PHP in Rails app running on WEBRick
Hi all,
I''ve got a Rails app, and I''ve been asked to include some PHP pages in
the site. They don''t need to interact with the Rails app itself (I''d
treat them much like GIF files), but I''d still like to be able to
access them at development time using WEBRick.
What do I need to add to ./script/server to support PHP pages?
Cheers,
Douglas

Do module source code changes require reboot of WEBrick?
Assume that I refactor some code into a module and "require it into" my
controller.
Do I then need to restart my WEBrick server each time that I change the
module?
Thanks,
Wes

onFailure fails?
Hi all,
I have this code:
new Ajax.Request(''non_existant.file'', {
onSuccess:function(){alert("yay");},
onFailure:function(){alert("boo");}
});
Why does the onFailure alert never get called? It works fine if I use
a real file (onSuccess gets called).
Thanks,

Stopping WEBrick?
Is there any way to request WEBrick to shutdown besides hitting CTRL-C
at the console?
I''m looking for, perhaps, a script/shutdown command, or perhaps a
special URL that will request WEBrick to die.
It can be a command run in a different shell, or, as I said, a special
URL.
Anyone?

How to avoid bunch of <% %> ??
Hello, I would like to know is there is a way to avoid poluting the
views with tons of <% %> ?
Like this
<%= start_form_tag() %>
<%= text_field_tag(''category[title]'', category.title, {:size => 20,
:maxlength => 128}) %>
<% if not category.parent_id.nil? %>
<%= select("category", "parent_id",
Category.find(:all,

Javascript/AJAX Debugging
Hello !
I''m trying to implement something similar to the "multiple updates" section
of the Web2.0 chapter of the Agile book.
I implemented my version, and nothing is happening. No javascript errors,
my logs look fine, page is rendered fine... just no Effect.Highlight. Here
is the code:
views/causes/cause_home/index.rhtml

Ruby syntax question, I think ...
I am successfully navigating between controllers. However, I am unable
to construct a new child (question) record.
What does "undefined method `stringify_keys!'' really mean"?
I think I am missing a subtlety of Ruby syntax here, since the
question_controller is actually trying to call the Question constructor.
Can someone point out what I am missing please?

Rails is slow on Apache !!!
Hi ,
I have rails running on my development machine. I have installed mod_ruby
and set up the httpd.conf file to add handlers for .rb files. But the speed
I get is still slow compared to webrick which is blazingly fast.
I have 2 questions
1. How do I determine if mod_ruby is loaded and is being used to run my ruby
scripts ?
2. Which of these fcgi /mod_ruby is faster ?
Thanks

ruby on rails book, fundamental question
Hi guys,
bought the ROR book. I understand most of it and really like it. There
is just on thing I just dont get.
Lets take this code for example.
def list
@products = paginate :product, :per_page => 10
end
As far as I understand @products should be some kinda hash or array,
with the data of the Database inside.
How can I display this array ?
One solution is to do it like this (like in

Routing problems - Apache proxy vs. Webrick direct
I dropped the use of fastcgi because I could not get popen working (see
''[Rails] Apache2 and popen''). It works under WebBrick. Since CGI is too
slow, I thought I''d proxy to WebBrick via Apache.
I am having routing problems now with escaped slashes in the URL.
Here''s my routes.rb:
map.connect '''', :controller => "wiki"

Apache + Displaying images
Hi,
I''m new to Rails, sorry if I''m repeating the question, but I couldn''t
find a solution for my problem so far :(
I''m using Apache2 as the web server of my Rails application. I keep my
images in public/images and tried inserting images to the page like
this;
<%= image_tag "rails.png" %>
But the image is not displayed on the browser. Can

Is Webrick good enough?
Hi all,
On the rails list I''ve seen that it''s hard to integrate Rails with Apache
(especially apache2), that it''s hard to change the default port (3000), and
that Apache runs Rails stuff slowly.
Is it reasonable to run Rails stuff on Webrick while simultaneously running
other stuff on Apache? How does one simultaneously run two rails applications
on Webrick, when

ROR - Apache - FastCGI / Can''t see stylesheets or javascript
Folks ...
I have been porting my app from dev environment on Webrick to Apache
with FastCGI. I have the app responding and pulling up the data, but it
is ignoring the "images", "stylesheets", "javascripts" directories
located in the public directory.
I''m running Apache under Suse Linux 9.x. Here is the information that I
have in my vhosts.conf file:

WEBrick, Passenger or Mongrel
Hi,
My organization is going to set up puppet soon. We have thousands
servers and desktops. Would WEBrick work well for this? Or should we
use Passenger?
Thanks,
Haiyan

KISS and DRY? Not even close!
Hi all,
After working on my first rails app and having handed over some very
sophisticated coding from a lot of you guys. My app does what I want it to
do, but I''m no where near the end yet, and it seems that the KISS and DRY
objectives already went down the drain.
It could be lack of knowledge, only doing Ruby on (and) Rails for a month, but
I''m stuck on the following:
