GPL PV TAP cow incompatible?
Hi
Is it true that the GPLPV drivers is incompatible with QCOW images?
The Windows DomU works fine with raw standard "file:/" images, and
paravirtualized Linux DomU works fine with QCOW and raw images.
If i use QCOW images with my Windows DomU''s i get a stop error:
0x00000007b (inaccessible boot device).
It looks like the blkback.3.hda process, that normally starts with

Windows 2008 R2 64 bit BSoD
Hello.
I''m trying to get the lastest GPLPV binary (rev 238) working on an
Ubuntu Server host with Xen 4, but I''ve got some problems. The guest
is a 64 bit Windows 2008 R2.
After enabling test mode and rebooting, installing and rebooting again
(with /NOGPLPV) I can see all the Xen devices, but two (out of three)
Xen Block Device Driver have an exclamation mark; I don''t

GPL PV Intermitent Network Problems
Well, I seem to have developed a strange issue with the GPL PV drivers
in Windows. I''m running Xen 3.2 on SLES 10 SP2 and running some Windows
XP HVM domUs. Most (12-15) of my Windows machines work just fine. Two
of them, though, have started exhibiting a strange behavior with
intermittent network connectivity. Basically, the network starts up and
connects initially. After some

Another GPLPV pre-release 0.9.11-pre7
I''ve just uploaded 0.9.11-pre7. save/restore should be working for 32
bits on both SMP and UP, and maybe for 64 bits although it''s not tested.
If someone could test migration it would be much appreciated.
The installer seems to not install the drivers under 64 bit
environment... but they can then be installed manually. Not sure why at
this point.

GPLPV network performance
Just reporting some iperf results. In each case, Dom0 is iperf server,

DomU: Windows XP SP3, GPLPV 0.9.12-pre13, file based.
Iperf: 1.17 Gbits/sec
(2) Dom0: Intel Core2 2.33 GHz, CentOS 5.2, xen 3.0.3.

GPLPV 0.10.0.69 Blue Screen 0x0000007B
Trying to install them on Xen 3.4.0, Intel E5345 Processors, Server 2008
64bit. I get the BSoD on boot with the 0x0000007B stop message. I''ve
got a bunch of 2003 32bits running on the same host with the 0.10.0.69
drivers and those are totally happy. I tried the boot once with NOGPLPV
idea mentioned in another thread, that didn''t do the trick.
Ideas anyone?

GPL PV drivers for Windows 0.9.11-pre12
I''ve just uploaded 0.9.11-pre12 of the GPL PV drivers for Windows.
Since -pre10 (and -pre11) I''ve fixed a heap of crashes that were
plaguing xennet under load, and also rewritten the interrupt/event
distribution logic to improve performance.
Under windows 2003 I can now get network speeds of 1-2Gbit/second TX and
600Gbit/second RX, which is considerably better than I was

Release 0.9.0 of GPL PV Drivers for Windows
I''ve just put up the latest release of the GPLPV drivers for Windows.
This release involved a fairly big rewrite of the stuff that talks to
Windows as I changed from WDF to WDM. WDF is a newer framework from
Microsoft which makes it easier to write drivers as a lot of the state
management stuff is done for you. It also means shipping a great big dll
around with the drivers (note the

performance of pv drivers for windows
Hello everybody,
I tried to measure the performance of the available drivers for windows as a
HVM guest.
I used the gplpv drivers 0.9.11-pre17, the PV drivers from Novell, and the
drivers
from Citrix XenSource with the XenServer 5.
The Novell and gplpv drivers were more or less at the same speed, for both,
network and disk performance.
The disk performance was about 10MB/s reading and

Release 0.8.8 of GPL PV drivers for Windows
In the spirit of ''release early, release often'', here''s another binary
release...
http://www.meadowcourt.org/WindowsXenPV-0.8.8.zip
The only thing that''s changed since 0.8.7 is that xennet should work
under amd64 again.

GPL PV drivers for Windows 0.10.0.50
I''ve just uploaded 0.10.0.50 which fixes a few bugs related to high
network load (BSoD''s & packet corruption). It should upgrade any
previous 0.10.x.x.
Additionally, I''ve also uploaded uninstall_0.9.x.txt (rename it to .bat)
which will uninstall 0.9.x drivers. After running that, reboot and they
should be gone. Please do a backup first though as I have only tested

GPLPV drivers suspected to hinder live migration to different CPU type
Hi,
I''ve noticed that on a Xen cluster with three nodes (two E5620 CPUs and
one E5140 CPU) live migration works perfectly in between to two E5620
nodes, but fails to and from the E5140. The error message is about a HVM
context not being able to be set.
I strongly suspect the use 238 GPPVL drivers, but I cannot uninstall
them at this point because someone else needs the server.
