate table : I have created the functions in an Audit module : module Audit before_update :before_changes after_update :after_changes def before_changes old=self.class.find(id).attributes @changes=[] attributes.each do |key, val| if val != old[key]
