[CentOS] RPM complaining it needs .so files, while these are actually present
Hello When I try to install a package I built myself (java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.16-1jpp.x86_64.rpm - took the java-1.6.0 srpm from jpackage and bumped the version number), it complains: Error: Missing Dependency: libodbcinst.so()(64bit) is needed by package java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.16-1jpp.x86_64 (java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.16-1jpp.x86_64.rpm) Error: Missing Dependency: libodbc.so()(64bit) is needed by package java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.16-1jpp.x86_64 (java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.16-1jpp.x86_64.rpm) However, I definately have these files: [root at centos5 x86_64]# ls -l /usr/lib64/libodbcinst* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 270528 Jan 7 2007 /usr/lib64/libodbcinst.a -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1038232 Jan 7 2007 /usr/lib64/libodbcinstQ.a lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Aug 29 20:59 /usr/lib64/libodbcinst.so -> libodbcinst.so.1.0.0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Aug 29 20:58 /usr/lib64/libodbcinst.so.1 -> libodbcinst.so.1.0.0 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 78088 Jan 7 2007 /usr/lib64/libodbcinst.so.1.0.0 [root at centos5 x86_64]# (I left out libodbc*, I have these files as well but it would be too much and useless to post here) Why isn't the dependency management realizing I have the files needed? Thanks, Best regards, Glenn

If you installed the files manually via a make; make config; make install, then they will not be in the RPM database. What does this say: rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/lib64/libodbcinst.so -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
