performance of pv drivers for windows
Hello everybody,
I tried to measure the performance of the available drivers for windows as a
HVM guest.
I used the gplpv drivers 0.9.11-pre17, the PV drivers from Novell, and the
drivers
from Citrix XenSource with the XenServer 5.
The Novell and gplpv drivers were more or less at the same speed, for both,
network and disk performance.
The disk performance was about 10MB/s reading and

State of GPLPV and Windows 8
What is the state of GPLPV and Windows 8? I am currently running tests
with Windows 8 and GPLPV rev956 and operations (disk IO, net IO) look
good. There seems to be a problem with shutdown/reboot where Windows
hangs somewhat and displays a warning about improper shutdown on next
reboot.

ACM driver binary 'release'
Dear vorbis developer community,
time has come to release a first binary of the ACM driver. I need some
feedback of what it does or does not. Please not that this is still a
"private" release that is only intended for use by the vorbis developer
community, therfore I ask you not to distribute it, you can expect that
future version of the driver won't be compatible to this binary.

[PATCH] PVWin: Fix warnings
This patch cleans up some 80-odd warnings I was seeing when compiling
the xenpci driver, all completely trivial. It also replaces the use of
asm for calling cpuid with the __cpuid compiler intrinsic, and modifies
calling code accordingly.
I''m pretty sure my mailer going to mangle the inline patch (below) so
I''m attaching the pristine version. (will try to fix for next time)

Wine 1.3.26: Samsung NPS does not work
Hi
With my phone, Samsung delivers NPS software (New PC Studio)
I can install it with Wine 1.3.26 on my Ubuntu 11.04
but when I try to run it, I get a lot of messages:
Code:

Release 0.9.5 of GPL PV Drivers for Windows
I''ve just made my first ever attempt at an Nullsoft installer, so if you
want to try it download "Xen PV Drivers 0.9.5.exe" from
http://www.meadowcourt.org/downloads/
The installer should detect the version of windows you are running and
install the drivers. At the moment you''ll need to install the shutdown
monitor service manually, but you can do that from the start

Preventing corruption if filesystem is modified between ''save'' and ''restore''
Is there currently a way of preventing filesystem corruption if the
following sequence of events occurs:
1. ''xm save domain domain.chk''
2. ''xm create domain''
3. ''xm shutdown domain''
4. ''xm restore domain.chk''
?
If not, I''m thinking of trying to implement into the windows gplpv

GPLPV 0.10.0.69 Blue Screen 0x0000007B
Trying to install them on Xen 3.4.0, Intel E5345 Processors, Server 2008
64bit. I get the BSoD on boot with the 0x0000007B stop message. I''ve
got a bunch of 2003 32bits running on the same host with the 0.10.0.69
drivers and those are totally happy. I tried the boot once with NOGPLPV
idea mentioned in another thread, that didn''t do the trick.
Ideas anyone?

GPLPV, clock drift and PVUSB in Windows XP HVM
1. Shouldn''t the GPLPV drivers take care of the (bad) clock drift I''m experiencing in my Windows XP HVM? Or is there some other way around this problem that I haven''t been able to find on Google? How can I tell if the GPLPV drivers are active? I''ve added the /gplpv switch to the boot.ini file and the virtual NIC is definitely using the GPLPV version but other

GPL PV Intermitent Network Problems
Well, I seem to have developed a strange issue with the GPL PV drivers
in Windows. I''m running Xen 3.2 on SLES 10 SP2 and running some Windows
XP HVM domUs. Most (12-15) of my Windows machines work just fine. Two
of them, though, have started exhibiting a strange behavior with
intermittent network connectivity. Basically, the network starts up and
connects initially. After some

WinDbg?
Hello,
I have been struggling with WinDbg/Kd for the last week, but to no avail... So I finally decided to ask here.
Basically, I am using a Windows XP virtual machine (thanks to VMWare6) and wanted to do some kernel debugging using Windbg. So, I did configure everything from the virtual machine side (using this guide: http://silverstr.ufies.org/lotr0/windbg-vmware.html), and then tried my hands

[GPLPV] Xennet device issues on Win2k3 x32 DomU/Disabling just one PV device
Hi there.
I have been dealing with a conundrum off and on with a VPS of mine. Windows
2003 Standard 32 bit on a Xen HVM instance. Been trying to get the GPLPV
drivers working to help boost performance but always seem to run into one
major issue: The PV network device looks like it works but actual
connectivity is non-existant. Everything else in the GPLPV driver suite
works fine.

W2k3 HVM domain QEMU drivers
So I successfully installed the GPLPV drivers in a Windows installation I
have running under Xen. Turns out SP2 is needed - I wish this was slightly
better documented somewhere, as the machine ended up bluescreening and I had
to use /NOGPLPV to get it to boot again so I could upgrade it to SP2.
My question is this: I ended up using ''disable'' in device manager for the
