can''t add vlans successfully
Hi, I want to add 2 vlans by the following steps: 1. add the vlan interfaces: vconfig add eth0 100 --vlan100 vconfig add eth0 101 --vlan101 2. modify the network-bridge script by the websit, http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenNetworking#head-04ebcc1760dbc4678e83b116afa310dc0612dc39 Comment each time ifup or ifdown commands are executed. The reason is that ifdown ends with

network-bridge breaks networking when eth0:1 is added
I added a virtual interface eth0:1 on one of my machines and suddenly networking breaks on startup of the system (eth0 is gone) when xend starts and runs the network-bridge script. This is supposed to be fixed according to: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi I checked and the network-bridge script contains this fix. It works fine on one of my PCs when eth0:1 is added, but not on this

Should VMs' IP addresses be on the same subnet as the Dom0 and other boxes on our LAN?
Hi. I''ve installed our 1st Virtualized server using Xen. I''ve managed to create & populate a VM that''s going to be used as our office mail server. Everything seems to work ok -- I can send/receive email to/from the ''real world''. I''ve read a bunch at the Xen wiki about routing, and bridging, and security. Wow! Lots of stuff to digest

Cannot have eth0 in domU
Hello, I am trying to run Xen 3 on FC5, but I cannot have the eth0 interface appear in domU. I have 3 servers running FC3 and Xen 2 with various domUs since a year. Everything is fine on that front. I took one of the server, upgraded it to FC5 and did the following: - yum install xen kernel-xen0 kernel-xenU - grub.conf contains title Fedora Core (2.6.15-1.2054_FC5xen0 root (hd0,0) kernel

Xen in a routed network environment?
Hello, I''m used to using Xen in a bridge mode where my dom0 and all domUs are on the same layer 2 network. However now I have to set up a server whose eth0 is on one network and the domUs will be on another /29. So, for example, if the eth0 of dom0 is 192.168.1.214/24, then I have 10.1.1.0/29 (10.1.1.0 -> 10.1.1.7) routed to it for use in domUs, how would I go about setting that up?

bridge interfaces in dom0
Hi. I have another question, hopefully easier than my last: Do all physical interfaces in dom0 need to have an IP addresse in order to be used as a bridge by guest domains? I thought that the interface would have to merely be "up" but not necessarily have an IP address configured since bridging is done at layer 2. But alas, if I don''t configure an IP address on dom0 the bridge

Xen Netloop module missing
Hi, I was hoping someone on this forums could help me out with a problem I was facing with Xen. When I compiled the kernel for Xen-3.1.3 using "make world"(I know this is an old version but I need to use it for some compatibility issues), the kernel was missing the Xen netloop module. There was no /kernel/drivers/xen/netback/netloop.ko in the newly compiled kernel. I think we would

Dom0 eth0 has different MAC address than expected, ignoring
Hi, I''m a newbie to Xen and I need some help. I saw user ''datto'' had a similar problem but changed to FC4 to resolve it. I''m currently running FC3 and Xen2.0.7. I did the usual ''make install'' and I can boot into Xen dom0. However, my network card is not working. The driver is found in the linux-2.6.11.12-xen0 tree but not selected. I

Anyone able to NFS boot on xen 4.x ?
Has anyone been able to get domU NFS boots working with any version of Xen 4.x? If so, can you please post your config? Both the dom0 Xen version & kernel, as well as the domU config file. I''ve spent a lot of time running through all the docs, HOWTO''s and published configs and assorted patches for Ubuntu 9x-10x and Xen 4x trying NFS booting with each. I''m not going

Hi, Question on setting up networking in xen. I want to do the following on my laptop: dom0 is attached to eth0 and ath0. dom1 is going to by my virtual firewall for all my virtual machines. So I assume 3 interfaces, a bridge to eth0, ath0 and a virtual interface? dom2 and so on will route all their traffic through dom1 (through the virtual interface) I''ve read the documentation a

vif/network-bridge and SNAT ?
Has anyone managed to combine bridged network model and SNAT? I have a machine that just ssh''s into other boxes and updates via rsync a copy of their filesystems. I figured I could stage a xen VM for this server with a private IP address and do SNAT and "routing" via the dom0 box, but I get a wierd "Performing cross-bridge DNAT requires IP forwarding to be enabled"

NIC bonding - missing eth0?
I have nic bonding (mode=802.3ad) setup on 2 servers, both running Centos 5.5 In the "Active Aggregator Info", on one reports 4 ports - which is correct - but the other only reports 3 ports. It''s always eth0 that shows a different aggregator ID. Changing the cables around so it hits a different port on the switch makes no difference. The switch is correctly configured for the

High network latency on first packet
Hi all, My setup is Debian testing dom0/domUs with a 2.6.32 pvops kernel from Debian unstable. Hypervisor is 3.4.2 from Debian testing. I use network- and vif- route with a default route in domU pointing to the nic because multiple IPs with bridge would trigger port shutdown on the switch (only one mac-address allowed per port). A subnet is routed to the dom0, which then knows which addresses the
