Problems with pci passthrough with Xen 3.4.2
Hi all!. First of all sorry about my English it''s not very fluid. I have a small server based upon Supermicro X7DBN (Chipset Intel® 5000P) motherboard and Intel Xeon E5320 (1,83Ghz) with 4Gb of FB-DIMM RAM. The OS is Debian Lenny in dom0 (2.6.26-2-xen-amd64) and Debian Lenny in domU (2.6.26-2-xen-amd64). Xen is 3.4.2 compiled from sources. The problem comes when I need to passthrough

PCI-E Passthrough - Missing VGA-Output
Dear Users, in my case, i want to passthrough a pci-e graphiccard to a hvm guest. In the bios i have to select whether the onboard graphic is used as primary vga output or the pci-e one. If i define the onboard one then the pci-e card gets unavailable in xen, furthermore lspci did not show it anymore. if i set the pci-e card as primary, it comes up fine in xen, but if i hide that card which is

Using collectd: CPUFreq in dom0
Hello, I''ve tried to get the CPUFreq plugin of collectd running in dom0. But I mentioned that it isn''t so easy to get a file in sysfs on the rigth place. I know that the value has to come from hypervisor and I''ve seen the code in xenpm. The only value I need is "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq" which would create cpufreq.c. Can anyone

PCI Passthrough on Xen 3.3
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi everyone, I am currently considering to upgrade my Ubuntu Hardy Dom0 from Xen 3.2 to 3.3, but I am a bit concerned about some of my DomUs that rely on PCI Passthrough. Are there any restrictions or problems with PCI Passthrough in Xen 3.3, anything I have to look out for, especially with the Hardy Dom0 kernel in mind? Thanks, Paul. -

PCI passthrough to domU does not work with XEN 3.3
Hi! As dom0 I''m running Ubuntu Hardy withe xen 3.3 from backports. Reason to using xen 3.3 is that I could get Intrepid stock kernel to work as domu with xen 3.2. Now the problem I have is that I can''t passthrough PCI-devices to my domu. If I run lspci in the domu nothing is returned. I''ve tried to use the kernel from Hardy (2.6.24-21-xen) and stock kernel from

pci-passthrough nic but no link
I hope someone can enlighten me. I have a quad-port Intel 82580 nic (igb driver) on my system and I''d like to dedicate each nic to a HVM via VT-d PCI passthrough. The IOMMU on my system seems to work, I can assign the PCI devices to my HVMs. The HVMs see the pci device and load their respective igb drivers, and ethtool -i eth0 works on each HVM, shows the drivers are loaded and the

pci passthrough on unstable
Hi, Is anybody using pci passthrough with unstable 3.4? I have set mode to passthrough in the kernel config and assigned a network card to a windows hvm, the device is detected as "Xen Pci Device #0" but when I look at the device properties they do not match the card and I the driver does not load. Is passthrough broken? Andy _______________________________________________ Xen-users

RE: PCI passthrough on PV domU crashes with iommu=soft (fixed)
Fixed : Double amount of memory from 128 to 256 and iommu works it out fine. RTFEM (read the fucking error message) : [ 0.872160] Kernel panic - not syncing: Out of memory and no killable processes... ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Frédéric Abel| RTS France BeNeLux | Quantum Corporation

Hi list, The crux of my setup is given in the Subject: field. I''m using Xen 3.0.3 (release) on a VIA Nehemiah chipset with Linux 2.6.16.29 in both dom0 and domU. Because the documentation on PCI passthrough is a bit sparse, I''m turning to the mailing list.. hopefully you guys have some input. My goal is to set up a system where: * 1 domU VM runs at a time. * The VM can be

10 GbE PCI passthrough
Dear all, we are trying to get our virtual machines to work performant with our 10 GbE cards (lspci says: NetXen Incorporated NX3031 Multifunction 1/10-Gigabit Server Adapter (rev 42)). When doing some benchmarks it was noticed that especially on the receiving side, the virtualization layer hits a significant performance impact and therefore we went for a PCI passthrough, so that the VMs can

problems with USB and PCI passthrough on Debian Lenny
Greetings, I have Xen installation with all domains (dom0+domU) being Debian Lenny. I''d like to pass my usb printer to one of those domU domains. I couldn''t make usb passthrough to work, so I decided that I will pass the whole usb controller to the domU. It didn''t worked either. I have read tons of internet howtos only to find the solutions proposed don''t

Is PCI passthrough fixed in unstable ??
Hi, When setting up my Xen box, I needed PCI passthrough (for a pair of DVB cards). This works very well for mid-august testing Xen, but im having networking problems. I understand that the PCI passthrough code was broken in Unstable at that date - is this still the case? any workarounds? thanks g _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

PCI Passthrough for VT enabled hosts
Is pci passthrough enabled for VT enabled hosts? Searching through the mailing list, it appears that as of March, pci passthrough only worked on paravirtualized hosts, not unmodified hosts. Has this situation changed? Thanks --Nathan White _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

USB PCI Passthrough System Instability
I recently managed to get PCI Passthrough to work for a Windows HVM operating under Xen 3.2 on Fedora 8. I needed to get USB ports passed through to the Windows VM with full hot plug functionality and I was able to get that working using a Dell 755 with a USB PCI expansion card. However, when trying to bring the box up to an operational status status I have encountered some rather severe

Question about backporting pci passthrough fix to 2.6.18
Hi, I have a question about the bug: http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1632 This is marked as fixed in the pv-ops kernel. I am working for a company developing a xen based virtualisation solution. Unfortunately the design is tied to CentOS and there is resistance to upgrade to > 2.6.31 kernel. My question is whether it is possible for me to try to backport the fixes for

pci passthrough question. Do I need VT-D ?
Hi, I really need help. I spent 2 days already on this pci passthrough thing. I''m using Xen 3.2.1 with Centos 5.2 64 bits on intel VT. I''d like to use PCI passthrough and I don''t think I need VT-D functionality. I''m trying to pass PCI 12:01.0 to my domU guest. I got this error when I use "xm create /etc/xen/hvm_centos_2.cfg" Using config file
