New features in Solaris Express 05/06
Will the ability to import a destroyed ZFS pool and the fsstat command that''s part of the latest Solaris Express release (B38) make it into Solaris 10 Update-2 when it''s released in June/July??? Also has any decision been made yet what build Update-2 will be taken from to give an idea of what can be expected for ZFS??? This message posted from opensolaris.org

brtfs on Solaris? (Re: [osol-discuss] [indiana-discuss] So when are we gonna fork this sucker?)
brtfs could be supported on Opensolaris, too. IMO it could even complement ZFS and spawn some concurrent development between both. ZFS is too high end and works very poorly with less than 2GB while brtfs reportedly works well with 128MB on ARM. Solaris cluster express install on opensolaris that isn''t a developer
Apologies for spamming this thread, I''ve currently built xen domU''s using 66/77 release of open solaris community release. However both of these versions don''t work with cluster express for one reason or another looking at the release notes it suggests 09/07 (A developer release 70b) or using an older version of cluster express it suggests (68b). The problem is that

ndmp?
When I search around, I see that nexenta has ndmp, and solaris 10 does not, and there was at least some talk about supporting ndmp in opensolaris ... So ... Is ndmp present in solaris 11 express? Is it an installable 3rd party package? How would you go about supporting ndmp if you wanted to? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Solaris and zfs versions
We''ve been experimenting with zfs on OpenSolaris 2008.11. We created a pool in OpenSolaris and filled it with data. Then we wanted to move it to a production Solaris 10 machine (generic_137138_09) so I "zpool exported" in OpenSolaris, moved the storage, and "zpool imported" in Solaris 10. We got: Cannot import ''deadpool'': pool is formatted

Is there any implementation of VSS for a ZFS iSCSI snapshot on Solaris?
I am using a Solaris + ZFS environment to export a iSCSI block layer device and use the snapshot facility to take a snapshot of the ZFS volume. Is there an existing Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) implementation on Windows for this environment? Thanks S Joshi -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Solaris derivate with the best long-term future
As a napp-it user who recently needs to upgrade from NexentaCore I recently saw "preferred for OpenIndiana live but running under Illumian, NexentaCore and Solaris 11 (Express)" as a system recommendation for napp-it. I wonder about the future of OpenIndiana and Illumian, which fork is likely to see the most continued development, in your opinion? Thanks.

Solaris 11 System Reboots Continuously Because of a ZFS-Related Panic (7191375)
I''ve hit this bug on four of my Solaris 11 servers. Looking for anyone else who has seen it, as well as comments/speculation on cause. This bug is pretty bad. If you are lucky you can import the pool read-only and migrate it elsewhere. I''ve also tried setting zfs:zfs_recover=1,aok=1 with varying results. http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26502_01/html/E28978/gmkgj.html#scrolltoc

ZFS Prefetch Tuning
Hi All, Is there a way to tune the zfs prefetch on a per pool basis? I have a customer that is seeing slow performance on a pool the contains multiple tablespaces from an Oracle database, looking at the LUNs associated to that pool they are constantly at 80% - 100% busy. Looking at the output from arcstat for the miss % on data, prefetch and metadata we are getting around 5 - 10 % on data,

Solaris HDD crash, Restore?
First time user of Solaris and ZFS .... I have Solaris 10 installed on the primary IDE drive of my motherboard. I also have a 4 disc RAIDZ setup on my sata connections. I setup up a successful 1.5TB ZFS server with all discs operational. Well ... I was trying out something new and I borked my Solaris install HDD; the main problem is that I also had my RAIDZ zpool operational. I don''t

ZFS Boot for Solaris SPARC
Hi, Searching this alias I can find a number of guides and scripts that describe the configuration of Solaris to boot from a ZFS rootpool. However, these guides appear to be Solaris 10 x86 specific. Is the creation of a ZFS boot disk available for Solaris SPARC ? If so, could you point me in the direction of where I can obtain details of this new feature from. Thanks and Regards, Paul. PS:

Solaris ZFS native API publicly available??
Hi All, I would like to know whether the ZFS native API for SunOS (http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/source/) is publicly available now? I see in some old mailing lists (2 years old) that they were not publicly available. Is this still true? Also I see there is a java API available at https://zfs.dev.java.net/apidocs/org/jvnet/solaris/libzfs/LibZFS.html &

Upgrading ZFS Version on Solaris 08/07
I wanted to crossgrade from OpenSolaris b65 to Solaris 10 08/07 for my main fileserver, but I found that I could not import my zpool due to a version mismatch. Is there any way to upgrade only ZFS on 08/07 so that it matches or exceeds the version used by b68? Blake -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
