Shared SAN disk LUN between 2 servers and migration problem
HI Dom0 is CentOS 5.2, 64-bit, Xen version 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. I got Fiber SAN disk system and 2 servers and i am making shared LUN available to both servers. Then i got multipath layer running on both Dom0s and so Xen is seeing device-mapper file, instead of two /dev/sdX devices, then i have setup Xen domU (HVM Windows 2003) using /dev/mapper/sharedLUN as physical storage to my windows server.

GPLPV 0.10.0.69 Blue Screen 0x0000007B
Trying to install them on Xen 3.4.0, Intel E5345 Processors, Server 2008 64bit. I get the BSoD on boot with the 0x0000007B stop message. I''ve got a bunch of 2003 32bits running on the same host with the 0.10.0.69 drivers and those are totally happy. I tried the boot once with NOGPLPV idea mentioned in another thread, that didn''t do the trick. Ideas anyone? pace

Windows GPLPV xenvbd.sys BSOD
Hi, During the install of the univention.de-signed GPLPV drivers (gplpv_Vista2008x64_signed_0.11.0.308.msi) on my Windows 7 guest, I get a BSOD "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" in xenvbd.sys. Afterwards, Windows won''t start. I''m now trying to do a System Restore. I will try not installing the VBD driver afterwards and see if the others do work. Full BSOD:

Xen vs VMWare comparison paper
One of my customers handed me a copy of this paper and asked why are we using xen if it is so slow... http://morse.colorado.edu/~tlen5710/12s/VMware.pdf which is a fairly damning report of performance under Xen in comparison to VMWare, citing worse than 50% overhead of Xen in comparison to physical. Has anyone seen this paper before? James

installing Windows 2008 R2
Hi all, I''ve been trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2 under Xen 3.1 on Red Hat, but it keeps blue screening after the first reboot during the install. It seems to only affect 2008 R2. Windows Server 2008 installs fine, rebooting a couple of times along the way. With R2, it will go through the initial unpack and install, and then it reboots. I''m installing it

Problems with GPLPV network latency
Hi, DomU is a Win2008 R2 64 When i install the GPLPV drivers the network latency goes from 15ms to random numbers up to 1200ms and eventually dies. If you run a ping from the DomU to another host the network stays alive but the high latency is still there. Further more if i try and uninstall the network driver i am unable to use the old one (realtek) as it cannot detect the device.

GPLPV drivers suspected to hinder live migration to different CPU type
Hi, I''ve noticed that on a Xen cluster with three nodes (two E5620 CPUs and one E5140 CPU) live migration works perfectly in between to two E5620 nodes, but fails to and from the E5140. The error message is about a HVM context not being able to be set. I strongly suspect the use 238 GPPVL drivers, but I cannot uninstall them at this point because someone else needs the server. Could

BSOD with GPLPV windows drivers
Hello. I have encountered a problem with GPLPV drivers for windows. It is similar (if not the same) as http://old-list-archives.xen.org/archives/html/xen-users/2011-02/msg00709.html Host is running 14 virtual machines with Windows XP. When I''m trying to start 15-th windows VM it crashes with code 0x0000007b. Booting to safe mode or with /nogplpv works ok. 15-th VM works fine if

Another GPLPV pre-release 0.9.11-pre7
I''ve just uploaded 0.9.11-pre7. save/restore should be working for 32 bits on both SMP and UP, and maybe for 64 bits although it''s not tested. If someone could test migration it would be much appreciated. The installer seems to not install the drivers under 64 bit environment... but they can then be installed manually. Not sure why at this point.

GPLPV, clock drift and PVUSB in Windows XP HVM
1. Shouldn''t the GPLPV drivers take care of the (bad) clock drift I''m experiencing in my Windows XP HVM? Or is there some other way around this problem that I haven''t been able to find on Google? How can I tell if the GPLPV drivers are active? I''ve added the /gplpv switch to the boot.ini file and the virtual NIC is definitely using the GPLPV version but other

PoD, 4.2, and current/maximum reservation
A user has pointed out a problem with GPLPV under Xen 4.2 when using PoD. I''m using the difference between XENMEM_maximum_reservation and XENMEM_current_reservation to tell me how much I should balloon down to account for PoD, but when the user has ballooned down to 1G (from 4Gb or 8GB), GPLPV logs the following: 13005008825593: XenPCI XENMEM_maximum_reservation = 262400
