Icecast2 and TiVo
Hey guys,
As some of you may or may not know, TiVo recently came out with an optional
software package for their Series2 TiVo units. They call it "Home Media
Option" and, among other things, it lets you play mp3s on your TiVo.
So, some clever folks figure out that if you fed your TiVo and m3u playlist
that pointed to an Internet stream, it would play that stream for you. Very

TiVO Desktop Support?
I'd REALLY like to go back to using Linux, but have gotten rather
attached to being able to pull programs off my TiVO and play them back
using TiVO Desktop. Looking through the list I see where this question
has been asked a couple of times before, but no indication of an
answer.
SO - does anyone know how to setup Wine to run TiVO Desktop?
Thanks in advance!

Sipura SPA-1001 and Tivo Series 1
Hi everyone, I just got a Sipura SPA-1001 and have connected my Tivo Series
1 (yes its old). When I do a test call with Tivo, the call always fails (it
seems to dial the number but never connects). I can pick up the phone line
and hear the Tivo "talking". I've tried looking around for anything special
I need to do but its still not working. I can connect a phone to the

In this particular case, burn-in will most certainly occur. TiVo is connected
to televisions, and big screen TVs are very susceptible to burn in because of

Tivo Desktop 2.1 - Anyone gotten this to work?
Searched the archives, and other then some discussion in March that
ended with a log posting, I haven't seen anything on this. The Tivo
Desktop software is the one thing that keeps me in a Windows world,
and I'd REALLY like to move back to Linux :-)
I'm familiar with JavaHMO and their replacement, Galleon. But while
those allow you to copy shows to a Linux system, you can't play

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Hi everybody,
Here is a WORKING solution of Flash as a player:
http://macsym.free.fr/player/
The player that Assorgia built seems to work on these OS/Browsers
combinations:
-Linux and Windows: Mozilla
-MAC: Internet Explorer 5/Safari
It DOESN'T work on:
-Windows; Internet Explorer 6 (and maybe other versions of IE on Windows)
Could you please try it with other OS/Browser (Netscape,

[OT] linux on a PPC (mac mini)
Hello there,
complete off-topic, sorry about this, but my former idea was to install
a CentOS on an old mac mini (PPC!). Disappointed to see that PowerPC is
not a supported architecture and that non ARM or Intel architecture are
not managed by recent distros.. :-(.
Searching the web, I see very few possibilities to install a recent (I
need gnome2) GNU/Linux distro on such hardware. I gave Linux

[PATCH 1/5] um/... convert #include "linux/..." to #include <linux/...>
(untested)
There are several files that
#include "linux/file" not #include <linux/file>

Here's a little script that converts them:

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Hey guys,
Earlier in this thread Oddsock said that a player recieving metadata it did
not expect would most likely produce blips in the output.
Has anyone checked any of these network dumps to see if any metadata is being
sent?
A while back I reported difficulty with playing Icecast2 streams through my
TiVo. I recently upgraded to Beta 1 and the problem still exists. I don't
want to

Anyone got this working under wine?
It seems to want its beacon service running before the desktop will
open. I've been looking, but so far, I haven't found anything on how
to run windows services under wine.

OT: Supporting mainframe terminal emulator activex controls in IE under Linux?
[This is really just a post-it note to myself, but I'm cc'ing it to wine-users
in case it's useful to others.]
I was told recently that a company wanted to migrate
some desktops to Linux, but ended up not being able
to because they had a web-based application that
1) required IE, and
2) used an ActiveX control that implemented a 5250 terminal
emulator to connect to a mainframe

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
No audio with IE 5.5 SP2 on Windows 2k. Sorry for the bad news.
But why? Maybe it's a cross-site-error so that IE blocks access to a
different server for security-reasons? Could you please put the
player under the web-root of your icecast2-server and give us the
links? Maybe that helps - cause then the audio is coming from the
same URL.
<p>Regards,
Stefan
