XCP Users: As many of you are aware, there are several open source products available for everyone to use when working with XCP. I would like to get some feedback on the various tools to get a feeling on how people are using XCP and these tools. S3 (Suspend to Disk) with XEN
Hi All, I have a 5.4 box and testing xen 3.4 on kernel-xen-2.6.18-164.6.1.el5. As you know, there are no enough configuration to do "Suspend to Disk" of the .config of the kernel-xen-2.6.18-164.6.1.el5. # Power management options (ACPI, APM) # CONFIG_PM=y Then, I tied to get the kernel-2.6.18-164.6.1.el5.src.rpm, installed that. #pwd

Convirt + CentOS 5
Hi There, I am currently running CentOS 5.1 with the RPMs that come with the "Virtualization" package and using the virt-manager gui. I really like the look of "convirt" (formerly "xenman") and was thinking of doing the following: - Compile the SRPMs for Xen 3.2 from source and install over top of the existing Xen (I have an x86_64 machine) - Use the

Re: First XEN install: Installing XEN in virtual machine? &Remote GUI for XEN? & etc.
1) No, not necessarily. Many VM systems (Parallels, VMware, even XEN HVMs) emulate Ring 0 access for the operating system running on top of it, so there isn''t any reason for direct hardware access. However, you really should grab some older or cheaper hardware and install Xen directly on the hardware - it will be very, very slow running inside parallels. 2) There really isn''t

Any experience with Eucalyptus on Centos 5.x?
Is anyone here running Eucalyptus (open source cloud computing manager, similar to Amazon EC2, from UC Santa Barbara)? Have you got any hints for bringing it up? Thanks! Rick

Shared storage between open Xen, VMware ESX, XenServer, KVM and a normal Linux...
Guys! I have one fiber channel IBM storage (10T) and 8 HP Proliant servers with 32G of RAM on each and 1 HP with 4G of RAM. My question is: * How to use the same storage (block device) with all my different virtualization servers simultaneously? I have 2 open source Xen with CentOS 5.4, 2 VMWare ESX, 2 Citrix XenServer, 2 KVM powered by Ubuntu and 1 Debian exporting the IBM storage to a SAN

KVM management tools.....
Looking at what my best options for managing KVM via a gui. Running Centos 5.4 and have several machines and want to migrate off of vmware server 2.x. So far it appears that the management tools haven't quite cought up to Vmware but are gaining and closing. I have been looking at convirt, and others. I like what I see in Ovirt but I'm not sure it is available for centos 5.4, or is it?

management tools for kvm
I have been installing kvm guests on a number of hosts and have been managing them through a single virt manager on one of the hosts. I am looking for a tool that will allow me to manage them from a windows workstation, possibly using a web interface. Everything I've looked at and read about seems to require a linux workstation to install on, like oVirt or ConVirt. I am looking for a product

Partition vs disk images
I realize this might be one of those religious topics, but is there any good rule of thumb as to how to setup storage for a Xen domU? Without really knowing any better, I''m basically going to make a disk image of the OS and the create a ''data'' partition on my raid 5 volume for each virtual machine. This is for use at home, so in reality it probably doesn''t
