Networkbrige is not working
In spite of reading howtos and this mailing list now for several weeks, I am still not able to get the network of my winXP guest connected to the host (opensuse 10.2) or the external network. There are some network interfaces missing on my host (peth0, vif0.0). ifconfig: eth0 Protokoll:Ethernet Hardware Adresse 00:18:8B:B3:1A:AC inet Adresse:192.168.0.66 Bcast:192.168.0.255

cheapest virtualizable Quadro
Hi all, I am running a VNC terminal server on a virtualized host, and I would like to add OpenGL support using VirtualGL, which relies on HW accelerated rendering on the server side. Since in my case the server is a domU, I need VGA Passthru for this. Therefore, I need a graphics card that supports virtualization. I am aware that the NVIdia Quadro FX 3800 card (and up) are guaranteed to work,

lowess + turnpoints = doubling integers?
Happy New Year, r-helpers! I am using lowess to smooth a scatter plot, xx<-lowess(xinput,f=.04) #defaults for other args followed by turnpoints(xx$y) #defaults for other args I plot the smoothed result as well as turnpoints (using yy$tppos) on top of raw data plot. Result is exactly as expected, graphically. For another purpose, I calcuate the difference between turnpoints (representing

Lab manager for Xen
Hi, [1] I have spent time learning Xen, as compared to Vmware. Is there an opensource tool for managing the various Xen domains both locally and remotely ? It can be commandline or GUI based. VMware has a Lab Manager. I am looking for something similar (or superior) for Xen too. [2] Redhat has the virt-manager. And allows us to connect the hypervisor to local host and remote host. How does that

Persistent locked files & Win95
I often find with Samba v2.0.3 that files accessed via Win95 (OSR2) stay locked forever after exiting the application that used them. I've got an application called Visual SlickEdit (VSE), which is installed on a shared drive. The drive is an exported Samba share from my RedHat v5.2 (kernel v2.2.5) server. Both the Win32 and OS/2 versions of VSE are installed beneath the same subdirectory

Can I copy the hole machine with VMCONVERTER without any problem. I had done already this procedure with a laptop to another place and worked very well. This is pratical and easy, but is this procedure recommended? I would like any advise

file access problems
we're testing a new NFS product for our mainframe system (Conectivitiy Systems TCP/IP for VSE) and have successfully mapped a virtual drive to our unix system (AIX 4.2). We use Samba (v.1.9.18p2) to share files with the Windows 95 and Windows NT systems in the building. We have attempted to map the "mapped" drive from the mainframe via Samba. We're able to see files in the

[PATCH] VMX support for MMIO/PIO in VM8086 mode
Memory mapped and port I/O is currently broken under VMX when the partition is running in VM8086 mode. The reason is that the instruction decoding support uses 32-bit opcode/address decodes rather 16-bit decodes. This patch fixes that. In addition, the patch adds support for the "stos" instruction decoding because this is a frequently used way to clear MMIO areas such as the screen. As

WinSCP error while connecting to root
Hi folks, I tried to use WinSCP (http://winscp.vse.cz/eng/) for a ftp like scp-GUI for Windows in order to connect to a HP-UX machine running 11.0 and openssh-2.5.1p2. The problem is that I can connect to any user I want _except_ root! When I connect to root, then the command "echo $status" (this is the way how WinSCP detects the user shell) results in a "logout root". The
