New to rails, looking for some advice re: migrations
I''m trying to get started with Rails, but I''m running into a few places where I''m having trouble understanding the expected workflow. I''m trying to work with migrations from the beginner; its a port of an existing application, but I''d like to let the db schema evolve as the application grows, so I''m starting from an empty (tableless) database.

Mixed models and learning curves
My name is Giovanna and I am a PhD student in Norway. I am a beginner with statistics and R, hence my ignorance. Apologies from now..... I have been collecting data on time performances of 5 subjects using a 1:3 scale tower yarder. The task was consisting in yarding 5 small logs placed on permanently marked course. Four subjects had different previous experiences (None, Some) and the fifth was a

undefined method `scaffold' for AdminController:Class
Hello everyone! I think a little background is necessary. I''ve been a web-developer and linux user for a little over 4 years now, primarily working with PHP and MySQL. I''ve tried several other frameworks like Django and CodeIgniter and several other languages, including python, perl, ASP/.NET, javascript and javascript frameworks, also worked with Oracle and PostgreSQL and many

How to customize the default scaffold?
I know the scaffold generator is really only useful for beginners and/or very the preliminary state of a project, but I find that I use it a lot (especially, since I am still a beginner). There are a couple of things I find myself tweaking (or wanting to tweak, but never getting around to tweaking) each time I generate a new scaffold: 1) Change the layout from blah.html.erb to

Badlock bad luck
I had exactly the same problem. Your workaround fixed me too. With the new samba packages my samba\logs are full of errors. If I temporarily disconnected the PC client NIC cable, and logged into the domain using cached credentials, then I could get past the problem. But, you helped me greatly with this posting. I wasted hours checking Windows updates - useless. We still need the new

Syslinux 6.03 UEFI PXE Boot
Hi, I installed Syslinux 6.03 on Windows 2008 R2 for PXE Boot. Legacy Boot works fine. In UEFI PXE boot ( files taken from /efi64, syslinux.efi renamed to bootmgfw.efi ) the System boots up into menu correctly. In "default" I configured to either boot efishell.64 or bootx64.efi (Windows PE). But I get following error if I select on to boot: Invalid boot signature 0x00,

Hello, I run a CentOS 6 machine with samba, serving approx. 150 Windows users with samba running as an NT-like PDC. After today's samba update (samba-3.6.23-30.el6_7.x86_64 etc.), nobody can log in. They all get the "Trust relationship failed" error message. If I downgrade: yum downgrade samba-common samba-winbind samba-winbind-clients samba-client samba samba-doc

C6: Suspend on laptop close doesn't work
Hello, I've been running Fedora on my Lenovo X61s laptop for many (Fedora) generations. Fedora 15, however, was not my cup of tea, so I've decided to wipe out Fedora, and do a clean install of CentOS 6 (x86_64). Everything works OK, except that the laptop does not suspend when I close the lid. I've checked the settings in "Power Management", and it is set to suspend when

Storing and restoring sound settings
Hello, I have made a bootable CD (with revisor) of CentOS 6. The CD boots and starts a game automatically (for an exhibition). I have one problem: The default sound settings are not correct. After the machine is booted, I have to open gnome-volume-control, select "Hardware", and select "Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output" under "Profile". How can I set this up

samba problem with kernel 2.6.32-279.*
Hello, We use Norton Ghost, running in a PXE booted DOS, to handle Windows XP images. The images are stored on a samba share on our CentOS 6 server. This has worked without any problems for years. After kernel 2.6.32-279* it has stopped working. The symptom is that if I boot in DOS, and do: net use x: \\myserver\ghostimages dir x: I get an infinite loop where the first file name is listed

CentOS Wiki How TOs
All of these are negotiable in doing. I would like you alls opinions on these topics. I suspect links to them can be put here: "http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/". In the correct section. What do you all think the biggest concern with new users are? I've had a few comments so far from about 3 people. I would like some more ideas on the subject. http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos
