Is it possible to do a dual-boot?
Dear all, Actually, I want to create my own test-bed based on xen hypervisor with centos prefered. However, all I have is one desktop (with a good hardware performance). So it possible to have a dual-boot (a linux for daily use and the other for the test-bed) ? "Boot loader did not return any data" to make HVM to PV
Hello I''m trying to convert a HVM to PV dom0. The domU is a 10SP2 SLED ( Kernel 2.6.16.60-0.21 i386) and is a SLES11SP2 dom0 (Kernel 3.0.13-0.27-xen 64bit). The truth is that every tutorial I see it differently and I do not know where this error. When I start the domU, pvgrub shows the options but when I select the kenel-xen, returns the error "Boot loader did not return any

Inconsistant result for normalizePath on Windows
Hi all, I saw a quite surprising result in the devel R when using the function *normalizePath*. If the input is a path to a folder, the function returns an absolute path with/without a slash at the end depending on the existence of the folder. I know both results are valid on Windows but this behavior is different than R3.6, I do not know if the change in the devel version is made on purpose.

Generic smb.conf file
Hi, Does anybody know where I can get an untouched smb.conf file? When I used samba-swat, it rewrote smb.conf and deleted out the comments that was in the original file that came with samba. Inconsistant result for normalizePath on Windows
Hi Jiefei, the change in handling trailing path separators is not on purpose, but is a byproduct of a new implementation of normalizePath, which now handles symbolic links and normalizes case in long path names. It is not documented what happens to trailing separators, and hence portable programs should not depend on it. I don't think it is a property that should be documented/specified.

hardware error 0x80000021 on Ubuntu 12.10, need advice
Hi, On a DELL r610 (Intel Xeon L5520) and a Windows guest I have an hardware error. The bug is well known[1][2] and seems fixed with the package 3.5.0-16-generic. But I use 3.5.0-30-generic. Do I need to upgrade to 13.10? Or just the kernel ? Or modify the options of the kvm module? Thanks. [1] https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=854983 [2]

This has solution from the configuration

xen3 domU on xen4 dom0
Greetings! Trying to to run a xen3 domU on a xen4 dem0 I run into problems. The xen server ''XEN1''(dom0) is openSUSE-11.3 (kernel 2.6.34) and xen-4.0.1. With qemu I created an image ''M08.raw'' from the SUSE-9.3 (kernel 2.6.11) and XEN-3.0 installation CD''s. The XEN modules were included in the installation. In M08.raw/boot I configured grub/menu.lst:

Strange Network behaviour
Hi there, my Server: Debian 4.0, XEN xen-hypervisor-3.0.3-1-i386-pae I have successfully installed and running 13 domU. I have enough free ressources for number 14. I set it up in exactly the same way like the others. Once started this dumU Nr 14, every other domU lost its network connection. If I shutdown Nr 14, everything is working finde again. Is there a maximum number of domUs per Host?

[PATCH] 1/2: cpufreq/PowerNow! in Xen: Time and platform changes
Enable cpufreq support in Xen for AMD Operton processors by: 1) Allowing the PowerNow! driver in dom0 to write to the PowerNow! MSRs. 2) Adding the cpufreq notifier chain to time-xen.c in dom0. On a frequency change, a platform hypercall is performed to scale the frequency multiplier in the hypervisor. 3) Adding a platform hypercall to the hypervisor the scale the frequency multiplier and reset

Physical disks + Software Raid + lvm in domU
Hi, I''m trying to setup my box as described below: - The Dom0 exports two disks as physical devices to the DomU - DomU use the two devices to assemble a software raid device (/dev/md0) - On the /dev/md0 I create a lvm volume group and lvm volumes on it. Everything seems to work fine if the lvm volumes on the DomU are lightly used. Under heavy load the DomU freeze up immediately. The

question about disk performance in domU
Hi all, When I ran the experiments to compare an application''s execution time in both a domU (named cctest1) and a native Linux machine (named ccn10), I noticed the application executes faster in domU. The host of the domU (named ccn9) and ccn10 are two nodes of a cluster and they have same hardware configurations. domU (cctest1) is created by exporting loopback files from dom0 on

9GB of messages in /tmp
Hello, Well, I have a brain-dead user (using Thunderbird 2.0.0.14) who just won't listen when I tell them not to try to move 5000+ messages at one time (or if deleting, bypass the Trash), and they managed to royally screw up their maildirs... I have two problems... 1. The /tmp directory has 9+GB in it... can I just rm tmp/* on that directory without making this problem worse? and 2.

Xen 4.0 - No console prompt after booting domU but functional SSH
Hello xen-users ! I am coming for help concerning the just released 4.0 version. Install has worked rather well on my Debian Lenny. I have just had a few bugs for which I have found the answer looking around on this list. I have created a Debian Lenny domU which boots up just fine. The only problem is that I am unable to get a console prompt when using "xm console nameofdomU". I do see

Braindead Autoreply filters... WAS Re: samba Digest, Vol 102, Issue 8
It would be nice if one of the list moms would immediately unsubscribe AND PERMANENTLY BAN idiots who use braindead autoreply filters. This should be official list policy for ALL email lists...
