How to Backup and Restore MBR within Logical Volumes?
Hi All, I have several Xen virtual machines within logical volumes using LVM2. I did not use disk images for performance reasons. Conventionally, if I want to clone my virtual machines, I have to dd the LV to an image file. But this consumes a lot of time and harddisk space. So, instead of doing that, I want to use losetup and kpartx with my logical volumes, which contain operating systems of

Finding real cpuinfo and meminfo
I have to collect cpuinfo and meminfo from hundreds of machines in preparation of updating our inventory and Xen version. Since we pin cpu and ram for dom0, this mangles the info. Is there way to get the real information? I know that xm top will give me the true RAM, but I need a non-interactive method. Specifically, I need the following real, unobfuscated/hidden info: Total RAM Processor (from

Hardware for HVM
I am using a Asus M2A-VM mainboard with Athlon X2 2300 cpu. The mainboard features a AMD 690G chipset. I thought this hardware is amd-v compatible. While using xen with hvm I get the message: root@pluto:/etc/xen# xm create /etc/xen/win.cfg -c Using config file "/etc/xen/win.cfg". Where are the Centos 7.1 1503 KVM repos please?
Thanks for all the replies. Looking at the specs for the processor it does not seem to have the vmx features in /proc/cpuinfo: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-2-Duo-T6400-Notebook-Processor.35100.0.html and the output from grep -E ?vmx|svm? /proc/cpuinfo is empty. /lib/modules/3.10.0-229.7.2.el7.x86_64/kernel/arch/x86/kvm [keith.roberts at acer-centos kvm]$ ls kvm-amd.ko kvm-intel.ko

What motherboard to use?
Hi list, I run several linux-hosts under Xen, but on my computer at home I''d like to get Windows running too as I need it once in a while.. I have an AMD X2 CPU and plenty of RAM running on an ABIT kn9 SLI motherboard. I can''t seem to find any info about support for AMD-V on this motherboard, so I guess I need a new one... Any suggestions as to what to buy? Thanx Sturla

howto upgrade
Hi, I would like to ask the proper or recommended way of upgrading xen...? I started with 3.1.0 then upgraded to 3.2.1 but now I am not able to use the original system. Since I am not satisfied[*] with the current setup I would try to upgrade to 3.3.1 but it would be nice if something went wrong I could downgrade it to 3.2.x... It is a pitty that booting the previous xen image does not work

failed to build llvm since 25de7691a0e27c29c8d783a22373cc265571f5e9 on AMD platform
LKP framework can guarantee that all the software environment are same on AMD and INTEL platform. INTEL platform always work well, after revert this patch, AMD works well. we tried below commit on AMD. 1) 25de7691a0e27c29c8d783a22373cc265571f5e9: bad 2) a82235843b102202766115e10003c9465a8b83ae: good the error logs(build/CMakeFiles/CMakeError.log) has no difference b/w 1) and 2) on AMD platform
