vif-common.sh and iptables
Hey everyone,
I have a question about vif-common.sh. I run multiple bridges attached
on dummy interfaces, which allow me to put guests in seperate subnets
(routed through the dom0). As you might expect I already have quite
extensive iptables scripts to accomidate this kind of routing.
I was just hoping someone on this list can confirm, that I understand
what the iptables lines in vif-common.sh

Setup changes 1.x to 2.x -- custom POP3 account handling required.
Hi,
Previously I did /special/ processing for some email accounts; if a
particular file existed in the user's home directory, then I caused the
account to use /var/mail/$USER file for POP -- otherwise it used IMAP.
Now, because I adjusted the setup for POP only, IMAP still worked
perfectly well. Some users have both POP and IMAP access for various
reasons.
The special POP processing was

Xen or KVM
Hi,
I am new to virtualization and I am having the obvious hassle of choosing between Xen and KVM.
Can Xen experts help me with this?

FreeBSD 7.0 + Xen 3.1 + HVM: Success!
Just thought I'd pass along that I have successfully installed FreeBSD 7.0
into a Xen 3.1 HVM. ?This one went as smooth as I expected, considering my
experience with 6.3. ?Haven't done any benchmarking or stress testing or
port installs or anything. ?But so far it's working nicely.
Here's all the info. ?If you'd like to see anything else, let me know.

weeks at a time so far (ie, has never crashed yet).

overview zlib efficiency?
Hi,
may be someone has already done that: Do you have a script(?) tool which
shows the efficiency of the mail compression if zlib is used?
Something that shows the uncompressed size vrs. the compressed.
Thanks for hints! /G?tz

Can't get PCI card visible in guest
I've got a Digium PCI telephone card that I'm trying to use with an
AsteriskNow guest, on a CentOS 5.2 host. I've tried setting up the
pciback stuff, and think I've done it right, but the card does not show
up in the guest. I'm obviously missing something, so any help
(including ways to debug this!) would be greatly appreciated.
Here's some more info:
The guest is

Error starting stubdom HVM on Xen-3.4.3-rc4-pre
Hi there,
Last night I was trying to start a HVM domU via stubdom-dm device model. Initially I did not receive any error to stdout when I did so with Xen-3.4.2.
My Xen-3.4.2 installation works fine with qemu-dm (or regular HVM guests). The stubdom-dm guest I was trying to create did not really operate as I was unable to connect to the VNC console. The output of xm list showed the DomU was there,

PCI Passthrough question (xm->xl migration in Xen 4.2.2)
In XM toolchain, we use to put pci = [ ''0000:07:11.6=0@1a'' ] but looks like
in XL toolchain there is no way to specify function in the guest.
Kindly let me know.
XM - pci = [ ''0000:07:11.6=0@1a'' ]
XL - pci = [ ''0000:07:11.6@1a'' ]
In the guest VM we see that PCI device is getting 0 function in both the
cases however, it may not work the
