Postgresql and ActiveRecords problems
Hi all. I have a problem with postgresql PK columns and ActiveRecord.
The error is: PGError: ERROR: null value in column "item_id" violates
not-null.
Ok, it''s wrong to insert NULL into PK columns, but rails doing it. How

Unit testing + instance variables
After *much* digging and playing around, I finally figured out how to
unit test instance variables that are created by actions. It was
more difficult than I expected. It seems like there should have been
a more straight forward way to do this. Can someone enlighten me? A
simplified and somewhat contrived example of what I am current doing:
Thanks.

duplication regression (?)
Below is an example of output that changed as a result of r64970. I
did not see any NEWS item suggesting this change is expected.
Note that the example is contrived and I don't have a use case for it.
I stumbled across it when playing with recent changes in R relating to
duplication. Does the example use undefined syntax?

ActiveRecord: Many-to-Many problem
I am trying to make many-to-may relationship on classes Section and
Content.
Both Content and Section has:
has_and_belongs_to_many :contents and has_and_belongs_to_many :sections
and I have an exception when trying to access model properties:
"undefined method `add_contents'' for #<Section:0xb745c514>"
def add_content_entry
@section = Section.find(params[:section_id])

Conceptual q about rails
Classes like activerecord, etc contains strange elements like
''belongs_to :something'', ''has_many :smth'' etc.. what is it? I can''t find
them in ruby lang documentation.. it''s similar to ''attr_accessor'' and
other costructions, how I can create my own constructions and how I must
understand them? Could anyone give me some links

webservices and date time error - part 2
Hello,
When I am trying to receive an array of objects, retrieved by
ActiveRecord from table with datetime column, while using using
ActionWebServices I get the error:

Daniel Berger, posted that this might be fixed by changing the timezone format
in the Windows registry.

[LLVMdev] DSnode type question
Dear LLVM,
When I use analyze to construct the DSGraph for the lists.c program in
test/Programs/SingleSource/Shootout directory. I found out the heap node
in the function test_list() all have type FOLDED:R. I was wondering why
it's not heapnode anymore? My pass need to use this type information to
determine whether a node is heap node. Is there any way I can know this is
a heap node in this

everytime. Is it possible to omit columns when fetching records from DB?
Sorry, if it''s trivial, but I can''t find helpful information in docs.

[LLVMdev] DSnode type question
Hi, Chris,
I was wondering if you had a chance to look at this problem. Could
you let me know how to decide if this is a heap node in this case? It's
important because my code depends on this information.
Thanks,
Jerry

Question: Publishing R/S objects with WebServices (SOAP/WSDL)
Hello,
Can anyone tell me if there is a package which will allow me to write a
package in R, then publish the package using WebServices? The idea is that
I want to be able to pass a data set into R, have R perform the
calculations, then send the result back to either a .Net application or a
LIMS BASIC application.
So far I see many packages that allow R to consume WebServices, but I
haven't

Testing REST webservices? (Not Rails)
Hi,
I am new to RSpec and BDD.
I was wondering if RSpec specifications are a good solution for testing
REST webservices (not implemented in Rails).
If so, what would be a good way to test something like the API described
below?
===========
GET http://localhost/workflow text/xml
Result: 200 OK

Webservices and submitting object with associations
Hi - is there an easy way to submit an object with its associations as
an :expects parameter to a AWS webservice?
I know I could first create a webservice method for the object, and then
call - in a loop - another webservice for each of my association
objects.
Is there an easier more elegant way, so that I don''t have to make so
many expensive webservice calls?
I was thinking
