one DomU, 2 IP =>why ? any ideas,
Hi,
I needed to switch one DomU from one IP to an other tonight.
I''m on centos 5.2 (Dom0 and DomU)
Therefore, I made a script using perl to make so. This script modify the
IPADDR line in the following files :
- /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
- /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0
- /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/ifcfg-eth0
Then I reboot the VM and it

Xen Networking problem!
Hi,
I ''ve got a CentOS 5.2 server running xen 3.0 with 2 DomUs also running
CentOS 5.2.
All my boxes are up-to date.
I''m experiencing trouble with networking.
Dom0 can reach the outside world when no DomU are started. It can also
reach the outside world when only one DomU is running.
The troubles begin when I start the second DomU. At first, this new

sip register incoming call contexts?
Sorry this is a bit of a newbie question, I've been at this for a few
months and still have not quite figured this one out.
I've been able to setup one itsp (incoming calls) (sip account) with a
register line like this:
register => nnnnnnn:ppppp@sip.provider.net
-or-
register => nnnnnnn:ppppp@sip.provider.net/nnn
to come directly into an extension in the dialplan
It seems that

How do I pick up a trailing number in extensions.conf?
Hi,
my SIP provider sends me all the numbers that are dialed, i.e. when a
number is appended to the phone number proper, it gets appended to the
incoming number, like (my number is 0123456789, and I append a "5"):
To: <sip:491234567895@sipgate.net>;tag=as1174b008
Question is, how can I use the trailing number in extensions.conf? This is
ideal for a direct dial through to an

How can I eveluate trailing numbers in extensions.conf?
Checkout

I believe that should have the answer for you.
furthermore assuming that your number is always going to be 12 digits.
exten => _NXX.,1,SetVar(mynumber=${EXTEN:0:12}) - will give you your number.
Hope this helps.

qemu disk cache mode
Hi all,
I can''t find any good talk about this subject and would like some insights
and advices on the cache side in xen.
I discovered that a domO power outage can lead to a severe filesystem
corruption of the domUs. The domO is a dual disk dell server with a PERC
controler in writethrough cache mode, the disk cache is disabled, the
scheduler in the domO/domU is NOOP, the domO is holding

Bug#532719: logcheck-database: filter pam_env complaining about missing /etc/default/locale
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.2.69
Severity: normal
on systems without configured global locale, i get lines like this in
the logcheck filtered logs:
Jun 10 21:12:13 ... sshd[9729]: pam_env(sshd:setcred): Unable to open env file: /etc/default/locale: No such file or directory
this looks like a warning that is perfectly ok but does not do any harm

Complaining Emails
Hi Everyone,
I'm one of those "newbie" users that really doesn't know what is going
on. And in stark contrast to the posts you may read, I do actually
think that when you post on this list, you get a reply. In fact, I know
you do. I have had a quite nice run setting up asterisk, when I've had
problems I've looked at the Wiki or Google, and then when I can't find

Actual complaining: nixspam
John accused me of complaining about systemd... this here's *real*
complaining.
Several times every month, my email starts getting bounced by freakin'
nixspam, because my giant hosting provider, that hosts millions of
domains. Akemi has argued that nixspam works just fine (if so, then why
did we get that spam a few weeks ago?).
I've politely requested being put on a whitelist, and

POP users complaining about multiple copies of mail
Hello,
We just switched from UW to Dovecot for our mail server. The transition went smoothly, except we have some users complaining about their email clients re-downloading mail or getting multiple copies of emails. When we go into their accounts, we only see one copy of the email, so I'm assuming there's something odd in the communication between their client and us that's causing

[Fwd: Re: rsync server complaining about vanishing files while they are not.]
Greetings.
Yep, I have set "use chroot = no" for the module and it works. The symlinks
I have are created automatically by a tool and are absolute. But since "use
chroot = no" handles well absolute links from root/, the transfer works A1.
Thanks for your input, Wayne.
Best regards,

I have Wine installed on an Ubuntu (Hoary) machine. I've verified
that Wine works by running a couple of Windows applications. Lately, I
trying installing a third Windows application by inserting the CD and
following the Windows based directions. Unfortunately, the only thing
that installer did was display a window saying that it doesn't have
administrator privileges. (I know the

Tinc not starting but not complaining either
Hi everybody,
I've spent last 16 hours trying to get Tinc working on my two almost
identical linux boxes. Both are running Debian stable with backported
Openssl and self-compiled kernel 2.4.24 with ebtables-patch to enable
bridging firewall. Both firewalls have both masquaraded and just bridged
nets behind (LAN & DMZ) and they are working perfectly. Now I need to

Fwd: Reh Hat ipchains tricks
Hi Raymond,
I also struggled 3 days to set up a direct connection between a RH7.3 box
and a WinME box with a crossover cable for experiment and met with
frustration. The setup of WinME box has no problem and it can connect to
other Win boxes for file sharing.
IP Address
RH7.3 192.168.0.1
WinME 192.168.0.2
Ping started connecting but both boxes can't see each another. I also
