xend-config.sxp implications with changes to network-bridge
With the change to network-bridge in changeset 9955, would it also be good to change xend-config.sxp to use: # (network-script ''network-bridge vifnum=1'') rather than # (network-script ''network-bridge netdev=eth1'') Should there also be more explanatory text? xend.log when pygrub failed to boot
I have uploaded xend.log http://pastebin.com/XyQkEits and daemon.log http://pastebin.com/m0fpnzyR I was creating a DomU which had failed to boot via pygrub. It seems problem lies in Debian itself /var/run/xend/boot/ does not exist on the target system. Here is a snapshot http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4006/4626021351_d1a6f9c014_b.jpg Following was the error Traceback (most recent call last):

how does hypervisor isolates DomU from Dom0
I am not clear with the working of hypervisor xen. How does an instruction executed by kernel in Ring0 of DomU gets mapped or executed by hypervisor and then is excuted in Dom0. Is this thing some where on the wiki page? -- Tapas _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

/etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge: line 62: ip: command not found
I try to bring up xend but get this error in the xend-debug.log /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge: line 62: ip: command not found Link veth0 is missing. This may be because you have reached the limit of the number of interfaces that the loopback driver supports. If the loopback driver is a module, you may raise this limit by passing it as a parameter (nloopbacks=<N>); if the driver is

Bug#588477: network-bridge: start: 95 sec sleep/bridge without a default gateway
Package: xen-utils-common Version: 4.0.0-1 Severity: normal Tags: patch do_ifup() in network-bridge exits badly, if the interface doesn't have a default gateway. Since it's wrapped in xen's locking script it causes it to be retied 100 times and sleep for 95 seconds before it continues. In my setup this amounts to: 16 vlans without a default gateway * 95 secs / bridge = 25 minutes

Using network-script with Xen 4.4.1 (aka what will I do without xend?)
I have seen those documents, I did not see anything that indicates how _automatic_ bridge configuration could be enabled with xl. For my specific set up I have two bridges (xenbr0 -> peth0 & xenbr1 -> peth1). If I have to configure this manually with ifcfg scripts I will, but if an automatic method is provided or is possible with xl I'd prefer to use that. -Gene On Thu, Jan 29,

Patch fixing vlan handling when network-bridge script is used
We had problem using tagged vlans inside domU. Testing shows that this is caused by changing network interfaces in network-bridge script. Following patch should allow to use vlans in guest. Testing scenario: configure vlan network (e.g. vlan 1 on eth0 => eth0.1) start xend create domU and configure same vlan inside it You can see that vlan is still <interface>.<vlan_id>. You can

xend start (not building br0 or vif interfaces)
I''ve just gotten xen-4.0.1-rc4-pre on top of Ubuntu 10.04 using the 2.6.32.15 kernel source installed and booting into Dom0 thanks to you guys! I was under the impression that xend would setup at least a basic bridge interface and some vif interfaces automaticlly.. I don''t get any of that. And when I try to start xend manually after reboot I get: ifdown: interface eth0 not

Xen VNC Hang
When I try to create a PV domU, the VM starts up and I can access it through "xm console <id>", but when I try to connect to it through VNC, the port just hangs. I''ve tried using RealVNC and TightVNC, and also tried on Linux and Windows. All that happens on the client is that it says that the connection has established, and hangs there. I''ve tried running
