Guest to Host communication
Hi, My name is Jose and I work at Google on the Ganeti project. I am using Xen 4.0. I would like to ask your advice on what you think is the best way to send data between the guest and the host, for example, the guest OS tells Ganeti that it wants to be reinstalled at reboot time. Even a simple integer suffices for our purposes. We have considered adding a new device, such as, a char/block

Introducing snf-image-creator
Hello all, I'd like to introduce to you snf-image-creator, an OS image creation tool that makes heavy use of libguestfs. We have been developing it for almost 3 years and use it with the Synnefo[1] open source IaaS cloud software and also with Google's Ganeti[2] cluster management software. However it is completely independent from the above solutions and can be used as a generic image

Would you be interested in having such a tool in the libguestfs umbrella ? My aim is too have a free toolchain to build VirtualBox images for Debian (for Vagrant to be more exact, see https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Cloud/VagrantBaseBoxes) Interface for

Configuring Xen + DRBD + Corosync + Pacemaker
Hi everyone, I need some help to setup my configuration failover system. My goal is to have a redundance system using Xen + DRBD + Corosync + Pacemaker On Xen I will have one virtual machine. When this computer has network down, I will do a Live migration to the second computer. The first configuration I will need is a crossover cable, won''t I? It is really necessary? Ok, I did it. eth0

For those who didn't notice it yet: At this years FOSDEM, in Brussel, Belgium, I will give a talk about an overview of the virtualizations stuff available in Debian, especially the new things coming into appearance in Lenny and sid since I gave the similar talk at last year's debconf. It's happening in the Debian developers room. For that, I will also do some testing about the dom0

observations on XCP
XCP is useful and works well for some people - is there any reason not to simply leave the last released version in the archive and stop trying to package new versions? Even if those don't have the latest features, they are still useful in comparison to alternatives. There are many products (e.g. procmail) that are extremely popular but have not been formally supported by any upstream for

Xen tools
I have been playing around with Citrix XenServer Express. It seems pretty cool, and mostly meets my needs, except that the Express (Free) version only supports up to 4GB of RAM. I have 8GB on my machines. Since XenServer is based on Xen, I should be able to just install a base install of CentOS and use a third party management client to get all (most?) of the functionality of the XenServer
