para VM Guest list ?
Hi,
I just installed SLES10 and started using xen. My platform does not
support HVM, therefore I am using the paravirtualized technology in XEN.
What I want is to have a guest RHEL4 machine on my current SLES10 host. Is
it possible ?

IO_APIC in para-guest
Keir:
When thinking more about IO_APIC virtualization in Itanium,
I got a confuse: How is io_apic.c used in xenlinux (X86)?
It looks like all the machine resource of io_apic is handled in
xen (xen/arch/x86/irq.c), and the PIRQ based on event channel
can be handled by pirq_type in linux/arch/xen/kernel/evtchn.c
pretty well? Then what is the function of file io_apic.c?
thx,eddie

Cannot Install SLES9-SP4 Para DomU on SLES10-SP1 Dom0
We are trying to install a 32-bit SLES9-SP4 paravirtual machine on a 64-bit SLES10-SP1 Dom0 host from scratch.
We have two problems:
1. The YaST2 VM creation tool fails to create a vm if a network card is selected.
2. The initial vm boots from the SLES9-SP4 iso file, but then complains it can''t find the installation source.
Here is the /etc/xen/vm/file (after manually editing for a

Could someone explain me the following questions:
Where are differences between Para-Virtualization and Full-Virtualization in the aspects of memory management, CPU and Device I/O, Network?
How is the performance difference between them?
Thanks

RE: Cannot Install SLES9-SP4 Para DomU on SLES10-SP1 Dom0
Hi Mark,
I had this same issue trying to install SLES9SP4 PV on to SLES10SP1
host.
You cannot do this. You can however install a SLES9SP4 FV guest.
If you want a PV SLES9SP4, you will need SLES10SP2.

Anti-virus for use in para-virtualized Xen
I''ve been looking at anti-virus software for Xen use on Linux systems,
on both Dom0 and DomU, in industrial environments. Reviewing
documentation on various packages seems to show that all the commercial
ones insist on sticking kernel modules into a limited set of standard
known kernels. This of course creates some serious risks until the
anti-virus packages are developed in and

If I put TERM=xterm, I can successifully run the program. It also works

Hi,
I''m trying to build a xen-qemu-dm-4.0 package to support the HVM part of
the Xen 4.0 package that will be soon in Debian experimental. When I
start an HVM domain, I have the following subject line of this thread in
my /var/log/xen/qemu-dm-XXXX.log file, and then it stops here.
Any idea what I should do to fix?

Re: RE: RE: Why creating DomU failed (seems it is duetoLVM)
Hi, Mats,
And more info:
After I modified init script in DomU''s initrd, it can boot successfully.
it is that i modified:
mount -o defaults --ro -t ext3 /dev/root /sysroot
to
mount -o defaults --ro -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /sysroot
it seems DomU loader just can''t find out which is the root device.
I don''t know why it works, so I checked the mails before, and still

Xen 3.1 + Live Migration
Hi all,
I''am having problems using Xen 3.1.
I''d like to use live migration, in a full virtualization environment (VT).
First, when I migrate a guest domain, the vnc port is no longer available
as soon as the guest migrated.
I''m using drbd 8 to be able to live migrate the VM without using shared
file system. I''ve modified xm utils to allow xen changing drbd
