problem after migration
Hi,
I believe I can post this here.
I have a domU ( Redhat 6) running in Paravirt mode. When I migrate
this domU to another host, looks like the domU is freezing in the
other host. When I take it back to original host ,it starts to run
normally and this is what can see in dmesg of domU :
suspending xenstore...

one busy vm affects other vm
I am using Xen 3.1.0 in centos 5.4
I have one VM consuming 100% cpu and all other VM (linux) become very slow (no ssh and vnc access).
I could access host via ssh but not VM. host cpu is about 95% idle using dstat.
Pls advise how to avoid this.

[Fwd: XCP - extreme high load on pool master]
Good day.
We trying to test XCP cloud under some product-like load (4 hosts, each with 24Gb mem and 8 cores)
But with just about 30-40 virtual machines I got an extreme load on dom0
on pool master host: LA is about 3.5-6, and most time are used by xapi
and stunnel processes.
It''s really bother me: what happens on higher load with few thousands of
VMs with about 10-16 hosts in pool...

XCP - file boot instead pygrub
Good day.
Is any way to boot PV VM without using pygrub? F.e. by supplying kernel
image and initrd from dom0 filesystem?

I''m investigate strange behaviour of vfb in paravirt domU (centos 5)
VNC servers started after creating domain, but information in xenstore
appears sometimes after 1-2 minutes after start. Why this happening? And
how can i get VNC port immediate after creating of domU?
Thank''s.

Jumbo packets and xen
We are utilizing the xen hypervisor on nexenta with ISCSI as our
method of communication with the guests (currently ubuntu but could be
moving to centos). Obviously jumbo packet support would be nice to have.
The last time I see that on the xen roadmap
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenRoadMap . Is there a canonical
place that spells out if jumbo frames are now supported or still on the

XCP: VM installation in XCP 0.5 is behaving strangely
Hi, all
I''m totally new to XCP, so maybe i misunderstood the documentation.
I tried to create Debian Squeeze (64-bit) and Ubuntu 10.04 from templates and install them from network installation.
For Debian Squeeze (64-bit), I did the followings:
1. First ssh login into XCP host
2. xe vm-install template="Debian Squeeze (64-bit)" new-name-label=lenny-64-netinstall

XCP 1.0 beta : install problem - unable to retrieve stage2.img over the network using http
Hi Folks:
I am a NOOB and need some help and/or advice about debugging a domU VM
boot problem in XCP 1.0 beta.
I am trying to get my first VM installed over the network using XCP 1.0
beta. I am able to get to the VNC boot window but the installation
process fails after a few minutes with this error:

Live VM migration
I have two hosts as Xen Server named host A and host B in the same network.
A VM is created on Host A. Host A and B have a shared storage using NFS.
While doing migration from host A to host B, how can I see the memory pages
being migrated.
If I run a small continuous program on the VM residing on host A, will the
migration complete first or the sript running will complete first? How can I

[XCP] port usage for XAPI
Good day.
Which ports are used by xapi? I suddenly found it using tcp/13993 and
I''m slightly concern about possible collision between xapi and my own
application, running on dom0 on XCP...
Thanks.

Fwd: Re: Swap: create or not?
I think I wrote not very clearly.
I say ''swap in domU will save in case lag or little mistake with
balloon''. If course, there is no any kind of ballooning for dom0.
Right now we running pretty much VMs for our cloud services and we use
heavy memory management (it grabs and gives memory with lag less then
second depends on usage in customers VM). And we have some statistics

xenballooning
As I understand concept of xenballooning, it allow to take memory from
guest and return it to hypervisor. This allow to reduce amount of memory
allocated to VM in realtime without rebooting VM.
But how we can add more memory to guest VM in realtime, than was at boot
time?
Can we somehow make balloon inflated at start time? (F.e. VM starts with
memory = 512Mb and balloon inflating to +512Mb).
