Waiting for root file system...
I recently started having this issue after enabling nat networking for my
domU.
The domU is booting the 2.6.32.27 kernel with an initrd i generated and was
using before just fine. Output is as follows. Any help would be appreciated.
Here is the output I get:

CentOS 6.x, kernel-2.6.32-220.7.1, EC2 and drive enumeration
Hi all,
Is anyone successfully running/has succesfully upgraded to 2.6.32-220
from, say, 2.6.32-71.29.1? (i.e. done a normal run-of-the-mill yum
update on, say a 6.0 instance all the way up cleanly to 6.2?
Reason I ask is that booting into -220 (and I think also into -131 as
well) results in a kernel panic for me. Some digging around and the new kernel
seems to be enumerating the drives with the

root device for CentOS AMI would be /dev/sda1?
Hi guys,
first of all, thanks a lot for all guys preparing for official CentOS AMIs on Amazon Marketplace!
However, I have noticed a problem on a swap device
when I launch a m1.small instance with the official AMI.
AWS prepares two local storages for m1.small and c1.medium;
one is for 160GB instance store storage, and the other is for a storage for the swap space,

Heads up - symlinked GotoBLAS in F14
Hi,
I installed F14 on release, but was diquieted to note that my symlinked
GotoBLAS (http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-admin.html#Shared-BLAS,
foot of paragraph) prevented R (compiled from source, no special configure
options) from loading - everything had been fine on F < 14. It seems that:
cat /selinux/booleans/allow_execstack
is 1 1 on my RHEL systems, but became (?) 0 0 in F14.

Re: [Fedora-xen] another xen build and pvops kernel
Just wondering why kernel-2.6.32.23-170.xendom0.fc12.src.rpm cannot make itself
into F14. It seems pretty stable. Why it cannot be just a package available via "yum install" . Anyway Fedora''s Libvirt has the best compatibility with Xen 4.0.1.
It''s not too late switch back to Xen with PVOPS kernel. XenLinux 2.6.34.7 aka Suse
is really dangerous . It outperforms pvops

SOLVED: Re: Windows XP sees fedora14/samba3 shares but not fedora20/samba4 shares

IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU.
Now the XP machine can see both the f14 and f20 shares. (It was not
even necessary to restart nmbd or smbd on the f20 machines.)
Now, if I'm not asking for too much, can you please explain why this
worked. :-)
Many thanks

F14->F16 Upgrade Results in Win2003 Server Client BSOD 0x7f
Hello,
I upgraded my kvm server from Fedora 14 to Fedora 16 and the only casualty was a Windows 2003 Server client that will no longer boot with and produces a BSOD. I admittedly know very little about Windows and this VM has been around - real hardware -> Parallels on a Mac -> linux kvm but it was working fine under Fedora 14. The client does boot fine under safe mode but anything higher

nfs4 idmapd.conf user mapping
On my CentOS 6.3 machine, in /etc/idmapd.conf I've updated the
"[Mapping]" section of the config file:
Nobody-User = paulbsch
Nobody-Group = paulbsch
But the mapping is not working. Files still show up as being owned by
"nobody".
On my Fedora 14 machine, with the exact same changes to
/etc/idmapd.conf, the mapping works perfectly and the files show up as
being owned by

Windows XP sees fedora14/samba3 shares but not fedora20/samba4 shares
Hello,
A windows XP machine 'X' (the only one left in the LAN) sees all
fedora14/samba3 shares on f14 machine 'A' but cannot see fedora20/samba4
shares on machines 'B' or 'C'.
'X' can ping all of the others by name, and all of the others 'A', 'B'
and 'C' CAN see ALL of the other shares INCLUDING on the XP machine 'X'.

Windows XP sees fedora14/samba3 shares but not fedora20/samba4 shares
Marc, et al,
Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I didn't mean to be confusing.
Summary of problem:
1) XP sees samba shares on fedora14/samba3 machine, but not on
fedora20/samba4 machines.
2) all fedora machines see all shares including on XP machine.
3) clicking on f20 machine from XP tries to log in rather than showing
the shares. Login is not successful.
4) all machines can ping each

Server patching DC stopped working
Hello,
I have been running Samba4 on a Ubuntu 12.10 for a few months.
Using this setup script,
I have also been using PBIS (Open-wise 7.1) to connect Linux clients to
it. I have has this setup for serveral months.
Now if I connect to a windows computer I get access denied and it still
works on linux via PBIS.
If I login to the windows computer with a local account, I can

Easy switch from Fedora 14 to CentOS 6??
Of course I can switch, I know, by brute force : just install
CentOS over top of Fedora. But that would require a tedious day (of
manually re-tweaking panels, adding & removing software, etc. ad nauseam,
*and* transferring a backup copy of my data back onto the machine) --
which I'd prefer to avoid.
What I want to do, if I can, is emulate the upgrades I've been
doing with each

Is "samba-tool' a ubuntu Samba thing? With Fedora Samba versions 3.5 and
4.5, it does not exist. The 'testparm' most certainly does and I agree with
using it. I just recently set up my new Fedora 25 box and used it after

Understand alias-analysis results
Hello,
I am performing alias analysis toward the following simple code:
struct MyStruct {
int * f1;
int * f2;
};
void NOALIAS(void* p, void* q){

int main() {
struct MyStruct s[2];
int a,b;
s[0].f1 = &a;
s[1].f1 = &b;
NOALIAS(s[a].f1, s[b].f2);
return 0;

When I use the following command to generate .bc code and conduct alias

I was wondering if there is any way from either the virsh CLI or the libvirt API (preferably virsh) to get the amount of disk space to get the amount of disk space each guest has been assigned??
