I''m currently using xen 4.1 on an Ubuntu 12.04 Dom0 and I''m trying to passthrough the machines phyical cdom drive as ''phy:/dev/cdrom,hdc:cdrom,r'' in the config file. If a cd is present in the drive on bootup everything works fine; I can read data from the disk, eject it and so on. If however the drive is empty on startup I get a bsod of type

GPLPV xennet bsod when vcpu>15
Hello, I installed the signed drivers from http://wiki.univention.de/index.php?title=Installing-signed-GPLPV-drivers and I ran into a BSOD on a Windows 2008 Server R2 Enterprise domU with a large number of vcpu''s. The BSOD is related to xennet.sys. After some trials I found that it runs fine up to 15 cores. From 16 or more, the BSOD kicks in when booting the domU. The hardware (4 times

unistalling gplpv from win7x64 gives BSOD
I have installed the 210 gplpv (debug), when I try to update them with current gplpv I get a BSOD even so when I try to uninstall them. Now I have made a bootentry that specifies NOGPLPV, what gives me a bootable system after such a crash, I found (uninstalling the leftover driver packages after getting bsod during uninstall of the main package) that uninstalling the net driver leads to bsod. Now

GPLPV drivers update
I have just uploaded a new testing version of GPL PV drivers for Windows. Have a look for 0.10.0.97-dontuse at http://www.meadowcourt.org/downloads (the -dontuse bit is to scare people away who haven''t read this email :) As usual, please test thoroughly on a test DomU and make sure you have a backup before installing on a non-test system. In particular, I''m only testing with Xen

GPLPV: XenNet Full on send - required = 3, available = 0
I saw some really bad things happening on our production servers. First dom0: Ubuntu xen1 2.6.24-24-xen Xen 3.4.0 compiled from source. I don''t remember exactly what GPLPV version was installed but I know for sure from early 10.x series. domU: Windows Server 2008 64-bit (Test mode enabled) Second dom0 has almost identical setup, thou on different hardware. No module xennet found for kernel 2.6.18.8-xen
Hi all, when I try to build an initial ramdisk with the option --with=xennet, I get the following error No module xennet found for kernel 2.6.18.8-xen I looked at the /lib/modules/2.6.18.8-xen/kernel/drivers/xen and there is no xennet module over there, which causes the problem. How can I get the xennet module? Thanks, Luca _______________________________________________ Xen-users

Initrd creation problem (Cannot determine dependencies of module xennet)
Hi List, I''d compiled Xen-3.0.3-testing (changeset 11740) on Suse 10.0 Enterprise Server. The compilation succeeded without any errors but the mkinitrd command fails(???) The initrd is being created but when loading the xen kernel, I get the following message repeatedly: "azx_get_reponse() timeout" after pressing ^c the computer continue to run... Then, when I start a gnome

trouble with xennet gplpv in win7x64 xen(xvm)3.4
I have some real problems with the xennet, when disable and try to enable the nic I get a BSoD due to ndis.sys Further more the system still fails to get an IP using dhcp. The box is after a lot of cleanup, now on the 217 GPLPV. I could provide additional details on demand next week. (I''m unsure to get the machine earlier in my reach due to an on site power outage) thx, Florian

xennet and xenblk
Dear Fellow Xen Users: I am as green as grass and trying to install Xen 3.1.0 on to a brand new machine running SuSE 10.3. I am at the point where Xen starts to boot and quits on a "Waiting for device......./dev/sda5" message. I believe that this may be related to the fact that xennet and xenblk are missing, as far as I can tell, from my

GPLPV drivers suspected to hinder live migration to different CPU type
Hi, I''ve noticed that on a Xen cluster with three nodes (two E5620 CPUs and one E5140 CPU) live migration works perfectly in between to two E5620 nodes, but fails to and from the E5140. The error message is about a HVM context not being able to be set. I strongly suspect the use 238 GPPVL drivers, but I cannot uninstall them at this point because someone else needs the server. Could

[GPLPV] Xennet device issues on Win2k3 x32 DomU/Disabling just one PV device
Hi there. I have been dealing with a conundrum off and on with a VPS of mine. Windows 2003 Standard 32 bit on a Xen HVM instance. Been trying to get the GPLPV drivers working to help boost performance but always seem to run into one major issue: The PV network device looks like it works but actual connectivity is non-existant. Everything else in the GPLPV driver suite works fine. What I want to

Windows 2008 R2 64 bit BSoD
Hello. I''m trying to get the lastest GPLPV binary (rev 238) working on an Ubuntu Server host with Xen 4, but I''ve got some problems. The guest is a 64 bit Windows 2008 R2. After enabling test mode and rebooting, installing and rebooting again (with /NOGPLPV) I can see all the Xen devices, but two (out of three) Xen Block Device Driver have an exclamation mark; I don''t

xennet windows pv performance
I''ve just pushed some changes to hg that seem to speed things up a bit for me. On one machine with 2 x dual core 2.4Ghz AMD cpu''s, testing with iperf from DomU to Dom0 I get: Windows (vcpus = 2) - ~500MBits/sec - ~66% cpu utilization (eg 100% on one, and 33% on the second cpu) Linux (vcpus = 1) - ~2200MBits/sec On another machine with 1 x dual core 1.8Ghz AMD cpu, testing as

Xen 3.2 with Ubuntu 8.04 (64-Bit) on Intel Nehalem (i7)
Hallo list, i am testing a Dell M610 with two quadcore Intel Nehalem CPUs at the moment, so with Hyper-Threading 16 cores in total. As mentioned in the subject I am using Ubuntu 8.04 64Bit and Xen 3.2 from Ubuntu package. During these tests I hit on some issues, which are not clear to me. I would be thankful for any comments/hints/thoughts on the following topics: 1. I recognized that

[LLVMdev] How does SSEDomainFix work?
Hello. This is my 1st post. I have tried SSE execution domain fixup pass. But I am not able to see any improvements. I expect for the example below to use MOVDQA, PAND &c. (On nehalem, ANDPS is extremely slower than PAND) Please tell me if something would be wrong for me. Thank you.
