Validating a required relationship.
Hello,
I''m not sure if I''m missing something blindingly obvious here.
All the relationships that Rails comes with assume 0..n, yes? It''s
not a strict 1 to 1 or 1 to n because it''s optional. My question is
this -
What is the best way to implement a required relationship?
For example, if I require that a comment is made by a user (a user

Testing the flash is brittle?
Hello all,
I seem to have an annoying habit of realizing that I''ve asked a
question with a blindingly obvious answer just after I''ve asked it
but here goes.
I''ve noticed that in my functional tests there''s the occasional
reliance on the contents of the flash. For example, I have an action
that confirms a users identity and may reject them because

Node Attributes
So I am designing a railsapp that indexes school organizations such as
clubs and frats/sororities. I have decided to represent this as a graph,
and that each entity is going to be just represented as a node, and the
relationship between each node is going to be an edge.
so basically, a frat such as "Alpha Beta Gamma" is represented as a
node, and its chapters also as seperate nodes,

* Server
Any reviews/comments out there on this server? Looks solid.. But would
like to know if anyone has purchased one of these before. Any other
companies out there offer pre-built * servers that someone would like to
comment on?

samba and ads authentication
I am looking at setting up ADS authentication for my current samba
configuration. I am quite wary of making big changes that I do not
understand as there are shares currently setup and I do not want to lose
this.
I have read through the "how to's" and I am at the point where I want to
"Create the computer account" and running the command :-

smbmount problem
Hello.
I hope that this is the proper place to ask this.
Here is my problem. I have several smbmounts under Red Hat Linux 5.1. They need to be accessed by
my apache web server. One of the mounts keeps getting disconnected, but this is not noticed by
Linux. So the Linux box thinks that the files under the smbmount are still accessable when they
aren't actually mounted. What would be the best

Redirect\Cookie bug with MSIE 5.5sp2
Hello all,
There seems to be a bug in internet explorer 5 where a redirect
causes the session to be lost.
A controller says....
def login
case @request.method
when :post
if @session[:user] = User.authenticate(@params
[:user_login], @params[:user_password])
return redirect_to(:action=>''send_confirmation'') unless

Using Local in queues a good idea? (or at least not a very bad idea?)
Hi,
I'm now thinking of always dialing out to Local/xxx at outbound/n on all my
queue members.
The reason for this, is both to be able to limit the number of calls to one
agent, and to have fail-over-lines on the agents.
(for example, if dahdi fails, go sip)
But for a few years ago, I did some testing with Local/ channels, and they
seemed somewhat unstable in large quantity.
Are they more

disabling SELinux on CentOS: a good idea?
I was banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why my Nagios
install wasn't working on CentOS 4.5 (I'm used to Debian), and so I disabled
SELinux and everything magically started working.
Is this a good long term idea? Or is there a better way of doing things?

Good idea, but no reply: what to do.
Hello,
since some time I've created a construction which:
- automatically detects all the smb hosts and their shares (with nbtscan and
smbclient)
- creates a directory in the homemap of the users logged in which represents
the "windows networkneighbourhoud".
- when entering a share, it is automatically mounted (with autofs and cifs
and or smbfs)
It works very good, and now

mbox to maildir conversion - good idea regarding Outlook?
Hi list,
first of all, many thanks to the Dovecot authors for supplying an IMAP
server that works well with M$-Outlook! I have used UW-imapd for quite a
while and was annoyed by frequent "imap...timeout..." error messages.
Now I'd like to give maildir format a try because I want to use email
sub-folders. What are other Outlook users' experiences with maildir? Is

Is it a good idea to mark class as deprecated?
Hi All,
During a discussion about instruction scheduling in LLVM [1], I
realize that class PostRASchedulerList
actually is deprecated. The documentation of instruction scheduling is
pretty poor, so I cannot find such
information. Removing the obsoleted class might be too aggressive. I
am wondering if we can mark
the class as deprecated [2] (seems C++14 feature required), or at
least making a
