nlminb function
Hello, I've got a program written in S-plus which I think is converted successfully to R with the exception of part of the opt.param function written. In S-plus it is: nlminb(start=x0, obj=negllgamma.f, scale=1, lower=c(0.01,0.0001), upper=c(10,0.9999), gamma=gamma, maxlik=maxlik, y=ldose, s=lse, max.iter = 1000, max.fcal = 1000)$par and so far with R I've got to: optim(par=x0,

Cheap Array Enclosure for ZFS pool?
We have 14 500GB PATA drives left over from another project. Given that ZFS seems to prefer working with jbod''s, does anyone know of an inexpensive enclosure with an fcal interface to host the disks? This message posted from opensolaris.org

FNIC nested PVM
I''m trying to do nested XEN to give some of my colleagues a play area to work in, and it seems to work - but not quite. I can build the nested environment (using OVM, and I have to step back to OVM3.2.2 to allow me to do PCI passthrough), but as soon as I start up a VM with a phys device passed through, the first layer loses all connectivity to the SAN. Setup: * 2 UCS

Hi. I want use xen with dynamic slices. For example, I have 20 domU based on FreeBSD, xen hypervisor 3.3.1, Debian Lenny dom0 system. All domUs have 80Gb LVM partitions, but realy they use 20 of this 80Gb and I want to create more domU''s. How can I do it? I know that some virtualisation have possibility to do dynamic slices(4 example Virtul box) -- Best Regards, alex.faq8@gmail.com

SAMBA 2.0 Alpha15 in UnixWare 2.1.3
Hello all, Has anyone gotten to compile SAMBA alpha15 in UnixWare 2.1.3? I have tried with GCC 2.7.2 and also with UnixWare's native C compiler with no success. I get the following error when using GCC 2.7.2: 273 /home/SOURCE/WinServer/samba/source: gmake all Using FLAGS = -g -O2 -Iinclude -I./include -I./ubiqx -I./smbwrapper -DSMBLOGFILE ="/usr/local/samba/var/log.smb"

How to apply a function to slices of multidimensional arrays, and not just iterating through single elements
Hello, If I want to apply some f(x) to such chunks of the the array dim(A)==c(d1,d2,d3,..,dk,...,dn) which are defined by A[...,ik,...] (ik belongs to {1,..,dk}), for now I use iteration via 'for (i in dim(A)[k]) f(A[...,k,...])' . Is there any more elegant approach, e.g like in 'apply' function which you can use on margin of the array. Just in my case I want the entire slice

raidz2 import, some slices, some not
I am in the middle of converting a FreeBSD 8.0-Release system to OpenSolaris b130 In order to import my stuff, the only way i knew to make it work (from testing in virtualbox) was to do this: label a bunch of drives with an EFI label by using the opensolaris live cd, then use those drives in FreeBSD to create a zpool. This worked fine. (though i did get a warning in freebsd about GPT

scsi3 persistent reservations in cluster storage fencing
I'm interested in the idea of sharing a bunch of SAS JBOD devices between two CentOS servers in an active-standby HA cluster sort of arrangement, and found something about using scsi3 persistent reservations as a fencing method. I'm not finding a lot of specifics about how this works, or how you configure two initiator systems on a SAS chain. I don't have any suitable

geli or gbde encryption of slices
Hello, I was playing around with geli an gbde after last EuroBSDCon. I liked the idea of encrypting my data which resides in /home/$user. Since this is a "single" user laptop i intended to encrypt the whole /home partition. Well no problems with that. But i wanted the lockfile or keyfile on a seperate usb disc. Which would be mounted or used during boot of the system. I also used

Scheduler: modelling long register reservations?
Hello, My out-of-tree target features some high latency instructions (let's call them FXLV). When an FXLV issues, it reserves its destination register and execution continues; if a subsequent instruction attempts to read or write that register, the pipline will stall until the FXLV completes. I have attempted to encode this constraint in the machine scheduler (excerpt at bottom of email).

need help - where to get binaries for HPUX 11.0 for 2 .2.3a AND winbind
Hello Altaf, You can now pull swdepot of Samba 2.2.3a WITH winbind from the samba ftp site - this is swinstallable and so you will not need to compile - it already has winbind built. You can get it from: http://us1.samba.org/samba/ftp/bin-pkgs/hp/samba2.2.3a/ named samba_2.2.3a_HPUX_withwinbind.depot hope this helps, Don -----Original Message----- From: Muhammad Altaf Bashir

Question about multiple RAIDZ vdevs using slices on the same disk
Hi all :) I''ve been wanting to make the switch from XFS over RAID5 to ZFS/RAIDZ2 for some time now, ever since I read about ZFS the first time. Absolutely amazing beast! I''ve built my own little hobby server at home and have a boatload of disks in different sizes that I''ve been using together to build a RAID5 array on Linux using mdadm in two layers; first layer is

[PATCH] Btrfs: use bytes_may_use for all ENOSPC reservations
We have been using bytes_reserved for metadata reservations, which is wrong since we use that to keep track of outstanding reservations from the allocator. This resulted in us doing a lot of silly things to make sure we don''t allocate a bunch of metadata chunks since we never had a real view of how much space was actually in use by metadata. There are a lot of fixes in here to make this

[LLVMdev] GSoC Proposal: Inter-Procedure Program Slicing in LLVM
Hi all, This is a GSoC 2013 proposal for LLVM project. Please see the formatted version at here: http://pacman.cs.tsinghua.edu.cn/~liuml07/files/gsoc2013-proposal-program-slicing.pdf Program slicing has been used in many applications, the criteria of which is a pair of statement and variables. I would like to write an inter-procedural program slicing pass in LLVM, which is able to calculate C
