Re: Xen4.0/FC8/Linux-2.6.31.13 hang on boot
Rebuilt Xen4.0 with linux-2.6.18 and have seen no problems during boot. So is it the linux kernel that caused the problem? Then why don''t I see any problem when I try the 4th grub entry? we have just upgraded to xen4.0+kernel2.6.31.13. however, we fonud that disk offline in high disk IO(xen4.0+kernel2.6.31.13). but whitout xen4.0, we only start with kernel2.6.31.13, the disk offline didn''t happen. I think it is a bug. test case: 57 physical machine we start 5 vm(cpu:2, memory:1024) in a physical machine.at the same time we do decompression in dom0. tar xzvf *.tar.gz tar

[Fwd: Re: [Xen-devel] Xen 4.0 in debian packages?]
Hi there, It is my understanding that blktap2 has been removed from the built of xen-hypervisor-{i386|amd64} because of the OpenSSL licensing and its incompatibility with the GPL, but apparently it is possible to not use OpenSSL at all. What is your thoughts about this? Could blktap2 support be added? Should it be packaged separately and be sent to non-free? Thomas -------- Original Message

[PATCH 0 of 4] aio event fd support to blktap2
Get blktap2 running on pvops. This mainly adds eventfd support to the userland code. Based on some prior cleanup to tapdisk-queue and the server object. We had most of that in XenServer for a while, so I kept it stacked. 1. Clean up IPC and AIO init in tapdisk-server. [I think tapdisk-ipc in blktap2 is basically obsolete. Pending a later patch to remove it?] 2. Split tapdisk-queue into

Livelock induced failure in blktap2.
We''ve been working on getting XEN 4.1.2 validated for internal use and have run into what appears to be a livelock induced failure in properly freeing a blktap2 device. We ported the blktap2 driver from Dan Stodden''s GIT tree into 3.2.x which is a reasonably straight forward process. We are also running the toolchain with a patch which Ian Campbell posted in order to get xl to

Mounting filesystems with blktap2
For those wanting to know how to mount filesystems through blktap2 here is how you do it, as I couldn''t find it fully documented. The instructions on the blktap2 readme file are rather out of date. You can mount them under Dom0 like so. e.g. to mount a vhd file, sudo xm block-attach 0 tap2:vhd:/home/xen/xenwin7-persist.vhd xvdb w 0 Now the device should appear under /dev ls
