geolocation db?
I''m currently planning a social app in Rails that relies on being able to see how far you are from everyone else. It''s my intention to store rough geo-coordinates as part of the sign up process. My intention is to capture their zipcode or postal code, and then be able to query a webservice once for that data. It''s also possible that there might be a database or even

Basically, the postcode field is optional, but if it''s filled in, I want to

ez_where plugin updated features.
Friends- I wanted to let people know that there is a new experimental release of this plugin. I would love feedback on syntax and features. There is now a full test suite with fixtures that covers all the available syntax. Look at the test suite for more syntax possibilities. There have been many additions since my last release. Fabien Atelier has been working on this with me and has

cifs.ko kernel module versus smb.conf - which SMB protocol version?
Hello guys, could someone help me better understand the mechanism of negotiating of the SMB protocol? I watch closely samba list and recently there was a talk about the 'smb.conf' parameters like eg. "max protocol =" etc. with regards to Windows 10 (and other windows clients of diff versions). I read Jeff_Layton-Linux-CIFS-Client.pdf and

sssd config doesn't ask for password
Hi, I've configured sssd so far as advised in the wiki: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Local_user_management_and_authentication/sssd getent passwd/group works. Everything seems to be fine. But now I realized, that when I use my domain admin user account to login on that server via ssh, it is not asking for a password. Normal user must authenticate with a password. Where should I look

[patch] Correct configure test for sin_len to compile on Tru64 Unix
The last versions of rsync fail to compile on Tru64 Unix (alpha), because of a typo in configure.in. The problem is that the code in configure check for sockaddr.sa_len, while the code uses sockaddr.sin_len. This patch fixes the problem. Please include it in the next version of rsync. diff -ur src-2.6.0/configure.in src-2.6.0-local/configure.in --- src-2.6.0-local/configure.in

useful bit of code (hopefully)
Hi, I often find myself using bits of code like this inside ActiveRecord, perhaps it''s useful for others, or others can improve on it: ########### # fix user input before validating it before_validation :sanitize_input # santize input before actual validation is called # this uses the little methods defined below def sanitize_input trim %w(adres postcode woonplaats email naam

Ccreating methods on the fly / counting distinct field values

I know this should be quite basic question, but searched on regex syntax and that seems a bit scarey to me, any one can shot me a quick solution

intermittent ssh connect error
We've got set of servers that use AFD (http://www.dwd.de/AFD) to scp files to a set of receiving servers. There are about 25 sending machines, and 12 receiving machines. All the servers are RHEL 4 and 5, with the senders running openssh 4.3p2, and the receivers running 3.9p1. Most files are sent without a problem, but on a pretty regular basis, we get "ssh_exchange_identification:
