script.aculo.us: autocomplete does not work
I copied an exact copy of "http://demo.script.aculo.us/ajax/autocompleter" to my harddisc inclusive all .js and .css. Then I changed "new Ajax.Autocompleter(''contact_name'', ''contact_name_auto_complete'', ''/ajax/auto_complete_for_contact_name'', {})" to "new Ajax.Autocompleter(''contact_name'',

Heya, I''ve just released script.aculo.us V1.5_pre1. Please give it a try! [script.aculo.us][Patch] Autocompleter.selectEntry()
I made a small patch to controls.js. I moved the line this.element.focus() from the end of selectEntry() to the end of updateElement(). The rationale is that if the user uses the options hash to override updateElement, he/she can choose which element to focus next, instead of being forced to the default. You can see an example on the wiki page (still under construction)

Changing the prototype.js from 1.5.0 to 1.6.0.2 causes error in javascript code.
Hi, I am a new member of this group. We are using autocomplete box from "script.aculo.us". It uses the prototype.js file. We are creating the auto completer dynamically in a table. Our code was working on FireFox(FF) but was giving error on InternetExplorer(IE). So we upgraded the prototype.js file today from version 1.5.0 to 1.6.0.2. Only this particular change was done. When we

Ajax.InplaceEditor (script.aculo.us / Prototype)
I am new to script.aculo.us and prototype and I am having problem using it. It only has problem in IE. There is no problem in Firefox and it works fine. I am using script.aculo.us InPlaceEditor and it always returns object expected as an exception. What I could debug so far is I could see element and url which are the parameters. I could see object in Ajax.InPlaceEditor after creating class but

Bug in Script.aculo.us'' Ajax.InPlaceEditor?
Guys, I am likely going to submit this as a bug, but wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing it. I''m trying to use an Ajax.InPlaceEditor. In firefox, it works great, but in IE, it adds two form elements when clicked instead of one. In other words, you have two text fields, two ok buttons, and two cancel links after clicking an element to be edited. This even happens when

Help ! Effect vs Ajax in script.aculo.us
Hi everybody, For me the most interesting of Effects is to do a visual effect will doing an ajax request because the user didn''t think that he is waiting for something. So, In a timeout function, I create an Effect and an AJAX call: ... Effect.MoveBy( ... ); ... Then do an AJAX Call ... setTimeout(function(){ getJsonRPC().callMyFunction(); },30);

Ajax.InPlaceEditor: controls.js update
I''m not sure if this is a bug or not, but I had to patch controls.js file to accommodate the idea that I had planned. I had to combine Ajax.InplaceEditor and AutoCompleter for a "tagging" feature at my office. With the autocompleter, I need to target an INPUT FIELD by ID. However the generated INPUT field from the Ajax.InPlaceEditor did not include this attribute in

Script.aculo.us effect queues & Ajax.Updater()
Hey guys, I''m new here and just checked out Prototype with Script.aculo.us and have to say it''s a great experience once you get the concept. However, I''m not very experienced with JS so I''m a bit stuck on something I think is quite easy to solve: What already works: A searchfield is observed by a DelayedObserver, a list of contacts is updated vie Ajax updater.

Using AutoComplete(script.aculo.us) with DB-Query
Hi, I''m using AutoComplete from script.aculo.us and want to combine this with a call to a database. Is there any work done so far or do I have to implement all on my own. The only thing I have seen is using results from a file on the server. But that is not very handy. Some words to my background. I''m programming for a project at my university. Our aim is to combine the

Ajax.Autocompleter with an empty field
Hey guys, I have a field that will have very few autocomplete options. I have an ajax.autocompleter on it that works great, but I wanted to make it start autocompleting as soon as the field is blur()ed, so that even if the field is empty, the list will still appear. Like a combo box in windows. How can I do this? Setting :min_chars => 0 (or even -1) didn''t work... -Josh

Ajax.Autocompleter
I have been working with the Ajax.Autocompleter for about a day so forgive my ignorance. Is there any value in adding additional callbacks. I want perform an action when the user selects a choice. So I was thinking of adding an option {select: function(selectedElement) {}} similar to the callbacks on Ajax.Request in the prototype library. Call me out if you think I am crazy my feelings

Script.Alico.us Ajax.AutoCompleter with PHP Debugger DBG not working
I have a page (generated by PHP) that has an Ajax.AutoCompleter on it. IF I run the page without running DBG (a PHP debugger) it works fine. The autocomplete fires and fills in just as expected BUT when I run it WITH the debugger it never displays. I THINK it has to do with either cookies OR caching... The additional headers headers from a debugged instance Set-Cookie
