PCI passthrough to domU does not work with XEN 3.3
Hi! As dom0 I''m running Ubuntu Hardy withe xen 3.3 from backports. Reason to using xen 3.3 is that I could get Intrepid stock kernel to work as domu with xen 3.2. Now the problem I have is that I can''t passthrough PCI-devices to my domu. If I run lspci in the domu nothing is returned. I''ve tried to use the kernel from Hardy (2.6.24-21-xen) and stock kernel from

Fw: Re: What packages ubuntu-xen-server & ubuntu-xen-desktop are up to on intrepid
I have installed Ubuntu Intrepid Server on bare metal and successfully ran:- # apt-get install ubuntu-xen-server.     It installed several packages on system . Now i can see files /boot/xen-3.3.gz, /etc/init.d/xend, /etc/init.d/xendomains, but no xenified kernel gets in. Attempt  to use vmlinuz-2.6.27-7-server, obviously , fails with system panic.    I do remember recompiling  procedure for Xen

Will latest .deb pkg for Ubuntu Intrepid work on Ubuntu Jaunty
I'm trying to help someone to get the e-Sword windows app working under Wine. The Wine package available on Ubuntu Hardy, and Intrepid will not display the bible text, although the main window for e-Sword opens. I've installed the latest development version of Wine (.deb) for Ubuntu Intrepid, and although there are still a whole bunch of errors that I have to OK, eventually the e-Sword

glitchy sound with steam (half-life 2) under intrepid
I upgraded my machine from Ubuntu Hardy to Intrepid and now I get stuttering audio. I'm running the closed-source nvidea driver and a realtime kernel, like before the upgrade. Any ideas as to how I can speed up audio? -- David Griffith dgriffi at cs.csubak.edu A: Because it fouls the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? xen 3.3.0 + intrepid domU (2.6.27-7-server) + >4gb ram problem
Hi, we''re using Xen 3.3.0 on Debian Etch with 2.6.18.8 kernel from xen.org on dom0. We have problems starting Intrepid domU (using Intrepid''s kernel 2.6.27-7-server) if we give more than 4GB of memory to this domain. Using memory = ''4096'' works perfectly, but changing it to ''4097'' already gives an error. Can anyone put some light on this?

Repository issue with R 2.8.0 in Ubuntu 8.10
Dear List, I'm not an expert on Linux but I have been using Ubuntu and R sice two years ago. I've just installed Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex (8.10, Kernel: 2.6.27-7-generic) from the scratch and then installed R, following the instruction given on: http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/README, and everything worked fine. However, after the installation I realized that the installed

new kernel on Fedora 10 domU
Hi, I installed Fedora 10 as domU on CentOS 5.3. I need new 2.6.25.14 kernel under domU (in order to patch it for MPLS protocol). I followed advice on http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Kernel.org_Linux_on_Xen, and compiled kernel with XEN options enabled under domU. I got all relevant packages in /boot and /lib/modules, but when I try to boot virtual machine I got this error: Error starting

Problem with updating/reinstalling R under UBUNTU (Hardy)
Hello, I am a new R user not at ease with installing and updating R package under Ubuntu (Hardy), so that I cannot run R anymore ...! I initially installed r version 2.6.2.2 (amd64) from Intrepid instead of Hardy (!), but it worked. I tried to update to version 2.9, but did not succeeded:    (1) I added to my /etc/apt/sources.list an entry :           deb

[patch rfc wip] first cut of ELF bzImage
I started with Vivek's ELF bzImage patch from Oct last year, mashed it to apply to hpa's new setup/boot code. This patch does a couple of things, which would probably be better split into multiple patches: 1. Glue an ELF header onto the front of bzImage. This is a real ELF header at the front of the file. Breaks akpm's laptop, apparently, but it works for me. 2.

samba4 on ubuntu intrepid, winbind success only in single process model
A brief rundown of my experiences with Samba4 <http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4> on Ubuntu Intrepid: http://ropeonfire.blogspot.com/2008/10/samba4-on-ubuntu-intrepid.html One note in particular that might be helpful to developers: I could join a linux machine running winbind 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3 to the domain only when running in single process mode. I'm still holding out hope

building Matrix on Ubuntu intrepid
For what it's worth, I found I had to sudo apt-get install libatlas-base-dev in order to get "libf77blas.so" installed on my system. (Everything had been fine under Hardy.) Is there a new dependency? cheers Ben Bolker

Removing pulseaudio affects startup / shutdown in Intrepid
I use Intrepid Studio, and have all updates as of today (29-Oct). As of a few days ago, my distro does not shut down or start cleanly. It is because I have removed pulseaudio. The same thing happens on shutdown when I have pulseaudio stopped with pactl exit. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what is the workaround when using wine? pasuspender wine application.exe ?? Thanks. Susan

Wine 1.1.4--Intrepid--Photoshop Elements 6.0--can't install
I am trying to install Photoshop Elements 6.0 using Wine 1.1.4 under Ubuntu Intrepid. During installation, I get the following error: The ODBC installer DLL (ODBCCP32.dll) is not installed on this system. This pop-up error appears three times when I repeatedly press "OK," then goes away. The installer then moves and freezes to the step "Removing applications..." I have

Bug#493856: xen-utils-3.2-1: i386 Dom0 cannot load Debian 2.6.26 amd64 kernel bzImage
Package: xen-utils-3.2-1 Version: 3.2.1-2 Severity: important Hi, I set the severity to important as it seems that current xen tools does not allow to load amd64 Debian kernel in DomU. I also put the debian-kernel ML in CC as I'm not sure the problem comes from xen tools or the kernel itself. Here is my configuration: Hypervisor: xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-amd64 3.2.1-2
